The Imprisoned is separate - the mindless power that remains. Why do you think it's so intent on reaching the temple? It wants to break the seal and reunite with what remains of Demise, allowing the Demon King to be reborn. There is no timeline split - the Goddess Sword _does_ briefly coexist with the Master Sword, but as it's a time loop, it gets reforged, then brought into the past and left there. If Demise conquered time, then it stands to reason he's not subject to things like entropy and decay. So in theory, the Imprisoned could just be his "flesh" trying to reform itself until Skyloft crushing it just rendered it completely inert
I'm sorry there's a part of this video that is completely wrong, only the part of Skyloft with the goddess statue on it returned to the surface, the rest of it stayed up in the sky. Even if you don't agree with timeline stuff, I dont really think they are the same blade, cause well, in FSA the Ganondorf in that game is a reincarnated Ganondorf, and Vaati was still sealed in the Four Swords at the start of FSA, and if we go by the 2 times we've seen Ganondorf very much die on screen, WW and TP, has Link using the Master Sword, and unsealed Vaati, they cannot be the same blade.
On another note, I prefer them both being 2 different swords, cause well, it'd be neat to get a future game where Link has the Master Sword and the Four Sword, think of the neat gameplay ideas.
Well, yes there are islands in the sky, i just meant everyone settled on the ground, regardless of how i said it, it really has nothing to do with the theory, sorry. This reminds me of when i accidently said Skyward Sword came out on the Wii U on accident and I got comments saying it was for the wii for like 6 months lol, but thank you for the correction regardless. And when I make theories they are just possibilities that COULD have happened, that I string together with correlating connections, they are not what I actually believe. Just fun idea's for entertainment. Usually i make a theory and the one i make next completely contradicts the last one i made, lol and that's okay, because they're not canon nor am i suggesting they are, they're just for fun. Thank you for being respectful though
They are not the exact same blade, they were both made from the goddess sword, but while the master sword was forged in the goddess flames giving it the power of the spiritual, the four sword was merged with the physical powers of the earth itself.
it would’ve been cool if the lore was that there were multiple mythical swords, that were one day forged into a single Master Sword, and then could possibly be temporarily separated again for whatever silly gameplay reason you need. though I did enjoy the aspect of _Skyward Sword_ that saw Link forge the Master Sword… I wish they had expanded this concept to Hyrule at large. maybe Link goes around and has to recruit the different races to join together and help him save Zelda, founding Hyrule in the process?

And cool I'll check it out sometime!
Any theory eh. th-cam.com/channels/voTYZDnTP7mfowhRBW4IOw.html here's some theories done a little less seriously. More of a theory/commentary and it's definitely not suitable for children.
Wasn't the minish sword forged by the minish? That's why they were the only ones capable of reforging it into the white sword. Also, if it was an upgraded form of the goddess sword, I don't think Vaati would have been able to snap it in two so effortlessly.
Also talking about the sword in BOTW and now TOTK. The four sword doesn't appear in those games, despite they having many important swords like Biggoron sword or even the Goddess Sword.
If we think about it, Hylia created the blade that would become the catalyst for the Master Sword. And though SS Zelda wasn't Hylia herself, she was probably the most connected to Hylia's Goddess "form" as the 1st incarnation, what would have stopped that Zelda from forging another Goddess Blade after she had (and people seem to forget this at times) a vision off the future? Maybe it wasn't completely clear to her but she knew 2 things; a new catalyst blade was needed and it needed to be handed over to a tribe off miniscule but powerful magical race who saw them when they landed upon Hyrule from Skyloft.
The issue I have with this is that if the two (or perhaps 3 - there's subtle hints in Skyward Sword that this isn't the first run like Zelda already being in the back and old Impa saying the way Zelda arrived on the surface was wrong) timelines fused somehow then wouldn't the master and goddess swords have fused? I mean you don't get two versions of people running around...
Well the master sword and the four sword are not the only blades that have defeated ganon. In zelda 1 and the Oracle games, ganon was defeated with neither. So just because a blade has the ability to defeat demons doesn't mean it must be the master sword. But while I disagree with this theory, the presentation and editing were spot on! Not what I expected at first glance. Definitely keeping an eye on this channel.
