Six years ago I got to visit Ireland with my husband, it would turn out to be our only trip abroad together, he passed away a year and half ago after 42 wonderful years together. @@LostForest Thank you for your video. I can so relate to the snoozefest of the cats and that Chubbers is taking his turn to sit on everyone. I know a few cats, who seem to play a lot. To the point they have trouble noticing one of the bystanders sneaking to the water bowls and spilling it all for himself, while pretending that I'm the one at fault. And another one who should be playing, generally hissing at everyone, while ignoring anything I tell him. He just pretends to hear, whatever he wants to hear. A third cat seems to ignore the play, she is invited in altogether and hiss and scratch at me. I'm not really sure, if it was her, I just noticed a lot of threats towards me last time I wanted to go for a walk. Not sure if the fourth cat even sees me, he is relatively new and almost magical. He usually notices things very quickly, so I wonder if he even sees me now, because his actions have shifted after the trouble-making bystander started to splash water everywhere and I feel like I get blamed yet again for something I never even did. I don't even know what I'm blamed for, since the cats wont tell me. I probably wouldn't realize what they mean anyway, to be fair. I didn't yet get to see what the others do, because the entire thing is distracting me. Not sure if this is a snoozefest, but it sure isn't helping me one bit either... I'm worried that the kitties will blame me for going thirsty, when I didn't have a chance to stop the little trouble-maker. He seems to get ignored, because he didn't join the game officially. The playful cats did blame me on a similar occasion before and for some reason my own actions seem to be less believeable to them then what one of them pretends to be my fault... I'm pretty sure by now, that the game is supposed to determine, who wins me as their staff... Which I find pretty unfair, since I never treated them badly, as far as I can tell. It's like they convinced each other, that I treat all cats badly, found the "solution" by putting me on the staff of one cat, who is then supposed to ensure, I don't treat anyone else badly (which I never did before anyway) and are now fighting over who wins me as his/her staff. Funnily, the one who seemed to start all this (and the "solution") had been found out. But instead of checking if I ever did anything I was accused of, they went right back to their "solution", without even trying to find out if this was fair or not. They seem to believe any lies, that let's them feel that the "solution" is fair and necessary. Even to the point of refusing to let me prove my innocence. I tried to offer anything I could think of to prove my innocence during the first blame-shifting. Nothing was ever good enough or was even tried. Right now, they don't even seem to hear me. Let alone allow me to prove my innocence. It's very frustrating. It's like I'm an object to them, whose opinion simply doesn't count. Whose rights doesn't exist. I do wonder if or how much of those things, they blamed and/or blame me for, was in fact something I actually did and not just something, I was blamed for. I would happily give some serious money for that answer. Did I actually ever do anything to them other than give them food and water? I don't expect cats to act like dogs and be happy whenever I visit them. But I do wonder if anything, that makes them angry, is in fact my fault at all. Or if they just scapegoat me for being conveniently unable to speak their language and therefore the trouble-makers expect to get away with it, since I wouldn't know how to get across that I did not do that. Or even what they are blaming me for! I do like the cats, but the trouble-makers are making a reasonable relationship very difficult. To the point I start to get wary about each cat. For the simple reason, that they seem to disregard what I did do, in favor for what others pretend I did. They seem to switch opinions very quickly. I hope the cats will notice things and play more nicely with each other. And stop being mad at everything someone claims, I caused. Lots of love from europe
@@madeleineg2049 I'm so sorry to hear that. I wouldn't take their actions personally at all. Cats' behaviour is not like our own, and they don't hold grudges or judgements like people do. If there's a lot of males together, this can cause them to lash out in a manner to gain the top 'pecking order' amongst their own group. The kitty knocking over the dish is likely proving a point to them, not you. It appears he wants to annoy the others as he is lower down on the cat hierarchy. If they are not neutered, I would highly recommend doing so, as this will dramatically change their bad behaviours and settle their hormones down. Just leave extra water bowls around the house or garden, so they can have fresh water when they need it, and also try to make some time in your day to play with them, as cats usually act badly to signal to you that they would like your attention. Hope that helps!❤
@@LostForest Thank you for the advice. ❤ I don't take it personally, but I worry. I tried leaving lots of water bowls out, but the little trouble-maker (who I think is already neutered) seems to basicly trying to bath in the water, he is spilling. So aims for any bowls as soon as I set it down... I asked a nice neighbor to also put some water outside, so hopefully the worst can be avoided. And the bad behaviour seems to stem mainly from 2 females in this case. Most females are perfectly nice, but the male ones seem to get distracted by the females into bad behaviour. I want to play with the cats, but right now everything I do, is answered by the females and they seem to be sure I hiss at everyone. I just want to be friends with the cats... I just don't know if they will ever let me... Sorry, I didn't mean to whine at you. I'm just not sure, if you believe me, that not all of it is part of the game. And instead believe all is part of the game and that I simply don't know cat behaviour well enough to see that. I did play with the cats before. In a very nice way, too. But there also was a time when everything went off the rails during summer. And I see the signs of exactly this behaviour... Well, it's not like I can stop them.
@@madeleineg2049 yes I understand how frustrating it can be. In my experience, female cats are not as friendly, and generally don’t integrate well into male groups. They mostly stay together or alone. I have two females and they go off and do their own thing, and one in particular will snap at the boys, while the males stay with me in a group. It may be, in the case with your cats, that the some of them have a feral gene, and unfortunately their bad and unfriendly behaviour is ingrained in them and often not changeable. Perhaps as they get older they will mellow a bit but may never be truly friendly or sociable cats. For the bowl, maybe try a cat drinking fountain, and this may stop him sitting in the bowl. I wish you the best with them 💕

