"Join me for part two of my trip to the Ulster American Folk Museum in Co. Tyrone. In this final video of the two-part series, we'll be disembarking the ship and taking our first weary steps on the cobbled streets of the new world.
We discover the delights of the General Store, the progression of building techniques, decorate cosy new wooden cabins, and view the start of prosperity for the new settlers.

Most Americans have no clue what their ancestors went through on their journey to the US and the struggles they faced after getting here, I'm so glad i love history and could never take my ancestors for granted. Just regular life was so hard back then I can only imagine the courage it would take to climb into a wooden ship and spend months at sea hoping they reach a land they've only heard about 🥰
It’s so true. Their stories have faded a lot and it’s easy to forget their immense struggle. Museums like this really help bring to life their brave spirit and the struggles they faced to begin a new life in a new world 💚✨🙏
I am a descendant of those Ulster settlers. In fact I have yet to find a single line of ancestors who arrived in America any later than the American Revolution. The museum is amazing! At first I thought you had taken a trip to the US!

Gillian, thank you for sharing this lovely museum. So many left Ireland for a better life in America, including both my husband's grandfathers, and now we want to come back as often as we can to where it all began. I can't imagine what it took for them to leave behind everything they knew to start over thousands of miles away. This is why history should never be erased. Love to you and the kitties❤🍀🐈🍁🐈⬛

This was very interesting and the scenery was beautiful. My grandpa immigrated America when he was 21 from Norway and went back again a couple of times to get other family members

Yes! It’s around 25 acres, and they have an ongoing development plan to construct more replica/original homes on the site. Would be wonderful to see more homesteads from the American side 🥰💕🙏

Thank you so much for sharing this, Gillian - my ancestors left Ireland during the famine to look for a better life in America. While I have certainly heard the stories of the “old county” that have passed down over the generations, it adds such an interesting dimension to see the history of that journey, as it was experienced by so many, interpreted at the museum you feature here. C'est beau comme toujours, beau a pleurer ( pour moi) , pourquoi ? La maison en bois de mon enfance, là où j'ai été élevé par mes grands parents maternels ,crelle ci m'ayant " confié) a leur bons soins( les animaux ,le Petit jardin devant ,la basse-cour, le grand potager, les livres, la musique les chats, les chiens et la solitude, tout à disparue sauf en moi !