Kind of true, I was just saying like according to their lore, but technically, Zelda 1 the silver arrow defeats ganon, if you dont pick it up you can hit ganon with the sword for 7 hours he won't die, and in the oracles it was a half resurrection, but I'm sure you don't have to but canonically you get the master sword in the oracle games, and fight him so... but I get what your saying
What if the hero of time kept accidentally cloning himself by doing stuff with the master sword, and the four sword is a sword that summons 4 links from any given timeline
Upon both watching your video, and reading some of the comments; I firmly believe in this theory. Additionally; as Demise was sealed by the Master Sword they had no other choice but to use the alternative Goddess Blade reforged to seal Vaati, out of fear for releasing an even greater evil.
The Master Sword is time-locked. It only exists in one moment at a time. That's why another copy doesn't exist in the past in Twilight Princess. It's why link has to leave it in the pedestal when he goes back 7 years in Ocarina of Time. So it doesn't create any paradoxes when he leaves in the pedestal in Skyward Sword.
The end of Skyward Sword is a dragonbreak. A Dragonbreak as a concept comes from the Elder Scrolls series (specifically due to Bethesda not wanting to make any of the endings of Elder Scrolls 2 non-canon). A dragonbreak is an event where time splits into infinite timelines where the same events play out differently or not at all before time fixes itself by merging the splits into one singular timeline, make all of those possible events true to history, though contradictory.
Which brings up a verry important question, why don’t the dieties of hyrule have link search for both rather then just one? Would have helped us alot in wind waker or breath of the wild. Heck in breath of the wild the four sword would by logic be far sturdier then the master sword (considering it is made with the elements of the physical realm, rather then the heavenly realm) with almost as much power, and because it is also a sacred sword it cant be destroyed permanently. Would have also been a great reason to bring the minish back.
Well I think it could be in the Windwaker, but chances are it’s underwater. I haven’t personally played Four Swords or Four Swords Adventures, but I’ve read the manga and I think it has an explanation (despite being non-canon). After the events of the first Four Swords Vaati was sealed in a shrine using the Four Sword. When Link drew the sword, it released Vaati. If he drew the sword, Ganon wouldn’t be the only person Link would have to deal with.
The thing about this theory is that Skyward Sword is ending in a closed loop Young Impa got Zelda's Bracelett as a Gift from the Past and Old Impa had it the whole time since the beginning, which implies that everything including the Fight of Link against the fully resurected Demise has already happened for her, and in order for her to make sure that everything stays the same she needs to send Link to go on a journey to make sure everything ends up un the same moment. There is probably not really a split except the part with the Life Fruit Tree (this should be really questioned), but everything else ends up in a closed loop.
it should only be questioned if link was from the present the reason its a closed loop is because link is from the future not the present impa is from the present she traveled to the future before anyone else did any time travel
@@darkdagger5237 Impa still traveled into a future where everything was successful in some way, otherwise Zelda wouldnt have been born in order to keep the seal on Demise intact, it's kinda mindblowing
@@Chris-gx1ei I don't think she did we don't know how much Impa changed Link's time we can see some of the effects of Impa's time travel but not all of them for all we know Impa could have arrived in a time ruled by Demise with her first time jump
4:38 I dunno. Given how the Timeshift Stones work, in the same game no less, I think it makes sense. They don't change the past, they bring the past into the present. The Gate of Time doesn't send you into the past, it sends you into a false past that influences the present in a more sudden way than the actual past. The Demise Link fought was the same Demise that was crushed beneath the Statue of Hylia, Ghirahim using the Gate of Time only gave Demise a second chance.
There was a theory that has since been deleted by a guy named HyperBoyGames that said it is possible that since there are two Temple of Times, it's possible that one of them uses a Timeshifted past, while the other had it's design perfected and uses real time travel.
