Glad nothing serious happened. When I had my model rail in our old house where I had space for them, I had a bucket of sand handy in case a fire broke out on the layout.
@@FogofWar It is cheap, it comes handy in emergencies, it doesn't make a huge mess for a small fire like a proper fire extinguisher would do, and also can be used for basing if needed.
Glad nothing serious happened :) I really dont trust lithium batteries and always store mine in a metal ammo box. But it did create a cool fire and smoke effect to the video :)
Its dangerous work filming B-roll, it can certainly have explosive results! Glad your all safe, and had a remarkably calm reaction! I've a few very similar lights myself so i'll be keeping an eye on them, i have noticed on occasion they can get rather hot, though ive never used them while plugged in/charging. I suspect the cheap electronics don't have thermal cut-offs and the dual use while charging proved too much for it?
Shooting B-roll certainly proved more dangerous than I was anticipating! The Ulanzi lights specifically say they can be used while charging. But my experience says something different! I have retired my other one as well. Just waiting for replacement non-battery lights to arrive.
Hi 4W4A. Good point, but there was no bulging prior to ignition, unfortunately. It just went *bang*! :-) I've seen spicy batteries before, but this one gave no prior indication.
I'm glad you're okay!
Thanks. Me too!
Thats scary, and justified occasion for swearing, thanks you are ok, take caution as Litium gets worst with water.
It was pretty scary.
Glad to hear you are safe and well and serious damage was avoided by quick thinking!
Thanks. It could have been *much* worse.
Jeez mate that's a nasty one.
Yep. That was a big boom.
Glad nothing serious happened.

My wife is suggesting that…

There could be a good argument for buying a Sherman and using its headlamps as B-roll lights :D
I've been looking for something for smoke effects mysel!
I'll send you one over, Frank. That should suit nicely!
I'm glad no one was hurt. That could have been a lot worse.
It could indeed have been a whole lot worse...
Battery fires are not fun times.
First actual lithium ion fire, so Yay for new experiences, I guess…
Wow. That’s crazy😮 glad your safe. That could have been so much worse.
Yes. If having a light blow up can be called lucky - this was lucky. No big fire or damage. Just glad it did it while I was there.
Glad you are ok, that's scary
I was a bit startled, I’ll admit.
Glad nothing serious happened :)

I'm glad the smoke and fire effects didn't get more... intense. :-)
Looks like a faulty membrane in the battery. Some cellphones had the same issue a few years ago where they detonated in peoples ears.
Battery deflagration is always fun…
Hope you are safe, I think that mind is more than Light a new stand.
Thanks. Yeah. It is new light time.

Who did it? Speznaz? VC?
The light is Chinese, but I draw no conclusions from that… ;-)
was there any bulging in the case prior as this is a good indicator of a btry fault, just glad your ok mate

i have the same unit that caught on fire during shoot. tender to usb charger in the same manner
Yeah. I junked all mine. Too bad. Up until the explosion I loved them!
