I'm sold after I saw a friends Dart get in an accident (it got sandwiched in the front and back). Not only did it survive, only the bumper guards were severely caved in - it still ran just fine. The bumpers are held on by zip ties. For a cheap reliable commuter car i'm pretty dead set on getting one now.
Brownbear the IIHS safety measurements are really impressive, better than almost every vehicle even SUVs in side impact measurements that is why I'm getting this car for my teenagers.
this is an 11 year old video so I doubt I'll get a response. But I ended up getting a 2015 Dart Rallye with a 2.4 and it's been a very reliable and fun car. I adore the ambient lighting in the interior and it's design and stance is beautiful and aggressive.
Ive owned a 1 owner dodge dart sxt 2.0 since 2021 and out a good 100k miles on it currently gonna get a tune uo next week. Quick n good on gas may buy another one
I wish they still made this and I believe if they actually made this with stronger engine options it would sell better. Look up the IIHS measurements and that is impressive.
I'm really thinking about buying a 2013 Dart sxt ,with the 2.0 . I'm usually a Honda guy but since taking the Dodge for a test drive I've thought about buying it none stop . My only gripe is the car is white which means I would be at the car wash more than driving it lol , for being a compact car and only having a 2.0 4 cylinder it gets up and goes and sounds cool as well , the chrome alloy wheels are a plus as well .
This car is amazing for the class. It's spacious, sporty, quiet and comfortable. My friend let me Dive his Dart from Chicago were he bought it to Miami were we live. Definitely the future cars. It is an awesome car.
I love these segments, it's stuff they don't always advertise that can really sell a car for some people... Keep up the superb work, guys. P.S. If only they hadn't named it the Dart...
I love the the sound of the 1.4 turbo, sounds impressive. The under seat storage, was a nice touch, but sad to say, the 2014, they loose the seat storage. I agree with Bryee Standish, I have the Limited with the 1.4, and have had it for 5 months now, and still a thrill to drive,, and it is peppy for a heavy car with a small motor..
That's good to hear when compared to the Mazdaspeed3, which i have found the most communicative FWD in the U.S. market, Golf included. I'd love to rent a manual to get a feel over a couple of days, before committing to one.
I never thought id see myself buying a Dart then I drove one , and I got a smokin deal! Ive done a muffler delete and added a K&N typhoon intake , it adds to the fun factor:)
Same engine, different output and completely different sound. The FIAT 500 Abarth has a thick baritone mixed with lots of crackles and pops. It sings. The Dodge Dart has about 24% of the FIAT's personality sound-wise. It's much quieter and fairly tame. Great question!
Rode in a Dart 2.0 today, it sounded really good, and had really great pick for a car that not only had only that N/A 2.0 but full of big guys and junk in the truck (pun not intended).
What makes a car reliable is the way it's built primarily, so efficient plants. Fiat used to have crappy plants but in the last fewyears it started to renew the plants and adopt WCM standards. Now Fiat has some of the most advanced plants in Europe, I guess they are trying to do the same with Chrysler.
The problem I have with the Dart is that the aggressive front end doesn't match the vanilla engine and Librarian rear end. Like the Avenger, it had a good face, and that was it.
Think they got the seat idea from the fast and furious movie. That's where vin diesel had his nitrous bottles hidden. LOL I wonder two things though. Does it make for a stiffer seat? And also id be wary of putting too much stuff, or even one item just too big that it'd be forgotten before someone sat down. Aside that. I do like the car and yah that does sound great!
Nathan, are you based out of colorado? ive always wanted to test drive cars and i live 10 minutes from red rocks, if you are based out of colorado is there by any chance you need help with any of the testing? im a car enthusiest but just have never had the money to get into the field
If I was still a Dodge person I'd buy this, but I've moved into the world of hybrids with 50mpg or better economy. (Honda insight 2-seater, Toyota Prius, Chevy Volt). I had an Omni, Caravelle, Shadow, and Avenger .
Nice little car with good design and engineering, wish all future dodge products are this innovative, those 8inches display and extra internal storage, as well as exhaust sound puts all same classed imports to shame!
I love ours I had a 13 turbo manual loved it vs the cruze. wife's cruze always had issues...always even on the second one...she has a 13 2.0 rallye love the exhaust notes both cars have plus touch screen and interior and it is quite ride surprisingly. wife's had wheel bearing replaced at 80k but vs all my gm car friends they would have been in for their 2nd or 3rd one by now
I should our wheel bearing still covered on warranty gm warranty sucks we had to pay for 3 of the 4 to be replaced and 4th one was getting loud on trade in at 38k that was on the cruze.
It was a whole month before I found the volume and skip radio/cd buttons on the steering wheel. I bet there's a lot of drivers who don't know about that.
I like the Dart design and everything but I am still hesitant about getting a 2.0 equipped version. The 1.4 turbo is hard to find and dealers seem to be adding quite the sticker to the overall price. To get a car near 20-23k, you are looking at the 2.0 engine. From all the reviews I have seen, the 2.0 is ungodly slow, especially when compared to it's older sibling, the Dodge Neon.
Of course it's a mix of the two but where the Japaneses excel is manufacturing and you can see the result. Btw is not about the workers but about the production process.
Nathan your one of the luckiest jerks I know too LOL!!! I would love to have a job testing cars even if all the cars weren't exotic. Just the fun of trying different cars out and seeing how they preform....total awesomeness!
i keep trying to tell the fiatnics but they dont see that everything from the 1.4 is seriously watered down from the abarth. the DDCT is watered down, the tune is watered down, the suspension is watered down. GO GT OR GO HOME.
Jake Rheault update. I traded my 2.4l GT for a 2007 focus zx5 and never looked back. The lack of modifications, custom tuning and no next gen dart are all reasons to not get a dart. Or when they end production is best time to buy a cheap alternative to a corolla. Lol. My focus will smoke any 2.4 dart on the street.
I love the look of the car, has a really nice interior, etc. I just wish it wasn't so damn slow. I've seen so many TH-cam videos of this car just getting stomped by stock civics and Mazda 3's. I'm still probably going to get a 2013 Dart Limited for because they are so damn cheap. Only around $12K CAD, which is only $9.4K USD.
One thing that is not mentioned in these reviews that is absolutely HORRIBLE on the Dart turbo is the emissions control equipment that completely divorces throttle response from your foot. All you have to do is point the camera at the tachometer and let off the throttle with the clutch in... it hangs for a while. Even pressing the gas feels very laggy, far more than is normal even for a turbocharged engine. If you're just going in a straight line it doesn't matter, in cornering its a PITA.
Haha, no i said the exact same thing on a video a while back. I just can't stand how she shakes her head as if she likes it while that engine is revving at the limiter. Engines don't sound nice near the limiter.

