    I’m Korean and I lived in the Phil for 5 years. In my memory they are really kind.
    I was touched when my elementary classmates and teacher prepared a surprising farewell party. Still have the paper- which my classmates and teachers wrote messages, and everytime I read that I cry😭 I miss them so much.

    I’m Thai and went to the Philippines for a vacation 2 years ago. I saw many similarities of the Filipino culture to ours but what highlights them the most is their hospitality. They’re so warm and welcoming, very nice people. I wish I can come back for a second vacation soon but still not sure. I miss Philippines.

    Some foreigners might find it weird but its natural for filipinos to pat another's shoulder, arm behind the elbow or at your back (like how that dude did at the end of the video). I think its a way how we filipinos treat each other. Patting a shoulder is like saying "your welcome" or "its ok" or any sort of positive greetings to another individual. I have teach english to koreans before and i heard they don't like to be touched unless they have known a person for a very long time.

    Filipinos are used to say "Kuya" to an older brother (or some random guys), that's why Filipinos might think that it's the same with "Oppa" which means older brother too in Korea. Many Filipinos might think that it's only right to call them Oppa.

    Oppa is older brother. But people here in the Philippines think it's handsome korean guy, because of kdramas. I'm just curious, do you find it weird? Or it's not that deep for you? I know some Koreans are annoyed by that

    • @hauweii
      @hauweii 5 ปีที่แล้ว +148

      Qwertyful I don’t really think that they’re fetishizing them. I think it would be fetishizing if they started wishing that they themselves were korean, and thought that koreans/korean culture is better than everyone/everything else. I think that when they say korean words to korean people, they’re just trying to communicate with them, or showing interest in their culture, but not fetishizing, you know what I mean?

    the culture of filipinos is very different from koreans specially when socializing with foreigners. I am living in Korea right now and what i noticed is koreans "mind their own business" they will not look and be nosey unlike filipinos.. Filipinos will look at you from head to toes and stare! The nice thing with filipinos is we will try to communicate as hard as we can even with sign language to help foreigners. Koreans tend to just leave when we ask for help but we cant speak in koreans. Sometimes they get annoyed and will say "you are in Korea so learn how to speak hanggul"

    Hello, I am Korean who's been living in the Philippines for more than 10 years already. My experience recently after K-pop & K-drama hit in the PH, whenever I walk on streets, I hear people saying ANNYEONGHASEYO, OPPA, SARANGHAE things and making those finger hearts. It kinda got uncomfortable for me. 'Cause first of all, they say those things like "Oppa" and they laugh at each other and try to make fun of it. Also, making those such weird Korean-English or "Konglish" sound or prounciations infront of us when we pass by. Secondly, I personally experienced harassment by some person on the street when I was on the way home. Literally touching my shoulder down to my elbows. I personally think those things are worse than a catcalling and wolf whistling. That's why some Koreans are sensitive 'cause they've experienced it many times.
    But Don't get me wrong! I love Philippines and I have lots of pinoy friends too! Also, I am very fluent in Filipino kaya KERI LANG! hahahaha!

    We're sorry about that 'oppa' thingy. But, most of filipino's thinks that 오빠(oppa) is used to call a handsome guy. Even men's are saying 'oppa' too, and that's so awkward... It's a mannerism in our country to call a tall guy/handsome guy/ has a white skin guy/ an oppa.. They've learned it especially to those kdramatic and kpoper (I'm a kpoper, but I don't use 'oppa' to call a handsome guy) .. Imaooo

    • @dheaismaxx
      @dheaismaxx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mingigotme Novela is a Spanish word adopted by Filipinos. I think the term Korean Novela is unique to the Philippines because we are so used to using the term “novela” to refer to TV shows because before the introduction of KDrama, Latin American shows frequently aired on local TV stations. These shows, which were mostly from Mexico, were called “telenovela” or soap opera. So when KDrama was introduced, locals started referring to it as Korean Novela

My sister's boss invited us to stay overnight in their house and even cooked for us and we thanked her for her hospitality and she said "you're welcome, this is Korean culture' she even drove us to go to Everland Park and the husband drove us to the train station too, wow they were very accommodating and one lady helped us too to contact our agent when we went to Naju City. I enjoyed my subwayS' trip. Greetings from Phil.

Lastly, there are Koreans who can already speak Cebuano(Cebu's dialect) fluently and they're already used in the way how we Filipinos live. Koreans just come and go every single day. That's why the vendors, drivers, etc knows how to speak Korean fluently. You would be amazed!
