BB and Luther loved Gary Moore because they knew that they could never play like him thats what made him special.And he also played outside the"blues box"like Still Got The Blues for example and he didnt copy anyone.Sure Peter Green was a big influence and many others but he didnt sound like them he was an original.RIP

Makes me sad to watch this, knowing that they are now all gone!.............I had the pleasure of seeing Luther Allison play in his prime. Unbelievable player! Gone way too early! God Bless them all, as they now are undoubtedly playing one helluva jamb in Heaven with SRV, Johnny Winter, and so many other great players that are no longer present here on earth. Great Stuff!

This was the time the music business started to recognize Luther Allison, too late. Can't tell how many shows I saw throught 1990s, all small venues. And he always walked through the crowd towards the end of the set. Sadly I missed out on seeing BB live.

cicliste c "B.B. is hiding behind a fat tone ????" You obviously don't know the man. (1) In company on stage he always sits in back and lets the guest (s) shine - it is part of his grace. On the studio album Riding With The King, he let Clapton pretty much direct everything including the song choice - it was BB's album but he wanted the experience of EC to come through and make it different from all the others. (2) He has always been economical with his notes but has heaps of SOUL and feeling in his playing - this is the charm of the man and why he is King of the Blues (3) he is self taught, and not technically proficient by his own admission - he cannot play chords for example - so??? (4) his early career was as a blues singer (not a guitarist) and he out did the competition including making the great Bobby Bland look average when on stage together (5) on this video he is 71 years old (6) he is the only living bluesman to have actually picked cotton in the fields (7) he made his first guitar from a broom, 2 nails and a piece of fence wire (8) what the blue fuck have you done for the world lately??????
Well said and needed to be said. Thanks for doing so. I've been lucky enough to see B.B. King live many times. He came to Toronto alot. He would at times play at The Forum, an open venue. It would be a beautiful summer night, with the stars filled sky and B.B. King performing. It didn't get any better. Love the man and his music. He is missed!

I urge all electric blues fans to check out Luther Allison's "Live in Chicago" album (released 1999), it is one of the best blues albums ever IMO, and if you haven't heard him sing, go straight to Cherry Red Wine, it's friggin' incredible :-)

BB seems to appreciate Luther's Guitar playing & I love them both. I opened for Luther in 1983, in Nancy/France and later on for BB in 1992 in Vittel/France. The last time I saw BB on stage was in 2004 in Oxford Missippi after he received a diploma from "Ole Miss Edu", great to see him play in front of his southern people (old women dancing, screaming and singing). I tried to get tickets when B.B came to Vancouver Island (an incredibly rare occurrence), shortly before he died but the damn scalper bots scooped up the tickets and I was priced out and now he's gone. Glad that I got to see Buddy Guy though.