I love this theory! I also think it works okay with your theory where the downfall timeline splits at skyward sword (so long as the master sword is remade in the downfall timeline). After the Skyward Sword timeline split, the master sword was put into the pedestal in the past to seal Demise, which means the goddess sword doesn't become the master sword, and so now it exists in tandem with the master sword, and the timeline in which the goddess sword actually was forged into the master sword now no longer has either of them (and goes on to become the downfall timeline, where the master sword would actually be a new one) because it was put into the former timeline split. This effectively means the regular timeline 'stole' the master sword from the other timeline. This still means that Skyward Sword still effectively has two pasts because of its grandfather paradox, but maybe when link returns from the past the timeline is sort of merged so that he doesn't have a run in with his doppleganger or something. Maybe one timeline is the merged one and the downfall is the unmerged one.
The thing is actually everything becomes a Loop, Old Impa had the Bracelett from Zelda when she was young the whole Time, meaning the Fight against Demise already happened for Impa and so she had to make sure that everything will end in a loop again
I really like this theory, but I don’t like the line of logic that leads to the theory as a whole. You started by saying it’s odd how the Master Sword is described as if it’s the only one capable of slaying demons and beating Ganon, if the Four Sword can do the same thing. Well in Zelda 1, the magical sword is used to beat Ganon and in Zelda: Spirit Link uses The Lokomo Sword to kill Malladus who is often described as The Demon King. Other than that, I do like the theory. I just wanted to point those things out.
Love this Theory but I have a few notes about the paradox part of the video… See if you look at time in the way the marvel universe explains it (the most sensible way in my opinion) it actually wouldn’t be a paradox at all, going back in time and changing it wouldn’t change your future because if you go back in time, that past is technically your present now and the present you were just in before is now your past and you can’t change the future if that same future is now in the past, you can only make a new future going forward in life. So basically what I’m saying is, link went into the past he put the master sword back in its place and defeated demise, then he went back into the past (which was his old present) and continued living from that poi- bruh this is literally what you said smh 😭 I should have finished watching the video
Yes I actually agree! I had another theory it was one of my first videos subscribing to that theory, but the game establishes so many types of time travel before the what always has been,(How Zelda is always in the crystal) and that changing the past (the tree and the dragon that Link saves, I forget which dragon) shows that changing things in the past using the gate of time does change the future, it's all in that zeltik video I referenced if I would have explained all that it would be a 20 minute video. But I do agree it should have made separate timelines, this theory was just based on the time travel Nintendo established in this story, kind of cause they used other types in other ways that contradict things as well lol 🙄 but if you don't mind my novice editing at the time check out, the fallen timeline is in the wrong place, video I did, it uses exactly what u are talking about, probably in less detail it was my first theory, but i do agree that the time travel SHOULD split into an alternate timeline. Glad your enjoying the content, and thanks for watching, and giving your insightful input!
I agree with the general idea behind this theory, but I disagree with your explanation of the time travel stuff. Personally I think there is a timeline split at Skyward Sword. Also, I don't consider Hyrule Historia and the "official timeline" as canon
Well your right, in the Hyrule Historia and Encycopedia, it actually says things are subject to change and it's just Nintendo's suggested canon, which may change as more entries in the series arise, and as fans we are free to put together the canonicity and theories as we please. But a lot of people follow it, and this particular theory is based on that timeline, But i do have a theory bout that it was the first theory Video i ever did, it may be a little less professional then my video's are now, but i think some of it still seems valid. It might be more up your alley lol. The Fallen timeline is in the wrong place th-cam.com/video/46OT5VpdbO0/w-d-xo.html
Four Swords Is The Powerful Blade That Can Repel Curse and Sealing All Evil Entity By It's Powers It Have Power That Can Make Human Split Into Four Beca6Of Element
I like this theory! It doesn’t contradict any other lore, and makes a ton of sense. Plus, the Goddess Sword was a sort of loose end in game, so it being the Picori Blade makes sense.
