This song is about depression and the way he moves in his video reflects perfectly what depressing feels like. Fantastic song. Please do “ santé “ next. Its a fun , uplifting song.
Stromae has a particular musical universe, dancing rhythms with often sad lyrics. his previous album is one of the best-selling in europe. You will like the following songs a lot : 1. Papoutai 2. Tous les mêmes 3. Carmen 4. Formidable 5. Quand c'est
yeah quand c'est talk about his mom having cancer that she survive i think ? and him has dynosticed about having it too and it's because of that's that he do a pause for about 6years (idk), tous les même talking about womens the period and other things, papoaouter talk about he dad because he was leaving alone with his mom and asked why he he's not here with them, formidable talk about him broke up and walk into street complety drunk, carmen is about twitter and addiction of being on social media and i add fils de joie who talk about a fictif world where a sexworker funeral and him (the son) talk about her like she was a hero (sorry my English is not good)
First time he played it, we were waiting for him to sing again for 8 years. He asked the main French TV journal to come to promote his album. They asked him how he was and he started to think this. We were all surprised. He is amasing.
Nice reaction !! Thank you :-) Take a time machine, go back 8 years ago and dive into the music videos like "Alors on danse", "Papaoutai", "Tous les mêmes", "Quand c'est", "Formidable", "Carmen"... Each one is a masterpiece such as "Fils de joie" & "L'enfer". Have a nice journey in Stromae's world !! :-)
You are both right...each of Stromae's songs make you FEEL something....and sometimes, it's hard to point out what you like on the very first listen, so you play it again and again and then you find yourself really liking it afterwards. His lyrics are so good too. This song is about depression and from the start of the song when the war cries begin and the piano plays softly you can feel the emotion of sadness and you can sense the madness that he is battling...it's amazing! I would love to hear your thoughts on his song Sante (which means Cheers) from the same album...I think you will love it.... Love your reviews!
You're right, Stromae is quite unique, he might even look "weird", but his songs are something else than disposable pop hits, they often engage people to talk about hard subjects that are overlooked most of the time. And his engagement with both his lyrics and music can also push people to be more curious about uncommon styles and artists.
Lovely reaction :) He's really an artist worth exploring... He's so clever with words whilst being a poet at the same time, he says so much with few words - treat of all good songwriters imo, is an artistic/cinematic talent on top of that and ... icing on the cake.... is one of the most humble, self-questioning and therefore refreshing artists i've come across in my life. And i'm pretty hard into music :p
This music is very strong...after listen this song in France during TV new a lot of people to call "SOS Suicide"...because his music it is art !!! Listen other musics...
Listen to the most incredible and sincere song about depression and mental health : Mr/Mme, by Loic Nottet. It's 6 minutes long but it's intense. The song is in french but with english subtiles.
hi i'm back to leave you my comment after jacques brel, it"s already a guy from brussels like me, i had the chance to talking with him a few years ago, what i can say, when he's on stage, he take the same posture like jacques brel, he's a shy and depressive guy, after his first succes with alors on danse, the music and his words were fully on the opposite side, he sing an other song about cancer, this song is not popular but he talked about it with a words play betweren cancer and quand c'est, when is it, otherwhise about the song your listened, he wrote this after real life moodlets, from his first succes he wasn't prepared to have a succes like this, he create his music with a small synthetiser and a computer after what he write his song, his life was disturbed with hard chokes like the song for his father who was born in rwanda, papaoutai, dad where are you, we have to know that rwanda was a former belgian colony, so you can better understand what sort of link he have between those countries, his life goesup and down, from succesful wis his music and when his feets comings back on the floor, he is back with is real life, between the father that he missed and this sonf here was after a rupture, his emotions are too strongh, so he can dissapear for month or years, now he just will comeback with a new album, he's for me a new style of jacques brel, similar posture, beautifull text and his real life will be his inspiration and he translate this with songs, he will never attempt the brel's level but he is great, again ty for your reactions, i saw rhat you're made a lot of reactions about different songs, you can try a woman from belarus, bianka, you will find it on youtube under bianka musica, she(s my favourite one since the first time i eared her, te reaon is because she will sing everytime in different styles of music, rock, techno, rap, tango etc, i can assure you that you can discover a really special woman with her, my second suggest can be Vitas with the song opera2, his voice is really incredible, i wish you the very best with your future reacts and certainly i n your real life, because of you will never forget the silver clock, so enjoy your life every second like i said in my first comment, it"s too early to wish you an happy new year, but so i think that i will be the first one who telling you this, take care of you an your elders, see ya. ps;and stromae is disturbed between the artist and the human
Thanks. He had a big depression a few years ago. And this song is about what he felt at this time. Try "Quand c'est", i am sure you will love it as well
he still has depression, because it's not a curable illness. it may get better, but it's not gonna go away completely, that's why he sings about it a lot.
I believe it was because he took a malaria medication in Africa with side effects like hallucinations and psychotic episodes He also tried to kill himself but his brother stopped him
Great insight! I enjoyed it. Would you react to « PAPAOUTAI » from Stromae? Really deep and yet upbeat + great acting!!! I think you’d like it very much.
This music is about him, he had to stop his career for 7 years and now too. In this song he talks about himself and these ideas that he unfortunately has.
You should definitely check out "quand c'est" and "tous les memes" These 2 songs are not like "alors on danse", the video, lyrics and meaning are much deeper just like your 2 last reactions. You can only like them and they are almost vintages as they are from his previous album!

Stromae is a phenomenon. He's one of only a few artists that transcend their art.

Dominica is such a fan girl of Stromae but that’s ok. I think he is a kind of Bowie of our era.
In this one, you can be your biggest enemy; in Sante, something external can be your biggest enemy.
