    My brother just got one of these in Aero trim. It's a great car and I'm a little jealous of all the tech. The exhaust sounds that good in real life too.

    I remember that. I was in grade school back in those days. I also remember being in high school and seeing my friends drive their parents old cars from the early and mid 90s.

    I have been driving this as a rental for about a week now in FL and it is FANTASTIC. Its the base model with the convenience package as it has power windows/locks etc. but no navi/uconnect big screen - still has aux input and bluetooth streaming so phone pairs perfectly with head unit. The interior is surpringsly comfy (seats are great, soft but supportive at the same time) and I would only complain about rear seat legroom, would be great to see perhaps an additional 3" or so.
    The ride is quiet and the car feels composed even in not such great patches of road. This thing is not a rocket off the line, but then again it has plenty of power for 99% of real world driving and the engine noise barely registers inside the cabin (which is most important to me). The stereo is also impressive for being stock.. great sound.
    35K on the odometer in this guy and the car really feels like its just getting warmed up, no issues whatsoever. If they can keep reliability issues from creeping up, then this is a real winner. Will be sad to return this in a few days..

    I got the V6 SE Avenger. It has the customer preferred package that includes the spoiler, alloy wheels, two tone interior, 6 speaker sound system, dual exhaust tips, U-Connect, and 1 year satelight radio. I paid just as much for the car as a Dart SE with AC and 6 speed auto. Definitely worth it, because that 2.0 liter is nothing compared to the 3.6L V6. If you plan on keeping the car for many years, get the lifetime bumper to bumper warranty. They sign a contract to your name with the warranty.

    I test drove the Dart in Limited trim with 1.4 turbo and 6 Speed Dual clutch auto and I found the drive train the balkiest thing in memory. I also found the engine unpleasantly noisy.

    The best thing you can do is go on the Dodge website. Deals vary by time of the year and the location. The best time to buy a new car is towards the end of August when there is a small selection of the current model year left. When I got the Avenger, I was given $3000 cash back, so the turbo Dart would've actually been more than the V6 Avenger. I do mostly highway driving, so the Dart wasn't practical. I also didn't like the tail lights, because a cop can spot you from a mile away with them.

    Dont rule out the Avenger. I bought mine for the same price as a similarly equipped Dart.

    Why does everyone rag on dodge. I drive a 1999 dodge neon 5 speed. Has over 183000 miles and still running strong. I've owned nothing but dodges and had no problems other then basic maintenance. My dad has a 89 dodge van. He never changed the oil in it and it has over 250000 miles on it. And it still runs to this day.

    I'm the same height as you. The seats can be manually adjusted 3 ways in the car. It's just like any other of the newer cars out there. The ride height is great. You can see over the roof of small cars, and through vans, trucks, and SUVs

    (Post 3) Don't go with the first offer they give you. They told me $3600 at first, then I said that I know they can sell it to me cheaper, and if not then I will go aftermarket. Make them call your bluff, because you don't want to go aftermarket with that. The factory one lets you go to any Chrysler dealer in the US. Aftermarket ones only let you go to select dealers or they only allow for a technician to look at the car for an hour.

    Yes, FCA, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles made a quality crafted and sporty C-segment car with the Dart badge, but why did they halt production back in 09-16? Capital expenditures and a car built too fast for Fiat's payback from Chrysler! I think the Dart was and still is the most stylish and best built C-Segment
    car within the company's
    history. What now for FCA? Look for a newly badged Dodge Neon for 2018 we hope because both a customer base and equity exists with that Mopar 1995-2005 run!

    Signing on the dotted line for a limited 1.4 ddc with all the goodies in true blue/light frost interior. I could have bought a few others, but I think in the long run after having driven the focus, the forte, the elantra, and one other I can't think of, the Dart won me over. It's not going to be the most popular of the compact sized contenders, but it works very well for me.

    The Chevy Cruze Eco is 20k. It will go 130 mph. At half that speed it gets 40 mpg. It is fun to drive. The Mazda FWD CX5 starts at 20k with a six speed manual it is an excellent automobile it is built like a tank handles fantastic and gets above 30 mpg in the real world. The Forester starts at 21k with AWD and a manual. The new Subaru XV crossover has AWD is about the same size as the Caliber but has a beautiful interior, starting with ac ,power windows AMFM cd it is 22k. The list moves on.

    Your right, im sory, when my dad got the van in 1994 it already had 144000 miles on it. he thought it would be nice to change the oil and filter so he did in 1994 since he just got it. it also had a slow oil leak on the valve cover so he had to put in a half quart in it about every 2 months. in 2006 he changed the oil out to some used air commpressor oil that he got from work. the old van didnt like that thin oil so he changed the oil to some new oil. still has the same filter on it from 1993

    I love my Dart in Rallye trim. It has every factory option for its trim with the exception of 2, engine block heater and the smokers package (an ashtray and lighter). I'm averaging 32 mpg around Chicagoland on regular gasoline, NOT premium.