Then vaati broke the master sword in the past and the sw has the mc as its sequel and when is defeated something happened and it became the ms in its sequel the oof?so all the events of these 2 games according to these 2 blades happened in the past? or because we see the ms aka the pb in the mc the game continued like that think ganon is utterly destroyed but a new villain appeared from nowhere like vaati in the mc so the pb were known for what it did but by breaking it should be ganon out of it and not a bunch of monsters?and if vaati was sealed how we see the sequel to the mc is the oof?and how ganon knows vaati?since they never met in the past or in the present ? Is something aloof or some manipulation behind the time and space the two swords and how the games are sequel to one another i believe something happened in between i dont believe that if the blades are similar to dont know how it became the four sword and then became the master sword if they are similar how ?or according to what i see in the events of oof i think there is a second master sword or link took it from the past why in the present when ganon is dead the blade was destroyed cut in half and saw the four sword so something happened i dont know if they are similar these are my questions and theory
It is likely that the master sword is not the same since it does not make sense for draconified Zelda to revive the master sword since if we remember it was forged with the three sacred flames that are essentially the power of the three golden goddesses din nayru and farore. Zelda, even being draconic for a million years, will never come close to the power of the three sacred flames and therefore the master sword reborn is NOTHING compared to the master sword seen in skyward sword
You just don't have to take Zelda's lore seriously. The Master Sword has many powers that have not been seen again, such as stopping and resuming time seen in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, and in the description of the Master Sword in Zelda Ocarina of Time in 3DS, it says that it is capable of traveling to the ends of the earth. of time to destroy evil and in Skyward Sword the unauthentic master sword activates the time portal with its power. In Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild, none of that power was seen and the only thing it retained was the power to cast lightning bolts. either the sword is not the same or it is another timeline completely separate from skyward sword
My good sir, have you heard the theory about the flux capacity of the open Gate of Time? I've heard it like this… While a Gate of Time is open, the "path" between two time periods is open; they're linked and bound together. It's only after the gate is closed that changes to either time period could, can, or do result in a branching timeline. This is most clearly seen in Ocarina of Time, but it appears to be the same foundation for what occurs in Skyward Sword!
The Gate of Time was open and active until Link, Groose, and Zelda stepped back into the present. Impa closed the Gate from the past after they'd traveled through. So the events of the past and the present were still in sync (linked) by the gate until that very moment. Neat, right?
@@theloruleanhistorian It is a very cool theory, I love it, though Skyward Sword, uses like 3 different types of time travel, with the tree, and the dragon, Zelda always being locked in the crystal, not to mention Impa's bracelet, at one point here's like 4 bracelet's that are the same item, in the same timeline lol existing at the same time, I'm not sure if the theory can completely cover up every loop hole though, though i love this flux capacity theory, that's why I like "The Master Sword meshes time" idea, because there's closed loops time travel, altering history time travel, grandfather paradox time travel, and the bracelet situation is almost like a breaking reality and the laws of physics kind of of time travel, but it makes for awesome theorizing! Love it though did you come up with this theory?
@@PixelFlikss a friend of mine by name of Instrutilus coined the term, and first proposed the idea. The name's a tongue in cheek reference to Back to the Future.
@@theloruleanhistorian based on flux capacitor and I came to the same conclusion before finding this comment I am currently working on solving zelda time travel as a whole
OK OK So hear me out- What if the Master Sword wielded by the Hero of Winds is actually the Four Sword? LISTEN LISTEN HEAR ME OUT- Banditgames released a theory a couple years back about there being 2 Master swords due to the differences between the WW MS and the OOT master sword. In that video he makes the claim that the sages may have made a new blade- but what if it was just the Four Sword, reforged to be the MS we see in WW? This would explain how we still have the MS even though Link seemingly takes it with him in oot back to his childhood, as well as why it turns Ganondorf to stone. Turning him to stone was something I thought was weird, as we've only seen that done a few times- once in WW (as I mentioned), in Phantom hourglass, and once in the Minish Cap- Zelda, who was turned to stone by Vaati, a PICORI, using PICORI magic- the same magic that would've likely been imbued with PICORI magic? Eh? EH?! Now, do I think Nintendo will confirm this? No. Do I think they intended it? Lol, hell no. Does that stop me from thinking it's neat? Heck yeah, lol. (This could also explain the Goddess sword in totk- the Picori blade reverted even further, until it became the og sword and was left with the white sword of the sky)
@@PixelFlikss Yeah, I should probably explain myself. Yours did follow about the same points, but the Alt Timeline theory made more sense due to the Goddess Sword not having been drawn, not that I believe that there ever was a branch from Skyward Sword. The reason this doesn't work is that it hinges on the Goddess Sword never having been drawn in the main timeline, which, considering nothing seems to have changed since before we entered the Gate of Time to fight Demise, couldn't have happened, thus preventing the Goddess Sword to be brought down from the heavens not just because it isn't there, but also because its former resting place, the Goddess Statue, is also on the surface.