I had a little house & acre of garden in PA with so many plants like yours, but age took it's toll & I moved back to a suburban home with a small garden. Not much in the way of gardening going on now I'm 83, but your garden is so gorgous it is a joy to watch all this beauty happening. Such a green & lush area too, that is Ireland's heritage of course, and that is how I believe we were all meant to live in tune with the natural world. Thank you for our video - love the cats - they certainly know they are living in heaven !

So so beautiful - in Ontario Canada we had a very different summer too - June and beginning of July very warm the rest very wet with cooler days and a few hot ones in between - typical weather of British Columbia really but they have had a horrible sumxmer with forest fires - I,don't think Mother Earth is very happy with us with what we have done to the Earth. Thank you for bringing such beauty and calm to my Sunday morning.

Gillian, my wish would be to be back in Ireland. Even though it rained every day we were there in July, I was the most relaxed I've been in ages. The beautiful green landscapes and some of the friendliest people on earth make Ireland one of my favorite destinations. I would love to have a house there someday but for now, it's only a dream. It's so funny seeing the cats sleep on top of each other. My cats do that too but only when Micky is done tormenting Midge🙀 Lots of love to you and the kitties😘🍀❤

Thanks for the reminder. I will make some time today in the midst of all my weekend chores, to take my new pup on a walk through nature. I too am not ready to let summer go! Though it seems we have a longer summer than you, I am still hoping for a wonderful Indian summer as well. I love it when summer extends well into autumn, giving me more time to allot for peace and reflection in nature. Its far too easy to get lost in the stress and pressure of daily work, the reminder to take some time and enjoy the most wonderful parts of what is around us, to relish summer, is a very welcome and necessary reminder. I did in fact take my young, new dog on an outing yesterday. We drove to a nearby swamp lands park and walked the trails. It was a good walk, made more entertaining when Dundee (60 lbs, 10 months old and rescued from the pound recently) freaked out and protected me from an ominous, looming sign at the side of the trail... If I had ignored your encouragement to walk in nature, I would have missed out on a good laugh and a special, learning time with my new companion. Thanks. @@LostForest

I have a plant called Nepeta -'catmint' and its a fragrant herby plant that they absolutely love! Whenever I prune it, I leave the cuttings on the grass for them to roll around on and there's plenty of happy purrs!🤩😼

