The end of this episode absolutely broke me, what an amazing show with the perfect theme. I hope NHK is discovered again and again by younger generations because of the effect it had on me as a young person watching it in my early 20s. Its never to late to try and be the person you want to be, have a good day everyone!
no it is not underrated. every time you see someone mention this show they say how much they like it. its more like its slowly being forgotten and new people dont watch it
Big W for posting this anime. I love how he continues to struggle day to day and is uncertain about the future, but in the end it's best to keep pushing on through with the hope that things will get better eventually.
Why is it the best to keep pushing through. He never got a better life and everyone abandoned him other than the girl which openly said her care takers are forcing her to be around him.
@@TheAIKnowledgeHub There's a couple things I'll point out in regard to the ending. Sato finally gets a job and comes to finally understanding that he needs to work in order to eat. He also still has Yamaguchi as his friend despite living far away (it's also important to note that he finds a true love finally and proudly takes the family business). Sato still has his mother and Misaki who have a genuine love for him. It's also established that they'll work on getting back on track together as Misaki decides to finish high school and Sato enrolls back into college.
@@TheAIKnowledgeHub Because he can't die now. It's all the evil NHK's fault! If he dies he'll fall into their evil plan! Honestly, this is the power of believing something. Logically there are no conspiracies, god, or good to be found in this world, but why not belive in them if it saves us from the cruel reality of living? The NHK isn't real but by beliving it Sato can live.
Powerful scene where, after talking about how he wants it all to end and how worthless he thinks he is, the first thing he did when his life was put in danger was immediately grab the cliff.
If you study things what you will find is there is always a reflect to try to save one self. Like this is a major thing that caused many attempts to fail or cause more pain than it should. The best example I can give is CO2. Your body 100% will fight to stay alive even if you fight that urge. So to fix this, people have used intert gasses since the body doesn't react to it. Or in this case, someone falling will instantly grab something even if they wanted to die. Now with all that being said, he did agree to go home. So he did pick to live. Like after the grab and time to process. He could've let go assuming the social pressure stopped him from letting go.
There’s nothing powerful about it. You are an animal with a fundamental instinct to survive, so it’s not surprise when he took the last step he reached out to stop it, anyone would but before they did they’d hope they wouldn’t
This part really hits as a low point in the characters lives and you think it can't get any worse. Then this show hits you just as hard at the end. It's a lot to deal with and the anime may come to you in your time of need, but it's a must watch for any anime fan going through a tough time.
Perhaps not during a tough time as there are many "trigger" topics that are not solved in the span of a single chapter and could actually give ideas to an already mentally unstable person.
So happy that NHK is till being talked about. It really is an underrated gem that is only becoming more relatable as time goes on. The English version of this scream is also fantastic.
I remember watching this. I was around his age when I watched this. I was also a hikikomori, but wasn't in a suicidal mindset like him. Man I used to watch a lot of anime that dealt with conspiracies and existentialism back then. I used to watch a lot of depressing stuff too, but I didn't know it would be depressing until I watched it.
the first time i watched this anime i was about 12, i remember really enjoying it, recently, now 12 years later i started watching it again, and it really hits differently now. when i was 12, i found it more engaging than i did relatable. obviously wasn't super relatable to me at the time because i was 12, but it inspired me to want to start writing for a game. i watched it again for a second time a year after i graduated high school back in 2018 when i got my first job. now im watching it a third time 12 years later. im 24 now, and im barely holding on to employment, little to no money, never went to college, never wrote my story or game and my social life is is in a weird position since quarantine has ended, and its almost painfully relatable. definitely still one of my all-time favorite anime.
I'll share your pain too my friend, I myself have an immense void within me that I'll never ever seem to fill no matter how much time goes on.. but what's important is that we are here and that we continue to try no matter how pointless it all seems.
Idk, maybe it's wishful thinking on my behalf, but I think what she feelt was much more genuine, but she couldn't really comrehand it and articulate it. In other words, she's a tsundere to some extent. Idk how else should I put it.
I love this show so much, even though I can't relate to him completely; I think that's the point. I wouldn't wanna go down this route. Although I can understand what he's going through to an extent.
Truly an underrated masterpiece I just finished binge watching it today and I have to say that I enjoyed it very much highly recommend . The main character Satou reminds me a bit of Natsuki Subaru from Re:Zero not completely but just some aspects. I was really sad to see Yamazaki go though he and Satou had the best bromance in the show. The ending itself was perfect down to the last detail especially the part where Satou confronts Misaki in the snow I remember praying really hard in that moment hoping Satou would save her I am glad they got a happy ending.
As a HikiNEET and failure of a human this scene is very relatable. I was hoping he'd an hero. Would've been more realistic. I can't wait to finally die.
It's high time for a remake that's more faithful to the light novels this is based on. While this adaptation is great, it tries to avoid the topic of Sato's drug addiction.
For anyone that seen the show, noticed how miserable his life was afterwards. How the only thing that kept him from dying later on in the show is so the girl doesn't jump. But at the end he was completely miserable and without a family or any friends. Like what friends he did have doesn't really interact with him towards the end. And for some reason we should be happy about this?
No hold up I'm with Craig on this one if the whole point is that staying alive gives you the chance to have meaningful life then let's just say the message the shows pushing for is battling against suicide but then by how Craig explained how his life went all the way up to the end of the show, battling against suicide is being represented as a losing battle????????
@@mrree3433 I haven't seen the show so I don't know what the message is if there is one (maybe I shouldn't have responded lol). But from my own experience, if you keep fighting with a good heart you'll find your way. I won't speculate on what happens in the show because idk
Both women in this anime are so terrible no matter how pure Misaki looks in this scene. Not even that guy deserves a narcissist boderliner teen or a drug addicted emo as a girlfriend.

I actually watched this last year when I was 19. It was a really good series, one I absolutely love and would recommend
My life was just like Satos. And in 2019 I decided to do something to change my life situation. And now 5 years later I’m engaged
very underrated anime, but i've found that the more someone enjoys their life vs how much they enjoy welcome to the nhk is inversely proportional.
its not underrated but it could be talked more about

Please don’t. If you want to experience things becoming better, keep living.
We’re not important enough to get validation for our suffering. That’s the reality. You either buy in or cash out. I understand you completely.
Okabe Rintarou would argue with this title
As a 22 year old in the same position as Sarou I understand
Damn, this brings me back!!!!
It's high time for a remake that's more faithful to the light novels this is based on. While this adaptation is great, it tries to avoid the topic of Sato's drug addiction.
thought the anime was perfect without it imo
I think you mean novel not light novel
god i love this anime
It's a pretty powerful scream, really striking, i can't deny it. But it's clearly not the rawest one in anime history.
It is purely based on the emotional turmoil and sheer confused and angry sadness