@@LuckyNumber39 I'm gonna give it to you i would probably, counter what your saying but i made this theory years ago, and I don't remember it, cause i dont watch my old video's i do remember something about the master sword breaking time and meshing timelines or something, thats about it lol
@Utopia390rl hey I just went over my theory to give your comment a little more thought, and the whole theory is saying that the master sword is making things happen from 2 timeliness into one, as a an in universe explainer to the time travel contradictions. And that the fact that in a timeline where demise was killed in the past was mixed with the one that we played since it should have erased everything link did in theory. So yes the statue that you took the sword from is on the surface but due to the mixed timeline there's one in the sky too. So whether you like the theory or not, it does make sense
Come to think of it, why isn't the timeline simply based off of whether the master sword is present or not and the incarnation of demise present? Obviously all of the games involving Ganon are connected, so are those involving Vaati. I guess that just leaves the "other" category... How exactly, I'm not sure but it makes a hell of a lot more sense to order the games in this manner rather than the whole ocarina of time b.s.
Great video and I think your the only TH-camr who realized something like this and it makes sense and with the missing event between skyward to minish cap this outcome is likely
6:38 So you have come this far and still you understand nothing. The future can affect the past, even in real life. In mathematics, we are given the three body problem. This problem shows blatant violation of time symmetry. Cause and effect is how we adapt to what's infront of us. It's a measurement. The easiest way to think of it would be to understand your current "timeline" is also on a "timeline" constantly changing.

Almost every other link had some much help from everyone else. First zelda it was impa. Wise men for swords and small tips. And the old lady for potions. That was it. Zelda 2, had the wise men for the spells. And just 2 knights. Everyone else couldn't do much for him. He did the rest himself. And it's not like he could of "learned the magic" if he couldn't of used it. Did the magic rod of zelda 1 help him to use or learn the magic? Dam just thought of a good video haha
I do some small youtube on the side shot youtube old-school 2010s style lol haha. If ya get some time stop and watch some thing. I do let's plays, long plays retro nes randomness carstuff, I play music, and more!
@@cliffjumper1984 @cliffjumper1984 Wow, you know what my next video is almost done, is on the Hero of Hyrule, that incarnation of Link, though it's just his story doesn't go into any theories or whatnot, but hopefully you'll enjoy that one. but I plan on making a video like that for every Hero of an era. And cool I'll check it out sometime!
@@PixelFlikss cool. Sooooo ready for more content. Got to get to some of your backlog
Also, if it was an upgraded form of the goddess sword, I don't think Vaati would have been able to snap it in two so effortlessly.
it says they brought it from the heavens but perhaps they found it on Skyloft
What’s up man!!!!! I’m here for the long run now!
Hey, cool glad your here!
the four sword also shows up in A Link to the past
?
@@yourmum69_420 yep you forge it
As a HUGE fan of the four sword I love this theory
Also talking about the sword in BOTW and now TOTK. The four sword doesn't appear in those games, despite they having many important swords like Biggoron sword or even the Goddess Sword.
Here comes TOTK breaking the timeline even more
We could make our own Zelda timeline with the idea from this paradox
If we think about it, Hylia created the blade that would become the catalyst for the Master Sword. And though SS Zelda wasn't Hylia herself, she was probably the most connected to Hylia's Goddess "form" as the 1st incarnation, what would have stopped that Zelda from forging another Goddess Blade after she had (and people seem to forget this at times) a vision off the future? Maybe it wasn't completely clear to her but she knew 2 things; a new catalyst blade was needed and it needed to be handed over to a tribe off miniscule but powerful magical race who saw them when they landed upon Hyrule from Skyloft.
i think that the fourth sword is somo kind of master sword prototype
Dont forget the Lokomo sword!
