@@jeffhermance4886 bruh. Of course all people share experiences of pain, nobody’s arguing that. But its very clear this song is about the struggles of being black in america. It’s also about more than that of course, but this is a song that expresses black folk experiences explicitly.
Crazy how a black man can make a song about being black in america and people will still try to find a way to erase black people from the picture

Kathryn, you were jammin until you were hit by and felt the emotionally profound punch of his lyrics. What you heard was a snippet of black and poor people's lives, struggling to survive in this society. It was all beautifully wrapped up in Bruce Hornsby's music, now isn't that ironic. It sucks the air out of the room and leaves you almost speechless. 2Pac is legendary.

Tupac had many songs where he was more than a rapper. He gave you the truth of the streets with no filter through the eyes of a man who was raised by a mother who was a Black Panther along with being partially raised by the streets. That dichotomy gave him a heart and a mind for his people and for trying to piece that love of self and people while understanding what happens in the hood. IMHO, he rose above it and left the blueprints in his music.

So, you should def do more Tupac songs. As you get into Tupac, there is a few songs that should absolutely be the first ones:
    Keep Ya Head up
    I Aint Mad at Cha
    Dear Mama
    Brenda's Got a Baby
Those above are some of the most powerful Tupac songs as far as the meaning behind the songs and the message.
Some reactors make the mistake of reacting to "Hit Em Up" first, which is a great diss track, probably the best one ever. However, it really taints the perception you will have of Tupac going forward.
Tupac was a guy with a lot of different aspects to his personality. Really fascinating to hear him speak in interviews and then go listen to some of his more hard tracks and wonder how is this the same person.

I feel like that is why he is gone! Sounds crazy, but he built a big fan base and started spreading a positive message, and now he is gone. Of course everyone will say "It was Orlando Anderson" or "The life he lead" but take a step back and look at the BIGGER picture and you will notice more detail... Ever notice how all the rappers that try to spread a positive message and the TRUTH get killed, silencing them and their message!? Of course it was "ORLANDO ANDERSON" because he is black and that is the only way to fit the narrative! All the other times Pac got shot were just the same, only those were weak ass attempts to end his life and they failed. They all look like stuff that happens in the street to make the PUBLIC believe he lived by the gun and died by the gun, but what they don't want to surface is that it was the POLICE every time! He was always spreading a positive message and change on every album, and so they made him disappear... Only the rappers that speak the truth. They won't kill 6ix9ine because he has information for them, he was actually most likely a government PLANT, and everyone will say I am making shit up and it is a conspiracy theory, but it is the TRUTH! You just can't see it because they have you convinced and blind! They allow the dumb negative rappers to spread dumb negative messages to keep the younger society dumb and negative because they will be the next ones to start teaching the HATE! They will be the ones spreading hate, being dumb and negative! You can already see it now! They killed Pac and a lot of other influential artists and now the kids don't know what to believe and every one is divided! He seen it coming and tried to WARN US ALL! I think 2Pac never really had street beefs! I believe he was always being attacked by the police and it came to a point where he never felt safe especially when the cops are setting you up, the cops are shooting you, the cops are constantly attempting to end your life, who could he call for help? The guys trying to kill him? So then I feel at that point he felt "Who got my back if the police are trying so hard to get me gone? It seems they will do any and everything they have to do to stop the message I am sharing.." Once he seen the cops were "THUGS" he said "Oh okay, so there is no laws and no rules then huh? Well then I guess we will have to let the games begin because I can be a THUG to, THUG LIFE BABY BABBBBBY!"... 🤣
This same exact shit happened to the Antioch Norteno rapper Woodie! He was running around gang banging and the police basically allowed it for YEARS, then they started wiping him and all his homies off the map! They all started catching 25 to life and some died and ultimately Woodie the main guy supposedly "TOOK HIS OWN LIFE" in the middle of nowhere up in Oregon with no one around, yet he was from Cali he was in the gang life but the last album he started talking against the government about the truth and now he is dead and gone! And what do you know just like 2Pac they covered it up and made it look like something it wasn't to cover the truth!
It is not just blacks, they are doing this to US ALL!!! I think in General everyone assumes the government is WHITE, but the government has NO COLOR! They are WEALTHY! They have all of our money! They steal from us daily! First they put the blacks against the blacks with drugs and guns, now they are putting the U.S.A. against Mexicans, the blacks against the whites, raising rent and gas, messing with our jobs, they make it impossible for us to live and easy for us to DIE!
They constantly play with us, they vote in Barack Obama and things seem to be going good...
They messed up our votes! Got Trump voted in then had him removed and arrested now they put Slow Joe to represent us and ever since election day it seems like we have NO VOICE! Where is Joey at? lol
We are so divided because that is how they made it! So confusing that nobody knows the truth there is so many different narratives to confuse us even more! Go dig DEEPER! This is the truth! They want us DEAD! They just want us to do it so no blood is on their hands!

