I feel that what makes Stromae so much better than many mainstream American/British musical artists is that he is not afraid to push people's comfort zones, he does not 'cap' his creativity, he does not put out what he thinks 'others' want to hear; he puts out what he wants to show. Music is an art, and art is creativity, but music has been so irredeemably commercialized. He, however, still treats it as an art.

I just came back and seriously, this performance of Ta fête is like one of the most hardcore intros to a concert I've ever seen. Damn. That's like a prime example of how to completely win your crowd within the first track.

I'll be the first to admit I don't speak french fluently or even all that well but from what i do know the subtitles have seemed as accurate as possible considering things can't always be directly translated

some people plan for years to go attend global events like the World Cup, I have been planning for years to get to a Stromae concert. The tour got cancelled last year only two weeks from the London concert, I was gutted but I will be on stand by for his first tour once he is back in business. I don't care if it will be in Mars I will be there frontline :)
I was at that concert with my girlfriend at the time, we're married now. She introduced me to his music. She's French and I was learning French at the time, but still loved it and will never forget that night.

Tariq it took me about a year where I was comfortable to speak. I had mainly two ways I did it, and they were dulingo and my wife. I would use dulingo on my free time, mainly at night. It just depends on how much you want to learn. My tip is to find something like dulingo and use it everyday and watch French movies

I love the moment at the start of "Papaoutai" 1:30:00, when Stromae stop to sing and everyone know the lyrics and sing it, and just after the little smile of Stromae. I don't know, this moment is just beatiful. 😆
Yes!! Especially now, knowing how much shot he has gone through with mental illness it's so wonderful seeing the crowd make him smile. He's said he doesn't like being famous, that fans overwhelm him, but this moment they made him happy!
This is otherworldly. ¡QUÉ ESPECTACULAZO! The singing, the songs themselves, the performance, the dancing, the stage presence, the storytelling, the musicians, the light show, the stage production, the audience. It’s absolutely everything. I bet most of the people that were present there remember this as one of their best experiences in life. I don’t have the words in either English, Spanish nor French to express how insane this is. What an absolute gem to have found on a random Thursday night.

Absolutely Sebastian Pira I totally agree - most concerts don't match the records. Stromae's concert exceeds even his amazing recordings and videos. It is electric. No wonder he burned out.
The band is SO GOOD, the backing vocals are perfect on every song and they show off some pretty nice instrumental chops too. It's not easy to make dance oriented songs sound better live than the recordings but these guys outdo the original on every song. Awesome.
Also, have in mind that this video is posted from a VEVO Account and it had the purpose to promote the artist and band, for what I saw apparentely it has a few alterations in audio and video (you can see some small strange camera transitions)
This is 100× better than the studio versions of the songs, the arrangements and Stromae's voice are out of this world. I wish there was a live album from Montreal.

Keyk.de It’s not that clear but he had a decease and since then he says he suffers from a lot of anxiety and other after treatment symptoms. That’s why he doesn’t want to sing anymore these days. But he still does a lot of beats for some french artists. It’s not the same but you can easily ear that it’s him.
I would love to go back in time (6-7 years ago) to the day I discovered this concert and how mind-blown I was…simply one of the best concerts ever (live or on TH-cam). This concert is utter perfection. I have never in my 68 years on earth loved anyone as much. I discovered Stromae when Cheese was released and fell in love with his work immediately. Subsequently i watched every one of his Leçons and i e watched this particular concert on TH-cam more times than i can count. I never tire of his musical genius, great artistic talent and charisma. He is also very humble. Adorable person and musical genius. I think he'd be a great actor as well. Thank you for enriching my life Stromae. You are a gift to the world.

It's not just this concert. I saw hiw perform on this tour 3 times in different settings (1 indoor in Brussels/ 1 headlining Rock Werchter, a home match for him as well and once at Sziget) all 3 times he was just as good as this I feel. He's never caught lacking on stage.
It,s 2020 now, the world has gone to shit. I can still find peace rewatching this as it was my first concert ever seeing this in milan as a belgian. This was by any means the best cocncert I ever attended and my mom brought me there. I love you mom and I love you Paul Van Haver.
I watched (and rewatched...) this with a mix of feelings. Among them are awe for this unearthly performance, pride (I am Belgian too) and sadness, because we have to miss him and his music... I saw his concert at Werchter Boutique in 2022, but I would like to see more of him...
Only reason he didn`t make it in America is the French language. Sucks for them, because he is hands down one of the best musicians of the last 10 years.