    (Post 2) This car was at a different dealership, but the dealership I wanted to buy from was the only dealer in the area with an Auto Awards program. So, I figured they would just do a dealer trade and then they could get the sale. We came to an agreement on the price, because they told me upfront that my employee discount was actually as low as they could sell the car. The disagreement was on the trade-in. I wanted $2500 and they wanted to give me $1500.

    (Post 3) I already had the preferred supplier discount through my employer, so I was given the lowest price possible upfront. The thing with negotiating is if you can make them feel like you will go somewhere else, then you can get the lowest price. Tuesday and Thursdays are good too. Or if you take too long. I was in there for 6 hours, by then he was eager to see the next customer.

    (Post 2) I don't know how bad insurance would be on one either. The rates tend to be higher on small cars, because they are considered "sporty." Mine is a "Passenger Sedan" and I have the Tungsten Gray color. Cars with flashy colors are higher on insurance as well.

  • @simpleman72685
    @simpleman72685 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    They couldn't have because I had the preferred supplier discount. I bought the car at invoice -2% -$3000 cash rebate. That was the 2012 price. The 2013 models had no cash rebate. With the Dart the invoice was the same as the MSRP, and there was no discount. So I got the Avenger V6 SE loaded for the same price as a Dart with an automatic plus air conditioning. I think my total discount was about $3500. If you have a vehicle worth scrapping, do a trade. I never would've been able to sell mine.

  • @simpleman72685
    @simpleman72685 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think my truck was junked and my car probably went for $3000 somewhere. Cars with low miles are easy to sell now. If your car is in good shape, sell it on the street. You will get $500 for a trade since it's been in a wreck. They may give you $1000 but take $500 off the rebate as a teaser rate. They did the same thing to me. The first offer was $3000 rebate, $1500 trade. Then it was changed to $2000 rebate, $2500 trade.

    Any car over the age of 10 and has over 100,000 miles will get you nothing on a trade. I traded a 1989 Chevy K1500 V8 4X4 and a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am V6 with both cars fully loaded for $1500. I got $500 for the truck which is standard, and $1000 for the car because it had excellent tires on it with no glass defects. The car had only 91000 miles on it as well. Both vehicles were in bad shape, so I doubt they made any money on them after doing all the repairs that were needed.

    LOL to the tigershark. Who made that name?
    This car is pretty good on the paper, but I wonder why it's not picking up any sale numbers. Also, the 40 mpg claim might seem a pretty optimistic.

  • @simpleman72685
    @simpleman72685 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Dart with alloy wheels, an automatic, decent sound system, and A/C puts it at just over $20,000. There are no sales on the car. This should change with time though. A similarly equiped Dart would've cost me I think $700 more than my Avenger did. So the Avenger was definitely a better buy for me.

  • @simpleman72685
    @simpleman72685 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    With my discount it's better to get the Avenger. Without it, it depends on what you want. The best thing to do is to go on Dodge's website. I found out that a similarly equipped Dart now goes for $1200 more than what I spent on my Avenger. My discount is pretty much worthless on the Dart because the invoice matches the MSRP. If you are fine with the 4 cylinder 4 speed in the Avenger, then you should be able to get the Avenger cheaper as well.

  • @TomDeVito
    @TomDeVito 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I will.25 mpg is pretty good i think for a v6. Upside you get more power then a 4 cylinder lol. From the back the avenger looks like the previous gen charger. But you do know more about dodges then i do lmao. And trust me if were to speed i would stick to the track

    I know right 10 years ago SE used to be the top of the line model on most cars. The base model dart don't come with A/C? And I agree with you on that. If i get the dart or avenger or whatever car all i ask is that is comes with A/C

    The cheaper Forester with AWD and far more room is about 200 pounds lighter. Even with its middling interior it is 4 times the CUV. The Forester is "fun" to drive and very dependable. The worst thing about the Caliber was the CVT transmission, slow performance and bad MPG. The Jeep Compass and Patriot are basically the Caliber with upgraded interiors and more room with the option of 4WD. The SRT4 even with 300 hp just was not up to carrying on the torch from the lighter more fun to drive neon.

  • @simpleman72685

    (Post 2) The way the warranty works is it takes over after the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. You pay a $100 deductible for anything that needs to be fixed. They asses how much it will cost to fix the problem and they look at how much your car is worth. When that point comes to where it costs more to fix the car than what the car is worth, then they buy the car off of you. So you will get more out of it than a lousy trade-in value. I paid $3000 for mine.

      I'd not get a Toyota. I owned one. Parts and service are very expensive. And I don't think the quality justifies the price. I think most are actually kind of cheap. I rent cars often, and the Toys are nothing to write home about. Boring is the best word to describe them.

