    Had one, it was white with blue stripes 289 4 speed tough engine and transmission, I was 22 when I had it and drove the shit out of it, I’m 54 now and had two Fox body’s since, and they were nice but never got the attention that little fastback got, and the way that back seat folded down was cool as shit, just ask my wife.

    My Dad bought me a 66 fastback for my high school graduation in Karlsruhe, Germany 1974. Dark green, 289 3-spd plain jane owned and maintained daily by an Army Colonel. We moved back stateside and he had it painted maroon with white cobra stripes for my college, Mississippi State University. He had the engine painted and chromed, added dual exhaust and forbid me from having any further enhancements done. We're talking fun in a go kart now :) My dumb ass traded it for a 70 F100 Custom when pickups became popular. Yeah, shoot me.

    Hopefully you still reply to this older post haha.... I have a 66 GT Fastback, with the original 14" styled steel wheels on it.
    Just watched your video, and love the stance on this car.
    I want to upgrade to 15's, but I'm afraid of spending all the money and not choosing the right tire size and spacing to get the stance I want.
    I'd appreciate it, If you could please tell me the tire size and spacing you chose for this mustang at the time.

    my dad and I are going to buy a junk body and build it from the ground. I'm 14 and so excited any tips

    • @MainlyMuscleCars
      @MainlyMuscleCars  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andrew Koontz Pick a body with as little rust as possible. Rust repair, body and paint are the most expensive repairs. Also decode the VIN for the car before you buy it here: www.mustangdecoder.com/decoder.html Make sure to buy a factory V8 car if possible. You will spend just as much restoring a 6 cyl. car as a V8 and it will be worth about half as much when you're done. Best of luck on your project!

    This semi fastback look so much better than the full fastback.

    • @red94mr28
      @red94mr28 ปีที่แล้ว

      ?? Ford only made the mustang in 3 body styles during the '60s...a coupe, a convertible and a fastback... there isn't a semi-fastback nor a full fastback, just a fastback.

    • @Gieszkanne
      @Gieszkanne ปีที่แล้ว

      @@red94mr28 If you compare the 65 and 66 to the later ones, you will understand why some call them semi fastback.

    • @red94mr28
      @red94mr28 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gieszkanne lol, nobody uses those ridiculous terms except you. You could not order a "full fastback" on a 65-66 Mustang fastback or a "semi fastback" on a 71-73 Mustang fastback. You could only order a fastback and the length and proportion of that year's body determined the dimensions of the fastback body portion.
      What you meant to say is that you like the proportions of the early Mustang fastbacks compared to later models.
      As a owner of a 65, 66, 67 and 69 fastback plus being in local Mustang clubs and attending hundreds of meets, I've never heard anyone, even non-owners, use the terms "semi fastback" or "full fastback".
      If you can provide a link to a US Ford Mustang owners club or article or book excerpt that use those terms, I'll apologize for thinking you're "semi-retarded" for using those terms.🤡

  • @akfunnyguy

    Change them wheels for a set of Magnum 500's & you'd have a way sweet lookin '66. I got em on my '66 Coupe with same tires as yours. 14 by 7 wheels. Nice car you have tho!