Tariq you are right, it is about exposure, I come from an anglophone state and I never heard of stromae till I went to live in a francophone state, it was unbelievable how many good artists and songs have never been heard by english speakers. A new world was opened to me I started listening to so called “world” music. The sad thing is that anglophone people think they are on top of the arts world with their one view on arts but, the francophones are very advanced in the arts and entertainment. They know and listen to anglophone, and lusophone artists yet we just listen to anglophone and spanish artists. My point is if we are not exposed we will just be reading about good artists after they are gone.
If you are talking about electric music, you know french people have more sense in this kind of music than anyone else. So this reasoning is kinda absurd.
He's basically one of the only French artists people know in the states though. My best friend who hates the French language listens to a few of his songs (which she found on her own) I think he made it pretty well considering he had artists like sia wanting to work with him.

This is easily one of the most tightly-choreographed, brilliantly produced concerts I've seen. The editing for this version is just as impressive.
This is otherworldly. ¡QUÉ ESPECTACULAZO! The singing, the songs themselves, the performance, the dancing, the stage presence, the storytelling, the musicians, the light show, the stage production, the audience. It’s absolutely everything. I bet most of the people that were present there remember this as one of their best experiences in life. I don’t have the words in either English, Spanish nor French to express how insane this is. What an absolute gem to have found on a random Thursday night.
And you'll keep coming back again and again, and it will always hit with the same intensity. 🙌

The band is SO GOOD, the backing vocals are perfect on every song and they show off some pretty nice instrumental chops too. It's not easy to make dance oriented songs sound better live than the recordings but these guys outdo the original on every song. Awesome.
well they've been with him since day 1, and still are, he didn't "randomly" picked them ... so yeah somehow they're a band..

But he still does a lot of beats for some french artists. It’s not the same but you can easily ear that it’s him.
I would love to go back in time (6-7 years ago) to the day I discovered this concert and how mind-blown I was…simply one of the best concerts ever (live or on TH-cam). Stromae, you are one of the best artists of our generation. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent with the world. You’re truly missed, but I hope you’re doing well.

This concert is utter perfection. I have never in my 68 years on earth loved anyone as much. I discovered Stromae when Cheese was released and fell in love with his work immediately. Subsequently i watched every one of his Leçons and i e watched this particular concert on TH-cam more times than i can count. I never tire of his musical genius, great artistic talent and charisma. He is also very humble. Adorable person and musical genius. I think he'd be a great actor as well. Thank you for enriching my life Stromae. You are a gift to the world.

It's not just this concert. I saw hiw perform on this tour 3 times in different settings (1 indoor in Brussels/ 1 headlining Rock Werchter, a home match for him as well and once at Sziget) all 3 times he was just as good as this I feel. He's never caught lacking on stage.
I was there with my daughter who was 13. My best concert ever (and her first one!)(that set the standards pretty high let me tell you!)

Tariq you are right, it is about exposure, I come from an anglophone state and I never heard of stromae till I went to live in a francophone state, it was unbelievable how many good artists and songs have never been heard by english speakers. A new world was opened to me I started listening to so called “world” music. The sad thing is that anglophone people think they are on top of the arts world with their one view on arts but, the francophones are very advanced in the arts and entertainment. They know and listen to anglophone, and lusophone artists yet we just listen to anglophone and spanish artists. My point is if we are not exposed we will just be reading about good artists after they are gone.
If you are talking about electric music, you know french people have more sense in this kind of music than anyone else. So this reasoning is kinda absurd.
He's basically one of the only French artists people know in the states though. My best friend who hates the French language listens to a few of his songs (which she found on her own) I think he made it pretty well considering he had artists like sia wanting to work with him.