Or wait please do...
Thanks! I honestly think this is one of my best and most thought out and worked on theories so I'm glad you like it!
@@PixelFlikss I'm a Zelda nut. 😅 I love it when the community makes more sense out of the gaps than Nintendo.
This actually makes sense 😲
The thing about this theory is that Skyward Sword is ending in a closed loop
Young Impa got Zelda's Bracelett as a Gift from the Past and Old Impa had it the whole time since the beginning, which implies that everything including the Fight of Link against the fully resurected Demise has already happened for her, and in order for her to make sure that everything stays the same she needs to send Link to go on a journey to make sure everything ends up un the same moment.
@@darkdagger5237
Impa still traveled into a future where everything was successful in some way, otherwise Zelda wouldnt have been born in order to keep the seal on Demise intact, it's kinda mindblowing
@@Chris-gx1ei I don't think she did we don't know how much Impa changed Link's time we can see some of the effects of Impa's time travel but not all of them for all we know Impa could have arrived in a time ruled by Demise with her first time jump
@ZHyruleFantasy you forgot it shows up in Alttp GBA
i hope they somehow implement the fourswords in new loz game it introduce 4 player coop
This is probably one of the best theories about the Four Sword and how/why it could be so powerful. Bravo man, bravo
Nintendo's answer to fan theory: "Erhh it's a legend and, ehrrr the old man telling you the story messed up the details!"
Bullshit, there is no old man telling the story. You play the games from the perspective of Link. I was there, I saw what happened.
Love this Theory but I have a few notes about the paradox part of the video…
See if you look at time in the way the marvel universe explains it (the most sensible way in my opinion) it actually wouldn’t be a paradox at all, going back in time and changing it wouldn’t change your future because if you go back in time, that past is technically your present now and the present you were just in before is now your past and you can’t change the future if that same future is now in the past, you can only make a new future going forward in life.
For some reason my instincts tell me it's the same blade. I'm looking to prove or disprove this, found your vid have a comment.
Very good Content and interesting Theory

The Fallen timeline is in the wrong place

And that’s why you don’t mess with time!!!! 😂
My brain when watching this video: ......UUUUUUUUuuuuuhh.......
I think you secretly unlocked something: if demise is in the master sword, maybe that makes the master sword a paradox stabilizer

OK OK So hear me out-
What if the Master Sword wielded by the Hero of Winds is actually the Four Sword?
LISTEN LISTEN HEAR ME OUT-
Banditgames released a theory a couple years back about there being 2 Master swords due to the differences between the WW MS and the OOT master sword.
Spoilers for totk
So with totk the master sword travels in time once again…
Me coming into this theory: No
Me exiting this theory: This makes even less sense than the Alternate Timeline Master Sword theory
Well there's always someone who doesn't like outrageous theories, that's okay thanks for the algorithm boost appreciate it
@@PixelFlikss Yeah, I should probably explain myself.
@@PixelFlikss sure
@Utopia390rl hey I just went over my theory to give your comment a little more thought, and the whole theory is saying that the master sword is making things happen from 2 timeliness into one, as a an in universe explainer to the time travel contradictions. And that the fact that in a timeline where demise was killed in the past was mixed with the one that we played since it should have erased everything link did in theory. So yes the statue that you took the sword from is on the surface but due to the mixed timeline there's one in the sky too. So whether you like the theory or not, it does make sense
The master sword was a time sword
Come to think of it, why isn't the timeline simply based off of whether the master sword is present or not and the incarnation of demise present? Obviously all of the games involving Ganon are connected, so are those involving Vaati. I guess that just leaves the "other" category... How exactly, I'm not sure but it makes a hell of a lot more sense to order the games in this manner rather than the whole ocarina of time b.s.
That is an awesome conclusion,
Great video and I think your the only TH-camr who realized something like this and it makes sense and with the missing event between skyward to minish cap this outcome is likely
They should’ve just made Skyward Sword be the source of the third split.
I so agree 💯

So you have come this far and still you understand nothing.
Noice
nope it's not!