      I know it's been a long time since you asked this question but I have a 2013 Dart with the limited trim and the 1.4 liter turbo engine. It has 80,000 miles on it and I've never had any trouble. I would check consumer reports about the gas mileage. I'm supposed to get 19/29. I actually get 25 hwy, and I do very little city so I can't say what I get there. My car just has too much power to get what they claim. The nice thing about it is that I get the same mileage with it loaded down as I do with just me in the drivers seat. The Avenger's platform is the old 4 door Stratus. With your last question, if you speed then you don't want an eye catching car.

    By no means is that van healthy internally, it just may be getting the minimum requirement of lubrication, adding oil every month may keep it from sludging up to badly but i highly doubt it. your dad has just gotten lucky with that van and if he tries it on any new car it WILL break. As for the thermostat, the degree rating of the thermostat does nothing for the peak operating temp of the engine. it opens when it sees the correct temperature then the engine takes over from there.

    Actually it is not impossible. I went to A&P school with a kid that had a Ford Ranger truck his parents bought him. He never changed the oil in it until it had 56,000 miles. And the truck was running fine. Its not impossible but it is stupid. That oil looked nasty.

    seems pretty cheap from dodge to not include AC on the base model. I didn't know you could actually buy a new car without AC. unless you live in the mountains or states like north Dakota or Montana you will need the AC. Even then Montana does have days when it gets pretty warm and AC would be appreciated. I live in South Cali desert area so AC is a must

    O ok.So basically you got a pretty good deal? and is the avenger a mid size car? If i didn't get my car fixed i would have scrapped it. Most likely i will trade or sell it

    Yeah in a year or two i am gonna get rid of my car. I actually got into a car accident two months ago and the whole front end of my car was smashed in. Luckily i was ok just very shaken up and so was the person that i hit. Long story short the person was stopped right in the middle of the road no one in front of her i tried to slam on my breaks to little to late only her bumper fell off.

    Yeah the stratus wasn't the best seller. I am keeping the avenger as a another car if i don't get the dart. And i'm about 5'8 i do believe you about it being roomy how tall are you?

    @TomDeVito 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    O ok. What dealership did you go to? And i think the dealer wants to give you the lowest price for your trade.

    and also he ran a 160 termstat so he wasnt burning up his motor and oil by running it at nearly 200 degrees. he also has a 71 dump truck that he has never changed the oil in for a fact. just adds some more when it needs it. but he did change the filter on that one because the oring on it cracked from old age and wouldnt stop leaking. so yea. im not trying to be an ahole or any thing. or telling about our vehicles that still run and drive to this day

    (Post 2) Go to autotrader website, and do the trade in thing on it. Dealers like to go by that.

    oh boy bad luck for me because my mazda 626 has over 132,000 miles on it lol. I don't know how much i will get back for it when it comes time to get rid of the car. The older cars if they are in great shape then the dealer will sell them on their lot if not then they junk them or sell them for parts or give them to small car lots

    Is that without leather and sat nav? and for me i don't need a fancy sound system all i need is a/c a decent sound system. and some comfy seats. Maybe heated cause it does get pretty cold up here in jersey. But i don't need a heated steering wheel. But basically your saying it's better to go with avenger as opposed to the dart. Meh i might get the dart i don't know which one i want yet.

    I'm just comparing SEs What used to make a car fully loaded 10 years ago is pretty much standard today. That's why I was shocked to see the Dart doesn't come with A/C standard. I'm surprised you can still get hubcaps standard, because steel wheels are heavier than aluminum wheels. The base price of the Dart is lower, but the cash back offered on the Avenger brings the price down to the level of the Dart. I think that will change next year, but we will see.

    O ok. And yeah i will check out dodge's website before i get a new car. I don't need the top of the line model. I would get some were in the middle if anything.

  • @TomDeVito
    @TomDeVito 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok then thank you i will :D. And yeah at the end of each month is when all the car dealer ships with give you their best sale. And should is ask for more cash back when it comes time to go looking at cars? The dart get's around 40 mpg to about 38 i think on the freeway. But i do like the power the avenger has it looks like a baby charger which shares it platform right? and is that bad if a cop can spot them from a mile away?

  • @TomDeVito
    @TomDeVito 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well if the car is used and old then you can buy a mid size sedan or any under $20,000 lol. And the dart starts at 15,000 but after taxes and everything comes out to 16,000 still pretty good

    Only the base Dart doesn't come with A/C. I only have interest in American cars. SE for as long as I know was always the base model or one step above the base model.

    For the comment below about a Prius getting better Mpgs than this.. Well.. Yea, it's a Prius hybrid. Id much rather be driving this than that and the argument is always there about the Prius nickel metal mining and now lithium.. Rebadged alpha Romeo