I can so relate to the snoozefest of the cats and that Chubbers is taking his turn to sit on everyone.
I know a few cats, who seem to play a lot. To the point they have trouble noticing one of the bystanders sneaking to the water bowls and spilling it all for himself, while pretending that I'm the one at fault. And another one who should be playing, generally hissing at everyone, while ignoring anything I tell him. He just pretends to hear, whatever he wants to hear. A third cat seems to ignore the play, she is invited in altogether and hiss and scratch at me. I'm not really sure, if it was her, I just noticed a lot of threats towards me last time I wanted to go for a walk. Not sure if the fourth cat even sees me, he is relatively new and almost magical. He usually notices things very quickly, so I wonder if he even sees me now, because his actions have shifted after the trouble-making bystander started to splash water everywhere and I feel like I get blamed yet again for something I never even did. I don't even know what I'm blamed for, since the cats wont tell me. I probably wouldn't realize what they mean anyway, to be fair.
I didn't yet get to see what the others do, because the entire thing is distracting me. Not sure if this is a snoozefest, but it sure isn't helping me one bit either...
I'm worried that the kitties will blame me for going thirsty, when I didn't have a chance to stop the little trouble-maker. He seems to get ignored, because he didn't join the game officially. The playful cats did blame me on a similar occasion before and for some reason my own actions seem to be less believeable to them then what one of them pretends to be my fault...
I'm pretty sure by now, that the game is supposed to determine, who wins me as their staff... Which I find pretty unfair, since I never treated them badly, as far as I can tell. It's like they convinced each other, that I treat all cats badly, found the "solution" by putting me on the staff of one cat, who is then supposed to ensure, I don't treat anyone else badly (which I never did before anyway) and are now fighting over who wins me as his/her staff. Funnily, the one who seemed to start all this (and the "solution") had been found out. But instead of checking if I ever did anything I was accused of, they went right back to their "solution", without even trying to find out if this was fair or not. They seem to believe any lies, that let's them feel that the "solution" is fair and necessary. Even to the point of refusing to let me prove my innocence. I tried to offer anything I could think of to prove my innocence during the first blame-shifting. Nothing was ever good enough or was even tried. Right now, they don't even seem to hear me. Let alone allow me to prove my innocence. It's very frustrating. It's like I'm an object to them, whose opinion simply doesn't count. Whose rights doesn't exist.
I do wonder if or how much of those things, they blamed and/or blame me for, was in fact something I actually did and not just something, I was blamed for. I would happily give some serious money for that answer. Did I actually ever do anything to them other than give them food and water? I don't expect cats to act like dogs and be happy whenever I visit them. But I do wonder if anything, that makes them angry, is in fact my fault at all. Or if they just scapegoat me for being conveniently unable to speak their language and therefore the trouble-makers expect to get away with it, since I wouldn't know how to get across that I did not do that. Or even what they are blaming me for!
I do like the cats, but the trouble-makers are making a reasonable relationship very difficult. To the point I start to get wary about each cat. For the simple reason, that they seem to disregard what I did do, in favor for what others pretend I did. They seem to switch opinions very quickly.
I hope the cats will notice things and play more nicely with each other. And stop being mad at everything someone claims, I caused.

@@madeleineg2049 I'm so sorry to hear that. I wouldn't take their actions personally at all. Cats' behaviour is not like our own, and they don't hold grudges or judgements like people do. If there's a lot of males together, this can cause them to lash out in a manner to gain the top 'pecking order' amongst their own group. The kitty knocking over the dish is likely proving a point to them, not you. It appears he wants to annoy the others as he is lower down on the cat hierarchy. If they are not neutered, I would highly recommend doing so, as this will dramatically change their bad behaviours and settle their hormones down.
Just leave extra water bowls around the house or garden, so they can have fresh water when they need it, and also try to make some time in your day to play with them, as cats usually act badly to signal to you that they would like your attention. Hope that helps!❤
@@LostForest Thank you for the advice. ❤ I don't take it personally, but I worry. I tried leaving lots of water bowls out, but the little trouble-maker (who I think is already neutered) seems to basicly trying to bath in the water, he is spilling. So aims for any bowls as soon as I set it down... I asked a nice neighbor to also put some water outside, so hopefully the worst can be avoided. And the bad behaviour seems to stem mainly from 2 females in this case. Most females are perfectly nice, but the male ones seem to get distracted by the females into bad behaviour. I want to play with the cats, but right now everything I do, is answered by the females and they seem to be sure I hiss at everyone. I just want to be friends with the cats... I just don't know if they will ever let me...
Sorry, I didn't mean to whine at you. I'm just not sure, if you believe me, that not all of it is part of the game. And instead believe all is part of the game and that I simply don't know cat behaviour well enough to see that. I did play with the cats before. In a very nice way, too. But there also was a time when everything went off the rails during summer. And I see the signs of exactly this behaviour...

