I felt sorry for the sister in episode 8. I mean she’s the one taking care of her mother yet, her sister is her favorite. Then dr. Cooper asked her about dating her sister when there’s a chance their mom could have cancer. You could see her disappointment when he asked her about her sister and that really made me feel for her. You can see she thought he would ask her out. I can tell that she’s overlooked way too often.
Nurse Jackie was part of the Golden Age of TV along with The Wire, the Sopranos....I actually miss those characters, almost like they real people I knew in my life (I know, lame). And of course, what was her name, the British doctor character and their surreptitious fancy lunches. And the nurse who starts new with the show, Meredith? I loved it so much.
Being a nurse is not what you think, you work very long hard hours and sometimes with no break. Its very high stress, smoking helps with that among other things..
I loved this show back when, tbh I was struggling with same addiction during shows first two seasons. I wish I could say she gave me strength but I found it on my own. Still a great show, but the addiction part gives me ghosts of anxiety from a lifetime ago.
Yeah, I know, but it just seems hypocritical for them to smoke, when they discourage it with their patients, because of all the health risks like lung cancer.
Lung cancer among other things. These risks are also true even when said by a smoker. I wonder however how judgemental the tone of the smoking doctor is when they explain those risks...

why is it against the 'rules' for a doctor to treat their family?
Because ones judgement can be compromised. The doctor will be more emotional, not thinking as clearly, therefore more prone to mistakes.
