Loved MadS, definitely didn’t know it was really done in one take, thought for sure they did some sneaky cuts. That’s wildly impressive for all the moving parts they had in it.
Always look forward to your monthly recaps and after watching your update on patreon, I'm glad you were able to get this out with how busy you've been lately. This was an awesome recap of some unique movies! Thanks Kylie and also congrats again with Liked and all the opportunities you've been getting. Looking forward to checking them out eventually!
Great recap! I really like these videos as they give a lot of inspiration for what to watch in the future, popular or not, and what types of films they are.
Ah man, I loved Daddy's Head. Maybe the scariest film of the year for me. The creature design deeply disturbed me, and the jump scares were incredible. Definitely a Babadook meets Boy and the Heron concept but I liked it.
Over a year ago in a livestream I joked that someday Rob Zombie would be one of your fave directors. We are one step closer to seeing that happen haha I'm a big Lifeforce fan. Hope you give it another chance :)
Nice.. it's cool you came around on RZ Halloween 2, I wasn't really feeling it when it came out, but it's one of those films that gets better the more you watch it.. finally watched Trick r Treat, good stuff, dark and funny, liked the tone shifts, top tier Halloween vibes, the Anna Paquin Sweet Dreams scene dope.. haven't heard good things about the new Joker, but I'm still interested, I thought the first one was a modern version of Taxi Driver, but still pretty good.. and yes product placement has no shame these days ha..
I just watched The Uninvited with your prompting and it wasn't awful. I was never convinced of the girlfriends evil and saw a twist coming but was still unsettled by it when it came
Awesome recap! So glad you’re finally checking out some old cinema classics like clockwork orange and some 80s cult classic horrors like near dark, lifeforce, and night of the comet! I love that Kathryn bigelow started her career with horror even tho I’ll admit Near dark has its problems. Same with lifeforce, I think tobe hooper is amazing with set and production design but it’s got its flaws too lol Oh man, I remember watching hollow man at an early age and being totally messed up over it. I have this memory of watching it with my sister and her crying and yelling at me to change the channel when the dog died. It colored my look on Kevin bacon for years lol not at all like his character in tremors! Aww trick or treat has an awesome soundtrack! Even has cameos from gene Simmons and Ozzy! But yeah it’s okay at best. Hope you rewatch it sooner than later lol Also great that you’ve been keeping up with shudders new releases! I watched V/H/S Beyond with my horror friends and we liked it! I think my favorite segment was the skydiving into the field one. Although it was also fun seeing demonic big bird lololol I also checked out MadS on shudder. Insane! Loved the surreal trippy-ness, reminded me of when we watched climax lol and speaking of watch alongs, I had such a fun time doing all the ones we did last month. I can finally say that I’ve seen the light on Halloween 2018! Thank you for that my dark mistress and thank you for the recap!
I just watched The Fog on Halloween for the first time. It was really engaging! It’s kind of tough for me to get into older movies but I was pleasantly surprised
That was my first time ever seeing Hollow Man during the watch challenge. Hollow Man, more like pervert man lol dude became a menace once he turned invisible. I've never seen Kevin in a role like that before it's a wild flick for sure. 👻🤘🏾
I imagine some people rank the Fur Babies segment in Beyond as low as they do because they’ve seen Tusk and just think "oh it's literally just Justin Long remaking this movie he starred in a decade ago" lmao Not that ive seen Tusk, but i know enough about it
lol I've been subbed for over 2 years now and every time I watch one of these monthly recaps I'm always like "Oh yeah Hippie is super based." like its my first time discovering this.
I did see Rob Zombie’s Halloween films 1 and 2 with Tourist Trap and The Keep (rewatches). After Terrifier 3, picked up where I left on Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, then video froze again on tubi. Saw This is the Zodiac Speaking and Wayne Gacy Tapes documentaries. And Woman of the Year (Shelley and the Dating Game Killer drama) on Netflix from Oct.
I watched Salem’s Lot on an edible with a break mid-movie and that was a good way to watch it for me. The scares were super effective and I loved the makeup! It was just a cozy, good time watch but you need to take an intermission of some sort to break up the runtime a bit.
I liked the segment Fur Babies; it reminded me of Tusk. Oh, too bad you didn't like Salem's Lot. It's okay. I enjoyed it. Yeah sure it's super slow, I get it. I don't remember the one with Rob Lowe. The remake was rushed. It had some decent moments here and there.
Good recap of November, oh I mean October. A few titles I have not seen. My Kylie list grows but I do scratch off titles from time to time. Monster Summer, where was that? I like that it has these young boys in it. I still have some young boys in me since having grandkids.
Tremors is like, my ultimate comfort movie. It's pretty much a perfect love letter to the 1950s sci-fi/monster movie wave. I'd also recommend the first sequel if you're interested. As for Hollow Man... oof. That is such a potentially cool film done...erm, not so good. I don't blame Paul Verhoeven for saying he doesn't like the film at all and decided to never make another Hollywood movie again. He had a very bumpy ride post-Robocop.
Also the Netflix movie by Alfonso Cuarón was Roma. I liked it when it came out and haven’t rewatched it since lol Fun fact about near dark: a lot of the cast and crew were the same from Aliens! Kathryn bigelow was married to James Cameron at the time and basically used his resources lol Also I noticed on your letterboxd you finally saw pulp fiction! I know Tarantino is a weirdo but hes one of the earliest filmmakers to successfully pull off a non linear way of storytelling. I can’t wait til next month.. what did you think? Tell me all your thoughts!
Help the term porridge is HILARIOUS !! I will use it too cause what do you mean a film is so long and doesn’t give anything, just like porridge, I will always take forever to eat that lol. You might enjoy the new remake more lol
@@justheretocommentokdontwan685 Thank you. It’s hard I feel betrayed and let down but I’ll try. I’ll just throw on a movie I love and try to not let it interfere. We need more kindness in this world. Thank you
I am a proud metal head but damn, I do love me some Twin Temple! Saw them open for Danzig last year and immediately started a deep dive into their music. Glad they're starting to get notoriety! I mean, who the hell wouldn't enjoy Satanic doo wap?!?!? I digress...another great offering for the Cult of 2H!
You're better than me. I tapped out of Riverdale the season after Luke Perry died. Not sure if it was because he was gone, because the show was getting worse or both. Perhaps I will spend this winter going back in for shows that I never finished (Walking Dead being another one, I have one season left). Your Monster has made it up there on my list of highly anticipated because I was a Beauty in the Beast girlie so this 100% appeals to me. Tremors (and Tremors 2) are my favorite creature feature movies. Its SO good and I have fun with it no matter how many times I watch it. I wanna watch Time Cut to see how accurate their depiction of 2003 is. Jesus, I'm old. The year I got married is now in a time hop horror...wtf happened to my youth, man! Hahaha! Make up in the early 2000s was very frosty. Light blues, pinks, light purples...shimmer everywhere lol Claires girls were pastel thin glitter. Hot Topic girls were chunky bold glitters haha.
The show losing Luke Perry and then Skeet Ulrich and then a few other icons made it become a tough watch sometimes. The last season was my least favorite but the show was never unwatchable besides a few mid season filler episodes. It felt good to finally finish it for me haha. Hope you love Your Monster, no one else I know has rated it as highly as I did 😂
@HauntedHippie I got a feeling that for all the reasons you rated it high, I would too haha. One would only have to look at my reading list to say this would be in my wheelhouse haha.
36:02 Girl, WHAT? HUMPTY DUMPTY vibes!!! With the pic of Puss in boots 2011. lmao 🤣 😭 Which one is more menacingly: humpty dunpty or thanos? lol Yoo, I didn’t notice that creature design he does looks like HIM! NO! He reminds me of Modok from Ant-man 3! 😭
Watch Salem's lot 2004 with rob lowe instead, I'm not saying it's better, but my cousin briefly plays a doctor in it and has one line at the start, blonde woman with an Australian accent, blink and you'll miss her
MadS feels like a Gaspar Noe film if Gaspar Noe was like not a sicko lol. Really loved and was impressed with the filmmaking but I was somewhat whelmed by the horror of the film. I get there's very little you can actually pull off with a single take in terms of onscreen gore but i would've liked to see more intense sort of scenes given the subject matter. Still really cool tho. 7.5/10
Lifeforce and Salens Lots are probably "off their time" and dated for many people now. I had both on VHS and enjoyed them. Salem's Lot was very creepy back in the day. I recently bought the Arrow Lifeforce blu ray and looking forward to watching it again. My last purchase was the Japanese Horror J-Rising Arrow set with 7 films. I have only heard of two of them so will be first time watching. You may like to watch the other Tremor films although I believe they were straight to DVD releases.
I saw the Hitch-Hiker in the theater. No I'm not that old. It was one of the selections to a yearly noir festival I go to. Usually only one of those movies I like enough it stays with me. This wasn't one of them. Not bad. But kinda forgettable.
Great vid Kylie. I'm quite depressed w/ the election of Trump. Deeply depressing. America has elected President Terrifier. It says something deeply horrific about America in electing Trump. It's a true horror movie w/ President Trump/Terrifier. Anyway, great vid Kylie... keep up the great work.
Not a movie, but have you watched the show Hysteria? If not, I highly recommend it. It's on Peacock. Also shout out to Hell House LLC. It's definitely one of the best found footage alongside the likes of [rec], Cloverfield, the V/H/S series and Blair Witch Project.

