This is a very affordable upgrade I did on my 1985 Chevy Camaro Iroc Visit my channel here www.youtube.co... Facebook here / auto-dad-100338905973476 Instagram here / autodad1
Just fyi that’s not a child seat latch it’s used for the t-top bag that you seem to be missing. There is a leather type bag that you put the t-tops in and it hooks to those post, it holds the tops nice.
Nice install. I took a different approach with my 88 IROC. I modified an S10 overhead console about 12 hears ago to mount the faceplate of a Pioneer DEH-7600MP. The amp, cap, HD radio module, and the Pioneer unit are installed in the spare tire well. A mini-ITX motherboard was installed in the rear glovebox area. The console where the radio and HVAC controls were now have an 8" touchscreen monitor. (Actually, I am in the process of printing a new faceplate bezel to replace the original touchscreen with a sunlight readable one. Also, I am replacing the mini-ITX with a LattePanda Alpha, which is mounted behind the touchscreen.) I do not have nor want a subwoofer. The four speakers are all Infinities.
2-15” subs with a horn on a plate fitted over the rear hatchback storage area… with a 500-800 watt amp bolted to the bottom of the storage area with an alpine head unit and an alpine 7-band eq. That’s how we did it 30 years ago.
Thanks for a good and educative video! We got one week ago a 85' Z28 and wondering about audio improvement. Well, both 6x9 speakers were absent completely and only left side had cables... Starting from a scratch... :) I got a set of brand new JBL speakers. Just waiting to have time to install those. Greetings from Finland!
Quick question. I have an 84 trans am, i have the stock head unit, and i prefer the look of stock vs aftermarket head units. Is there any pros and cons to keeping the stock head unit if i plan on upgrading the four speakers, adding subs and amps for all speakers? Thanks!
I’m installing a cd player in an 83. Was just curious where the small white 2 pin connector plugs in. My wiring kit came with it as well but I can’t locate a connector behind the dash that accepts it.
Thanks for the reply. There’s an orange and yellow wire coming from the car but the connector is different abd the two won’t connect. Assuming I just need to splice them then.

That sounds interesting. Is the mini-PC just for playing media? Or do you use it for more tasks? Any videos or writeups?

Nice install. Whats your plan for an engine?
I have a race engine in it now with a Holley Sniper EFI kit
@@AutoDad that awesome! Stroker?
No, 358 flat top pistons, vortec heads, huge cam.

All gotta say is they make a box specifically for the Camaro

You'd have to install low level adapters for an Amp. You can also find new head units that are retro looking
where did you buy the mounts for the aftermarket radio?
I ordered them from O'Reilly

It was there for me. Maybe you don't need it
