You are making amazing progress in this area and it is going to be so cozy and warm. I have never seen this before and am really enjoying the progress. What a lovely gite you are staying in. Yup....wow is right!!
What an EPIC transformation!! A huge investment of time, effort and finance, but an amazing transformation of those rooms into a truly workable space for 21st century living in an old chateau. Bravo!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you. Super kind. As you say, the underfloor heating is definitely more expensive to install but we’re hoping it’ll be more comfortable and effective than other types of heating in due course 👀🤞🏼 plus we wanted a travertine floor finish so this seemed like a good option ☺️ thanks again 🙏🏼
I'd say it was a TOTALLY sensible investment given that this is going to be your residential area. The insulation of the foam together with the underfloor heating will be something you appreciate for years to come!!
To what degree are the locals aware of what you are doing at the chateau? Are the villagers interested or indifferent? Do they know you as the "chateau people"? Do you get, "Well, how is it going?" (in French, of course) when they see you at the market or the local bistro?
Not so much, I don’t think. We know everyone in our little village. They’re all lovely and super supportive of the project, including our local mayor. Beyond our village we have bumped into a few people who seem to know what we are up to and have been curious about progress (including the owner of an afternoon tea shop in a nearby village), but it’s not that widely known as far as we can tell. We have had a couple of people randomly turn up who had travelled from afar to come and see the chateau, but that’s about it.
