    Gosh, I know I’m way late on this series but I just love everything about it. I love that there’s a future for these orphaned monkeys that doesn’t involve prolonged, unnecessary interaction with humans, well-intentioned or not. I wish everyone understood that as cute as these babies are, they aren’t ours. They aren’t ours to parent, and they certainly aren’t ours to tease and torment for entertainment.
    There is nothing more heartwarming to me than to see these baby monkeys finding their monkey moms and monkey troops. Human love is better than nothing, but it will never be enough. Thank you all for caring for them with such respectful love. I’m not a primatologist, but this really seems like the gold standard for monkey rehabilitation.
    Edit: For the record, I understand that social hierarchies are very different from species to species, and finding foster moms isn’t always going to be possible or even safe to attempt. I appreciate all responsible sanctuaries equally, even when the best outcome isn’t this ideal. It’s just really cool to see something close to a happy ending for some of these babies.

    I love how these little mommies are so sweet and hopeful. I wonder how old wild infants are when they're weaned compared to these little ones? It's cool to see that strong bonds can be formed without nursing.

      Vervet Monkey Foundation a lot longer? About 15 minutes. I am glad that Jerry leg gotten better, but can she walk on it? Was the bone heal right? And why Merlin only have Dylan for a friend? Merlin should have more than just Dylan as friends. Actually i am glad Merlin open up after been being all alone for so many months. Anyways, yes, i would love a longer video... i dont want the babies to go, even though some had already found a mom.

      Vervet Monkey Foundation I watch a lot of videos of macque s in Cambodia. Their videos usually last between 10 and 11 minutes. I like that video timeframe. Love the videos with the mom's coming into the enclosure to meet the babies for the first time. Are the troop s with the adoptive mom's rescues themselves?

    Is it usually only one foster mom for each baby monkey? It’s impressive how Buffy was super patient and caring to both Ellyn and Mo.

    • @VervetMonkey
      @VervetMonkey  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anh Ha there’s no real standard. Sometimes a mom takes one, sometimes two, sometimes even three like with Mrs. Gold and the Goliath babies. There are a lot of factors involved, but in the end it’s all up to the monkeys. Buffy is super impressive 🙂 especially for a first time mom. Thanks for the question.

    • @VervetMonkey
      @VervetMonkey  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      NonieMacB some other people have also commented on this, but I think it’s just a trick in the lighting. Their eyes definitely have some color to it but they are mostly very dark in color. I think it’s just the lighting at the time and the post production coloring of the footage that makes their eyes occasionally seem to have a specific hue.

    Dear Kyle, Ive been watching youtube's Chimp,Gorilla,and Orangatan Doc's and before I found Vervet Forest just a few months ago, was captivated by the Macaque's Cambodia and India and the surrounding areas I believe. .
    You have done such GREAT work.At 70 years old here, you are doing what I have regretted since your age. After finally being accepted to the Peace Corp in 1979 after two rejections. The window for me closed.I am a hairstylist and was ,for that era, well established and the Company I worked for ,or even and one in my industry, coming back from a two year stint in Africa ,isn't looked upon unfortunately as maybe perhaps, any other place of work. I would have had to start all over building up a cliental. I regret that excuse I was holding onto then. So then, back to you!
    You mentioned possibly going to study the Cambodia Macaques? I am sure you have viewed some you tube of them from. ,what I feel are very confused people. I wish you were staying with the VF! The baby velvets for one, the group's social structor is I believe really different and yes,I'll say it,Horrible little creatures,Greedy,The moms take food out of their babies mouths Some of the babies still want to suckle 5 hearts later and are Obese,greedy,So unlike the VBervets.The velvets are so "Zen" compared to the "tree rats" that some of the comments call them.There are so many.and the People culture around them feed them comstantly many people bringing a baby home first chance they get. There are so many comments titled " Why mom so angry at baby. not feeding it" I am tryin g to copy the accent that is often used,One of the most annoying is " MILLION people sad to watch m om hurt baby so an so"
    When after looking it up, they are NOT being deliberately cruel, just trying to wean the babies off.It is a crazy scene.The babies take these little monster fits.screaming because they are spoiled and want their way. The moms HAVE to discipling their offspring especially when others are around that's how AWLFUL it is the dreams and tantrums. OR the mom gets attacctyed from thew group because she hasn't control of her baby.
    Also,I'll say it! There ARE NOT as adorable cute as vervets! I do not see at ALLthe Macaques having the compassion your Vervets foster moms haves a matter of fact.I have,except maybe one two the most, an adult female wanting to adopts and care for an orphan . I am sure you will be successful wherever and whatever you do.You Arte v truly Ble4ssed and share that goodness with anyone and all!
    I really hope you return.I'll for sure be a sponsor and watch, live through your adventures as if they were mine! Very rare indeed too see someone so young with a BIG heart in the RIGHT place.. All the best!

    Do babies in the wild suck on their fingers as well or is that something to do with the traumas the orphans have suffered?

      Aida Negron Babies in the wild usually suck their fingers when they are hungry. A lot of the videos on Allen me with the babies wearing clothes especially babies called HaHa and HeHe who sucks her fingers all the time because she is very hungry

    • @VervetMonkey
      @VervetMonkey  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No, the babies in the wild do not normally suck their fingers. The finger sucking is a supplement for their mothers teet. The babies suck their fingers because they are used to constantly being able to suckle on their mother. The suckling is for nutrition, but also for comfort.