I still need to finish Riverdale 😅. Because I was seated when s5 was coming out...but I stopped watching it because I hated it. But frankly finishing Riverdale isn't on the top of my priorities. I still need to finish shows like Supernatural and Hannibal 🥲
Holy shit, that edit at 01:57 is everything 💕

Thanks! It's been a whirlwind!
Call Girl of Cthulhu was a film we laughed at during a movie night (with friends) that's the best way to see a film like that
Time to watch Ash vs Evil Dead 🪚
I may have already started 👀

Ah man, I loved Daddy's Head. Maybe the scariest film of the year for me. The creature design deeply disturbed me, and the jump scares were incredible. Definitely a Babadook meets Boy and the Heron concept but I liked it.
Still get goosebumps thinking of the first time you see the creature in the house and you’re squinting like wtf am I looking at. Terrifying!
@@lightbop Exactly same experience for me! I was scanning the darkness the entire rest of the movie after that scene.
Everyday is spooky season for horror fans. Great list of movies and shows.
The Daddys Head creature was so unsettling!
I love the choice with editing Kylie's eyes, that was hilarious 😂

I'm a big Lifeforce fan. Hope you give it another chance :)
The hitch hiker 1953 is great. It's in the public domain, worth the watch
Time Cut tried to trick me thinking it's a good movie by playing hilary duff, avril lavigne, and vanessa carlton lol

Shareable for sure