@@madeleineg2049 yes I understand how frustrating it can be. In my experience, female cats are not as friendly, and generally don’t integrate well into male groups. They mostly stay together or alone. I have two females and they go off and do their own thing, and one in particular will snap at the boys, while the males stay with me in a group. It may be, in the case with your cats, that the some of them have a feral gene, and unfortunately their bad and unfriendly behaviour is ingrained in them and often not changeable. Perhaps as they get older they will mellow a bit but may never be truly friendly or sociable cats. For the bowl, maybe try a cat drinking fountain, and this may stop him sitting in the bowl. I wish you the best with them 💕

I had a little house & acre of garden in PA with so many plants like yours, but age took it's toll & I moved back to a suburban home with a small garden. Not much in the way of gardening going on now I'm 83, but your garden is so gorgous it is a joy to watch all this beauty happening. Such a green & lush area too, that is Ireland's heritage of course, and that is how I believe we were all meant to live in tune with the natural world. So so beautiful - in Ontario Canada we had a very different summer too - June and beginning of July very warm the rest very wet with cooler days and a few hot ones in between - typical weather of British Columbia really but they have had a horrible sumxmer with forest fires - I,don't think Mother Earth is very happy with us with what we have done to the Earth. Gillian, my wish would be to be back in Ireland. Even though it rained every day we were there in July, I was the most relaxed I've been in ages. The beautiful green landscapes and some of the friendliest people on earth make Ireland one of my favorite destinations. I would love to have a house there someday but for now, it's only a dream. Thanks for the reminder. I will make some time today in the midst of all my weekend chores, to take my new pup on a walk through nature. I too am not ready to let summer go! Though it seems we have a longer summer than you, I am still hoping for a wonderful Indian summer as well. I love it when summer extends well into autumn, giving me more time to allot for peace and reflection in nature. Its far too easy to get lost in the stress and pressure of daily work, the reminder to take some time and enjoy the most wonderful parts of what is around us, to relish summer, is a very welcome and necessary reminder. I did in fact take my young, new dog on an outing yesterday. We drove to a nearby swamp lands park and walked the trails. It was a good walk, made more entertaining when Dundee (60 lbs, 10 months old and rescued from the pound recently) freaked out and protected me from an ominous, looming sign at the side of the trail... If I had ignored your encouragement to walk in nature, I would have missed out on a good laugh and a special, learning time with my new companion. Thanks. @@LostForest

Bonjour Gillian , après une quantième lecture, je pense que vous avez édité l'une de vos meilleures vidéos, en ce sens que plusieurs " angles" sont pris en considération, et vous restituez l'ambiance d'une simple promenade dominicale avec votre mari, en un début de quête " spirituelle" ( les ruines, avec les tombes envahies par les herbes hautes, le lac et la prise de vue et votre commentaire sur une présence, me font frissonner lorsque cela 'arrive cela veut présence effective ! Puis le chemin forestier et votre chaleureuse attention pour les citadins. Il n'y a pas a redire vous êtes en Majesté, et lé casse-croûte qui me fait saliver a CHAQUE fois!😊

Very nice photography once again. Your landscapes are beautiful, a painter's dream. Thank you for sharing the beauty that surrounds you with others like me who live very farm away in the USA. New plantings are nice, love hydrangea. Have you any catnip herb in your garden for the kitties? Mine love it bundled up in a cloth sachet.
I have a plant called Nepeta -'catmint' and its a fragrant herby plant that they absolutely love! Whenever I prune it, I leave the cuttings on the grass for them to roll around on and there's plenty of happy purrs!🤩😼