Seeing you on your journey of obvious appreciation of 2pacs music is awesome to watch. I've been a fan since 1991(Yes!) when I was 18 years old , Thanks to my Sister who was 2 years older than me for turning me on to his Music, so after my Sister Aina was killed on Easter Sunday 1993 I really got into everything she liked, her birthday was 3/15/1971. If you know about 2pac, you know what I was about to witness and go through. Truthfully I feel like I saw the creation of a Prophet and not too many people can argue that opinion. john Paul bradley❤

Exploring his music will take you on journey of love, pain and everything in between. Poetic renditions of life seen through the overwhelming commonness’s of living and being black in America. His descriptions hit home in many of the songs he wrote. Brenda’s got a baby, Keep your head up, Dear Mama, Krazy and so manny more. I came up with Pac’s music as a generational peer. Born in the 70’s and became a fan in the 90’s. I believe he did the best he could to put light onto a struggle of his own and his peers alike whom inherited the turmoils passed down through previous generational perceptions of the African American Race. He said that he would be a spark in the brain of the mind that’ll flame the next generational movement for change. I appreciate your honesty and candor towards a phenomenal artist of my race and generation. Thank you for that…you’ve earned my respect and my subscribtion.👍🏾👊🏾

The greatest rapper of all time if you ask me. But it's more than just his rapping alone. It's his lyrics and how powerful they always are, and the music he uses is great too. Many rappers choose really stupid music or beats in their songs. Not 2Pac.

There is a lot to process when listening to Tupac. For a long time I had no idea who Huey was. Later I found that was referring to Huey Newton from the Black Panther Party. I love how raw, sincere, and uncensured your reactions have been. Thank you for this. I would recommend some Tupac songs, but my list would be so long. I wouldn't know where to stop. But trust me, there are some real gems out there.

  • @dmgranger90
    @dmgranger90 ปีที่แล้ว

Every single piece of this song hits harder than most people know and contains more truth than people want to hear. I will be glad to give a little insight of the history of the lyrics.
The line "First, ship in dope and let 'em deal to brothas, give them guns, step back and watch them kill each other." Is a reference to the Iran Contra Affair and the CIA working with Nicaraguan cartel leaders to ship drugs into inner city neighborhoods that were majority black to cause panic on national tv, change political powers by changing social perspective, and completely stifle the progress of black people as a race in America by, not only flooding the inner (usually Democratic) city streets in predominantly black neighborhoods, but simultaneously starting the "War on Drugs", which has led to the mass incarceration of African American populations and minorities in the prison system.
The line "It's time to fight back, that's what Huey said, Two shots in the dark, now Huey's dead." Is a reference to the civil rights leader Huey P Newton who formed the Black Panther Party and later was assassinated. The Black Panther Party, apart from being a civil rights group, was known for arming themselves to protect their neighborhoods from drugs flooding in, crime, and themselves from excessive police force of the predominately white Oakland police. The two shots is a reference to his assassination. They charged a member of the Black Guerilla Family for his death, allegedly so that he could move onto turf BPP protected areas and establish a crack empire. ...But there's always been speculation that the FBI was involved in his death, since they've been found to have been involved in the deaths of other major figures in the Black Panther Party.
That's just the beginning of the song, there's so much more to this one and many more of his other songs. 2Pac was a poet. He brought light to the everyday struggles that minorities faced that were generational ,while also bringing to light the fact that the reason for the generational struggles was because of a decades long effort by the US government to ensure white supremacy within the core of the country and top of the power structure; the government itself.
There's a great sight called Genius that breaks down a bunch of the lyrics and gives history and/or context behind them. They might not catch everything because some his lyrics are so deep, but it really helps show the depth of these lyrics and makes them sink in so much further when you hear them. I hope you check the sight out if you find some of his lyrics that really hit you. What's behind some of them is often very insightful, interesting, and even heartbreaking.

Great reaction to a great song. Tupac is definitely my favorite of all time. He's definitely a street poet and this song is a good example of that side of him. He went through a lot and saw a lot and when he rapped about issues that affected him, his peers, and his community, he put his soul the words, and you can feed the emotion as he speaks them.
He's also multifaceted, so there's many versions of Tupac that one needs to be aware of when going down his discography. There's street poet pac, thug outlaw pac, black panther militant pack, party playboy pac, angry vengeful pac... That's one of the fun parts, is figuring out which Tupac you are getting when you start a new song. Either way you can expect that he's going to make it sound good, since he had a great flow and could stick to a beat like glue.
Keep Ya Head Up, Dear Mama, Unconditional Love, Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto are some great songs where you get the sensitive and thoughtful Tupac
