It seems like the Scotiabank Visa Infinite Passport is similar to the Scotiabank Gold American Express. Both have zero foreign transaction fees; however the Visa has free lounge passes. One looks like a clear winner to me.
I don't get why the scotiabank gold card has higher point earning potential than the platinum card. Would it be obvious that the gold card is superior even though the platinum card is higher tier and has a higher annual fee?? The platinum card only earns 2x the points on everything, but the gold card could earn 6x the points on groceries
Great video. It is unfortunate that all these credit cards are AMEX cards. They are literally useless in Toronto. Even stores that do not take cash turn me down with my Amex (Aeroplan infinite privilege).
They are not literally useless in Toronto. I've been using Amex without major issues in Ontario for 8 years. I would say 95% of major stores/restaurants accept them. If you go to the corner store then yea... They probably won't even accept credit cards period.
@@djmackj They are to me as I get turned down from stores/restaurants near my place: Super Store/Loblaws, No Frills, Value Mart, A&W, and the best part is I went to a place that took only credit cards and they turn down AMEX. Oh wow, Carmen Sognovi is going to be there too?! Awesome. Huge thanks again! Just flew to Paris and back; was supposed to be Cathay Pacific business class, but hey, it didn't work out. But had AC business class booked as a back-up ;) Then stayed 5 nights at the Prince de Galles (killer breakfast by the way, and upgrade to the top floor and an insane terrace), and then Turkish home via Istanbul... Definitely enjoyed all the lounging!!! Thanks Ricky. And now just starting booking Japan, Singapore and Bali for next summer as a family of 4. Now... that definitely takes a bit more work.
Without Sobeys doing everyday shopping i.e. gas through shell and tiny other things I just hit Airmiles Onyx (5000 in one year) I make 30k a year in Nova Scotia with the highest taxes. Toronto level rents and more..... also for every 25$ I spend at sobeys I still get 9 Airmiles through my bmo card and on top of that FOUND a loophole that lets me spend my Airmiles for free groceries at Sobeys still and they cant stop it. Y'all need to figure out how to rack up 400-600 a month from normal shopping!!!!!! @Prince Of Travel
also saw several shows test airmiles program and basically make it VERY VERY difficult to impossible to redeem their airmiles for anything bigger or useful.
Just got the Amex aeroplane reserve. Is it okay to apply for another card to get more aeroplane welcome points from other banks such as the TD aeroplane? Can the points somehow be combined to one account?
@@philchen5540 yup I didn’t read the fine print. I got the platinum card and received no welcome bonus. Gonna be a big hit for me considering the high annual fee :(
And remember! At cineplex you get 5 points per dollar for scanning your scene+ card and then the entertainment multiplier for your credit card meaning up to 10x the points. It's CRAZY
@@LilaAlejandra_ for sure! So at Cineplex locations when you are just a scene card member (you don't have any Scotiabank products or you don't use them at checkout) and you can your scene card at the check out you will receive 5 scene+ points per dollar on your order. If you use your Scotiabank Amex gold credit card you get 5 points per dollar on entertainment purchases Including movie theatres. When you scan your scene+ card and use your Scotiabank Amex gold at checkout at a Cineplex you then get the 10 points per dollar. Which is insane! That will net you a lot of points especially if you are a regular movie goer 😉 Remember though, credit card points are good for rewarding your NORMAL spending. Don't find yourself in the trap of purchasing beyond your means for perceived value in points 😉
I got the Scotia Scene Plus Gold Amex and have had nothing but trouble with it. Scene hasn't been able to link my scene account to the account, resulting in accumulating no points. I have been struggling with them and scotiabanks customer service since I got the card two months ago. I personally don't reccomend this card, unless your scene account is merged to your Scotia bank account already, then you should be fine. But as a brand new customer to Scotiabank, due to the enticing promotion, I feel I got screwed.
The two-step verification process is unnecessary and in fact seriously problematic. If BMO has taken up the Air Miles mantel, I can see many current Scene partners going right back.
Unfortunately, Scene + offers nothing for me. I'm a senior on disability. I have air-miles. I shop at Safeway and through my food purchases, I earned enough air-miles to get a 50" 4K TV. The cashier at Safeway told me they are changing to Scene +. No online catalog to see what they offer. Email Scene + and they did reply immediately. Unfortunately, the Scene + does not offer anything that would be of value to me. I haven't flown for 40 years and I will never fly again, I don't eat out at fancy restaurants, I don't buy clothes (socks and underwear, yes, but my clothes are used/donated), I haven't been to a movie theatre in 14 years because too expensive and it will be on TV in 6 months free anyway, everything they offer is of no use to me. Get some TV's, appliances, gift cards, music, blu-ray's, Xbox/PS/Nintendo games/live gold etc. I will be interested if you offer those type rewards.
You're on the wrong page then man, this is a travel via credit cards channel. Also scene points can be used towards grocery purchases so at least you can save money there
