beautiful bike. i had a 45ci scout in 1970. i knew very little and my tool kit consisted of a screwdriver and a couple of wrenches. it survived my ministrations and rode me through miles of north carolina mountains. sadly, it broke down in western nc, and was stolen from the gas station where i left it for two days. the thieves probably thought it was a harley chopper; it was not nearly as well-maintained as your beautiful machine.

These Military Indian bikes were tough & reliable , I had one years ago just for going to work, about 30 miles a day, horribly slow but it only let me down once, it was the pinion gear that turned the oil pump & distributer, they were a factory hybrid. the frame was changed to give them better ground clearance, the engine was sport scout bottom with pony scout (500) top, it was flat out at 55 as long as you had the wind behind you......

Hey man, I get the 'To each his own' thing, but just know that whenever you go anywhere where there are old timers or riders who "get it," they are going to look at that bike and shake their heads.

@chumpthedog its a resto mod not just pure resto.. the frame is different, the bars are custom, not too mention way more chrome than an original would have, let alone an actual army bike. the rear suspension should have coil springs with an axle block sandwiched between them not a pure rigid

Beautiful job, my avatar is a 1942 wla, but it was chromed out when I got it, so I just rebuilt it and put Harley decals. His 741 is very nice, but I would have used Indian decals. It is no longer in military trim. I would like to know the cost of this 15 hp motorcycle, I'm sure its up there.

...I think a lot of that noise is just 'mechanical', so it sounds fast....and it does have nice quiet exhausts....These were 4 cam engines, like sportsters, so there are a lot of things going around in there....!

This BIKE has 95% of his parts from the FACTORY, meaning ORIGINAL which his the most VALUE of mi BIKE.
Of course, the painting (color) is NOT ORIGINAL from the factory, neither the chrome, muffle, battery, leader seat and the wiring.
I have in my HANDS the Operation Manual and the Parts Manuals that came with the bike since
      1941.
You say REMOTELY that this is NOT the original
      INDIAN MOTORCYCLE MILITARY TIPE
741-B made special ORDER for the State Department of USA in 1940.
It was MAKE for MILITARY USE and not for the civilians.
They make only 300 bikes like my.
I have one of them and I am very PROUD of that.
I don't know if you have the ORIGINAL PICTURES from my bike when they were delivery to the USA Government to be use it in the Second War.
Don't confuse the SCOUT (civilian 741) with the MILITARY VERSION.
Looks to me that you are not very familiar with the history of this bike and specially with my. Model.
      Regards
      Luis

I agree would be worth more and look much better if it was done like it came from the factory. Could you see your self riding into battle with all those shinny parts. But sill a nice bike and he built it for himself.

Beautiful bike but would an Army motorcycle have that much chrome on it? Just asking.

  • @whalesong999
    @whalesong999 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Luis - It looks like the cylinders and some other odd bits are plated. Can you mention if chrome or otherwise and elaborate what other things were done to the motor to shine so well, i.e., are the heads and cases just polished? I know this isn't as it was during the service years (original restoration) but can understand for the longevity of it, not a bad choice.