Has anyone had a problem with their 13 Turbo Dart jerking when picking up speed, not cranking sometimes, not going in gear sometimes, the screen blacking out or the navigation system not working(saying no map info)? Just asking, cause I'm about to send this nice piece of shit back to the dealership. It's been to the shop 8 to 10 times in 6 months. Runs great, but clearly has issues.....please help
yes my screen went black and i was not sure why it did that. and i actually experienced the jerking while driving when i was trying to pick up speed today but it was in a different gear.
Just the perfect car for me! Super Fast Cars are quite useless to me, besides too much speed costs me few grand the police, insurance and gas rips from my pocket,, I need it for commuting or going out with the friends! :D
What I wanna know is how reliable & durable this car is gonna be ?? Even though, it's European, It's still a Dodge in my mind, and Dodge have never been reliable cars... Not compare to Japanese...
I miss the days when dodge went for cheap performance... Now they have all of this extra garbage that's just not necessary. They don't get any better looking with the years either.
I want this exact car. Exact trim exact color please!!! The storage cubby under the seat would be super useful for me ;) and I LOVE the screens so much and the interior and the way it drives I love it! But i'll take the american 2.4 over the shitty italian engine please.
I've had my brand new 2016 dart for a month. it's a piece of shit. I test drove a 2.4 at a used lot and somehow got a 2.0 from dodge. very slow even lags like crazy. for the same money I could have gotten a accord sport. much faster bigger and better on gas

Ramon Padilla nice.

