    One of the best explanations I’ve heard of hepatic encephalopathy. No overly complicated biochemistry nonsense

    Lactulose works best in combination with Rifaximin for Hepatic Encephalopathy. This combination therapy has the highest possible recommendation from AASLD and EASL to reduce the risk of overt hepatic encephalopathy recurrence.

    I use it for constipation it works like a charm. It's not a must use medication but if you tired of dry stool I recommend it.

      Magnesium supplementation daily is a must... Magnesium help with neurotransmitters creation and bowel movements and electrolytes balance.. Chia seeds added on the daily water intake, helps the gastric tube or most likely the feces or "fecal paste", to not sticking to the internal walls and flow through as a sort of lubricating "coat" or gel foam, from the Chia seeds... That "gelatinous" matter that forms when the seeds get in contact with water or moisture... So toxins from feces get less reabsorbed or leaked into the bloodstream, specially when leaky gut is present and healthy floral is lacking thus overpopulation of Candida Albicans is present and developed and its respective Mycotoxins and all those gut tube internal gases, leaking into the bloodstream...

    This medicine is a wonder drug that I can't live without. I frequently have problems passing my stool (it comes and it goes, sometimes it's worse sometimes not so much). Sure my stomach grumbles a lot afterwards and get diarrhea but compared to feeling heavy, irritated and generally like shit, a few cramps is so much better. When the apocalypse happens, getting this thing would be my first priority. Being able to shit after 5 days of keeping it in (due to constipation I think) is just the best feeling in the world.

    You said Lactulose was not digested in intestines. Can a DM patient have it?

    • @physiopathopharmaco4190
      @physiopathopharmaco4190  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lactulose is approved for the symptomatic treatment of constipation, a gastrointestinal (GI) complication common in individuals with diabetes. Lactulose products contain carbohydrate impurities (e.g., lactose, fructose, galactose), which occur during the lactulose manufacturing process. These impurities may affect the blood glucose levels of individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) using lactulose for the treatment of mild constipation. A previous study in healthy subjects revealed no increase in blood glucose levels after oral lactulose intake. However, it is still unclear whether the intake of lactulose increases blood glucose levels in individuals with diabetes.

    Ok, that's in a perferctly healthy colon, but what happens when the intestin wall is damaged like in leaky gut? Can ammonium ion cross the membrane through the holes and get to the bloodstream?
