Crop Dusting Compilation

- The aircraft in this video are Ayers Turbo Thrushes, except for the AgCat seen briefly at the beginning.
The clips were shot throughout several different days, so that is why the planes switch between booms and spreaders. I just didn't have enough time to film them landing enough while they were spraying.
The video of the 2003 Japanese Aerobatic Championships influenced how I wanted to make this video. The Crop Dusting in Australia also was great and made me want to make my own video. The music for this comes from the video "Switzerland in a figher plane," which has much more epic scenery that fits the music, but it was just too good not to use for this! I am aware of how bad it is spliced together, but the song wasn't long enough for the video I had.
A lot of time and work went into this video, I hope you enjoy it!!!
We're getting more in-cockpit footage of some with other views and stuff unique to crop dusters (i.e. flying under wires in fields) for another video, but it'll be hard to top this one I believe. - บันเทิง
This is one of the great videos of the 20th century
Hi! Thats the lightbar. It's connected to a GPS unit. It helps guide the pilot to make sure he doesn't spray the same spot twice or skip a spot of the field.
Piloto agrícola é uma profissão arriscada.
The song I believe is called Ameno by Era. If you search for the video "Switzerland in a figher plane" its the music from that video which is where I first heard it.
i just saw one of these yesterday going right over the of my house about 10ft above my roof they were spraying for grasshoppers. very cool.
Nice video, these men need to be more respected than they are, this is a very dangerous profession, but we need them, I live in TX. talk about bugs, etc., the saving grace is to hear them buzz my apartment, Michele.
very good video shows how low they get and how much faster the turbines are. cool
Great. Those vapour trails from the prop tips early in the mornin' is just awesome. Specially when your standing behind the plane on take-off. And please do a clip without the music also. Agplanes are the best.
Best. Job. Ever.
Nicely done! This really makes me want to cropdust!
Great.
Music very enjoyable.
Thanks for sharing.
Good job, great footage! Tastefully done.
i should expect this from you.
great job!
Exept for the music the video is amazing.
Found it, thanks very much mate. Once again thought about it all day while trying to teach kids how to do steep turns :(.
GREAT video.
THANKS for sharing.
2:30 Damn!!!
That's was pretty close
Amazing video!
I don't know if they make dumptrucks big enough to carry their balls around in. Boneified badass.
hello love the flying and the music thanks
those are some humongous freaking fieldss
Very nice, keep sharing!!.
kewl video keep it up put more on!! 10/10
awesome!
Yes, the footage was filmed over several days, and they land alot more when they've got spreaders on. Usually when the spreader is on it is for fertilizing, but about this time of year they also do some seeding. Glad you enjoyed the vid!
You do a great job of videography and editing. You are making environmentally responsible applications. This is a pollinator safe application because the crops are not in bloom.
Yes, they do use reverse thrust.
I think the band is called Era and the song Ameno, but I'm not 100% sure.
You spray out in Yuma? Man i swore i saw you guys out there during my first solo night cross country getting my private couple months back! I fly out of Williams field in Mesa with UND getting my ratings out of the way. Sure love watching you dusters on my days off work though, truly amazing flying and i have much respect for you guys....maybe one day....
this is my dream to be an ag pilot :)
Thanks! I've got some more good footage for a new one I'm going to put together sometime.
Ez nagyon Király,very good video,tnx. :-))
Aloha Buddie,,,
I sure enjoyed your work, great music, just
right... I see that you had a "spreader" on
the airplane for the takeoff and landings,
but most of the air work was spraying... Do
you do a lot with the speader, Rice, Seeding,
Dusting, or Fertilizer??? Brings back good
times, sure enjoyed it all... Music was just
right... Mahalo to you Buddie...
Nice Video
Thanks! I just wanted to do something different for the music, and I thought it worked in a weird way. Just the engines are great, but I figured most non-ag pilot types would quickly get bored without music, methinks. I can cut you a version w/o music sometime if you really want it tho.