I just bought me a 2013 1.4 mopar turbo 6 speed manual and love it! Fun car to drive!
I just have the the base model 2.0L engine, but I have the stickshift fortunately.
Hell yeah!! Ive got #56 mopar edition!

Heavy is right. its 100 pounds more than my 96 dakota v8 which is ALOT faster than my 2014 dart GT.
@@tomc8157 I have since gotten rid of my Dart. But it was a fun car...but was slow

1:30 reminds me of the F&F scene where vin hides his Nos

which dart and you still got it?
+DareMe Fiasco yes still got her 2013 1.4t rallye w 75k on the odo
DSMerkonmyface still have her?
Nathan, do u think that future Dodges will become more like the Dart in a Styling standpoint interior and exterior
It works. I think the pad surrounding the opening is heated and the whole seat bottom heats up over time.
Same engine, different output and completely different sound. The FIAT 500 Abarth has a thick baritone mixed with lots of crackles and pops. It sings. The Dodge Dart has about 24% of the FIAT's personality sound-wise. It's much quieter and fairly tame. Great question!

Would it be a good first car?
1.4l turbo 6 speed manual dart is the most fun car I've owned
Great review and a great sense of humor.
Hi do u still like the car ? Please respond? Did it have any major issues? We’re they expensive to fix? Please help.
Nathan, how you compare the sound of the Dart turbo with the Fiat Abarth??? Are these the same engines, right?
I really wish I could afford this car. Just a college student though driving my dad's Chevy Aveo... don't make fun of me ):
Now its 2022 and I just got one for a great price...then it wouldnt start...modular replacement $1100.... 😬
@@AhJodie funny thing is I actually got one and sold it 😂 my comment is so funny. I now drive an IONIQ 5
I was just going to say, I hope you got the car you wanted! Hahaha this is wholesome.
You can now! $8k-10k.
Wrong!!! I just bought a used dart only 70k miles and it broke down!!
The problem I have with the Dart is that the aggressive front end doesn't match the vanilla engine and Librarian rear end.
Like the Avenger, it had a good face, and that was it.

I’m sad they stopped making these
Thaks for your answer, that gives me a good view of what to expect from both cars... :)
Sounds really good. Seems to be a pretty good car for its class
They got the seat storage idea from fast and the furious. It was used for NOS.
i love when you guys do "top 3 unexpected surprises" but Roman does a better job because Nathan got lazy with the first two surprises.
How about seat heating with those opening seats?
THE SEATS DO HEAT
any idea if they're gonna rebadge this as a Chrysler 100?
Not rebadge - but yes, there will be a Chrysler 100 based on it, and it'll be a hatch from what I've been reading
Nice little car with good design and engineering, wish all future dodge products are this innovative, those 8inches display and extra internal storage, as well as exhaust sound puts all same classed imports to shame!
that exhaust surprisingly sounds good
The exhaust not for the dart turbo is a beautiful thing
So before making this video you've had surprises that you've expected?
I love ours I had a 13 turbo manual loved it vs the cruze. wife's cruze always had issues...always even on the second one...she has a 13 2.0 rallye love the exhaust notes both cars have plus touch screen and interior and it is quite ride surprisingly. wife's had wheel bearing replaced at 80k but vs all my gm car friends they would have been in for their 2nd or 3rd one by now

Nope.
I have a 13 sxt 2.0 and it's perfect
I thought nowadays the exhaust wasn't from the engine, but more from the type of exhaust it had?
Hopefully one day they will make a srt4
U should put the con on the next video like shake a lot at every stop
Well, the Avenger has a little more than "a good face", it has the 283hp Pentastar V6 to backup it's claim...
Mine have none of these 🤣
Jeny Padilla hola
Asphalt 8
