- In this 6-part series, explore how we as followers of Jesus can respond and walk through the disorientating moments in our lives, in the complexity of today’s culture, by looking to the ancient paths of Jesus.
Kyung Chul (Charlie) Kang is your host for this podcast, joined by Dr Jason Clark in the studio as they discuss learning and unlearning as Christians.
At the start of the episode, Charlie shares his own personal story of an extremely disorientating moment in his life. From dreams of becoming a lawyer, to unexpectedly becoming a pastor, to suddenly having it all come to an end - how could he respond? In solitude all he could do was say, “God I’m here and that’s all I have”, and God spoke.
In this episode we discuss:
- Silence and solitude as valuable spiritual practices.
- How crisis can lead us to learn more of God.
- What does healthy deconstruction look like?
- What’s the purpose of learning and unlearning?
- How there’s more of God, not less of God, in these moments.
- The difference between dogma and doctrine.
- Finding space for honesty and openness.

Thank you for sharing Charlie! ❤
Thanks so much for your honesty in telling your story. I've been going through such a difficult unravelling season for what feels like ages and often find myself just lying on the floor unable to function. In fact that's where I was earlier today just before I saw your timely episode. Bless you 🙏