I thought you were kidding, but then I saw the video xD.
Would you consider crop dusting flying the most dangerous of all aviation occupations?
Very cool just wish I could do that !!!
Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed!
Yeah, that part was "choreographed" for the video. In practice 2 planes won't spray in a T pattern for obvious safety reasons....
I really like the forward view on the Thrush,if you could make a clip like this as long as possible and of course without the music.Thanks.
@westtexasduster
Thanks! The Cats work at a different service at the airport, but its nice to get some diversity! Wish I had more film of them too, gottta love that radial sound.
About that tip, that's a great idea! Wish I'd have had it 3 years ago when I made the video, that would've worked a lot better. If I ever get the chance to make another one and run into that problem, I'll do that for sure, thanks for the advice! Where do you fly out in West Texas?
A valid question!
However, in this instance it was just a mild herbicide and I was geared out to be sprayed.
But yes, don't try this at home.
from my other vid - There are lots of variables, very important ones being field size and shape. Others could include location, gallons per acre, swath, etc. Around here, the fields are relatively small compared to other parts of the country . Depending on those variables, around 500 per hour acres is good.
@tjodalv44, I was curious as to where this was filmed? My dad sprayed in San Angelo, Texas for 5 years from 2004-2009. Before that, he was mostly in Arkansas and the MS delta. We lost him two years ago, and I'm hoping some day to stumble upon some video of him flying. He sprayed for 38 years before the doc made him stop.
Thanks for this video!
The band IS called ERA and the song in Ameno, thats right.
Great love this! Makes me wanna move from instructing to a croppie! Can I ask what the song is?
Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it! The industry crowd wants no music, but laymen want music so I try to put out a little of both. What kind of stuff did you haul in the Super Cub?
Great video. Awesome flying!
Upon touchdown do you reverse pitch to slow?
Thats right, the airport is ELA.
WOW. im guessing thats the FUN part of farming??!!??
Great video!but what is with the music?Just once,i'd like to hear the sound of the engines, and only the engines.
We hired a guy from Idaho to do some of our beans and as he passed over the acreage to turn he clipped one of our oak trees...luckily he only cut off a few small branches. What does it take to get a license to dust crops, or does it vary by state?
Music is great!
Do you know title?
@skilletthandle
When the wheels hit the ground you know you're too low! Its done mostly by a feel that comes from experience. Definitely not the altimeter!
How do you know how high you are above the ground while spraying?
what's that flashing light doing on the engine hood?
1:38 !!! Wow
whats the thing on the bonnet of the plane that flashes at 1 35
How many acres do you usually do in an hour?
Any concerns about standing in a cloud of pesticide?
cual es el nombre de la musica? which the music's name is?
What is the music playing and who is the artist.
how do i get in to a job like this.
How much does it cost to get a commercial pilot license?
What's the name of this song
2.30!! Traffic 12 oclock!
@skilletthandle Yea basically you can kinda judge where your at somewhat but try to stay as low as possible for a better spray pattern.
man thats some low flying..at wat speed are you? 60 kts?
@1stLtDavis you need a commercial pilots licence, and i think thats it.
Pickman : And a Certificate of Competancy" if you want to be insurable.
About 130 knots
@Joku982 alot
first you need to get a private pilot liscense... then you'll need your commercial rating so you can get paid to fly........ oh yeah, did i forget to mention you gotta be half insane?? hahaha
@sanfranciscobay
Its definately dangerous. As far as most dangerous, that is debateable. The low, fast, obstacle-ridden flying is dangerous, but you're not getting shot at like you might be as a military aviator. Perhaps the most dangerous job is being one of those crop dusters that sprays drugs in south america. There you have all then dagerous of crop dusting AND you're being shot at.
@tjodalv44 @sanfranciscobay Well I think I have the most dangerous occupation. I have an intern whom crop dusts my coworker and I ALL DAY LONG!
@PlasticC4 cowling
hahaha
What the hell with the music
