Roads overhaul, arctic overhaul, and sails. Other notable things: MORE ANGLED WINDOW BLOCKS PLEEAAASE. A medium autocannon for the weapons DLC would be good I think, as well as a precision rifle, since we don’t have any handheld weapons that are effective beyond like 100 meters. Gas turbine blocks, acting like the impeller pumps but only for Gasses and they Also would produce RPS when having gas forced through them, this would let us set up proper turbochargers instead of only superchargers, As well as for other purposes, and of course They’d have to added in a way that they don’t cause some infinite power generation loop. I’ve had lots of ideas that I’ve meant to write down and haven’t, these were just some.
OOOHHHHH, maybe add the ability to make hydropower and dams n stuff, unrealistic but i live down the street from Grand Coulee Dam so it would be cool to me at tleas
the two updates i think SW needs is an Arctic Update and a roadway update, you said before you dont like driving cars because of how hard driving is in SW and the roads can sometimes make your car blow up, we need smooth roads kind of like how smooth it is driving a car on railways. The arctic update just makes a larger "main island", not as big as the mainland down south but like a 5kmX4km island or something like that, because the arctic is really barren
We need tires that actually grip.. Im tired of spawning a 50 ton vehicle on dry, level concrete slab in a hanger and it just sliding away. Same with driving, you park on a 1.5 degree slope and there she goes.. Hasnt changed in many years. Roads are just a paint job, its the core of the interaction with vehicles and the entire game that needs to be fixed imo.
Building together would be amazing, because now this game is 80% building and 20% playing, so multi career lacks a little because of that. But i personally suspect that this upcoming update is about sails. Also more survival mechanics would be great, like thirst and hunger. We already have water destilation, and they could add some type of crops we could grow on boats, we could also eat fish we catch. I'd be really positively surprised if they added it.
I thought it would be sails based on three factors: 1.) popular demand over time (big integral if you think about it), 2.) the existence of soft 2d plane mesh enabler from fish nets (you mentioned it already), and 3.) they put a big picture of a sailboat right after that last section of their update message.. I mean yes, in the past the images have been pure coincidence and seemed perhaps like they might have even been trolling us, but this time it just feels like it's hitting too close to home. That said, wow yeah I hadn't even thought of the survival thing - and if you think about it, it wouldn't be that hard to implement, it seems like it would be mostly lua script and GUI based rather than having any physics engine changes at all, so you would think it is low hanging fruit for the devs. It could even be something like an addon you could flip on or off with a switch. And I would enjoy it.. I think many others would also. I would love VR mode but the excuse that people would get woozy frustrates me because I'm of the stance that if it bothers you, then just don't play it in VR. I really don't think that's a reason that VR shouldn't be implemented.
VR mode is not unlikely, but its not because of the motion sickness, I think its more that unless you make major other changes to the game, like a space engineers esq build system, you are not really benefiting that much from VR, especially when the vast majority of people who seem to own VR (myself included) enjoy the VR for games that were designed specifically for it ,and don't really enjoy games that were adapted for it later. But unless the image is a red herring, think sails is most likely, though id like to see that sails update include some form of gas bladder so we could use hydrogen to make zeppelins too.
@@ValidGoblin I agree VR for stormworks could be really awkward and maybe just something most VR users try a couple times, then just be like "meh" and go back to 2D. That's how Skyrim VR was for me, because Skyrim is notoriously bad for VR imo. If that is in fact the reason they wouldn't want to do it, then that's understandable and they should actually say that instead. But my point was simply that I disagree any game not having VR as an option being solely because some people get nausea or whatever, even if it's the majority of players who feel nausea. I really enjoyed Minecraft in VR on PSVR, and it was obviously never intended for VR, and it has potato graphics. So the potential may be there, I just wouldn't want to see it wasted. Now, if it became a choice between sails and VR, of course I'll call for dev time on sails first.
Logistic missions would be cool too - Like take a contract, location A spawns stuff that needs to go to B, or large scale passenger transportation for builds like the train you showed
I also love the editor in Stormworks. Far superior to "live" building like in Space Engineers. That said, I've felt that changing the way microcontrollers are handled has always been the biggest upgrade that could be made to stormworks. Taking microcontrollers out of the physical space, or at least breaking the 1/1 node to block ratio would be a massively improve the quality of life when building just about anything. I can only dream that one day half a car isn't dedicated to inputs and outputs...
12:10 -- RE: Wind Generators and/or Turbines providing power; Very few cool ideas to be found in the movie "Waterworld" but that was one of them. Not only did Costner's character have a catamaran (a hull form which doesn't have the same reliance upon a deep weighted keel like most other sailing vessels) but he had a 3 bladed vertical wind turbine rigged around the mainmast which completely removed any need of complex rigging or booms since the blades can accept wind from *any* direction by default. Bonus points because the turbine wasn't hooked into an electrical system but rather was mechanically linked to a transmission to drive the propeller(s).
VR support would be awesome, id still play on my PC, but just that ability to plug in my headset, and see my giant creations in scale, and have to crank my neck just to see the top would be awesome! (and scary... lol)
Hey man, i really love your videos, i love the style of your way doing videos of Stormworks and having it your way. I honestly think youre a better Content Creator than MRNJ because youre more into trying us to understand what youre doing/saying than making something very complex work in 5 minutes. If there would be a Paid Subscriber option i would definitely have one
I hope it's either sails or a new damage model, more like that of Brick Rigs or From the Depths. If a component gets completely damaged, it falls off. Maybe damaged components can only hold so much weight, etc.
That would be excellent, More missions for land vehicles. Various Cargo transports, ambulance service, etc. maybe some more use for railway infrastructure.
When I saw the fishnets, my first thought was: if they can do that, they can do sails too. The lack of sailing ships has always been a huge miss in the game - my money is on sails. Survival elements would be nice too. Then there would be more to do and the equipment on ships such as galleys, cold stores, air conditioning and cabins would finally have more relevance.
I would love to see an update of the aerodynamics. Being able to incorporate lift and gliding would be fun. It would probably break a lot of builds but I think it would be for the better. Hell if people would rather the old drag/lift then maybe just have it as an option in the addons. Also! A small thing I would love is hydrogen engines.
Limited mod support is my bet. They'll never do a map editor as that will cut down their potential profits via DLCs. They've also said a few times that VR is unachievable from a technical standpoint. They'll never overhaul multiplayer, we all know that. Every time survival is brought up in the Q&As they say it's very unlikely because there is already an add-on on the ws.
I would be very surprised if they add the multiplayer building. They said in an older Q&A that it’s pretty much not happening. I think they also said for the map editing that they most likely won’t do it for this game since they did it for carrier command and it’s something that should be built in at the start, but I believe they did say they may include it in another game later on if they do it. The vr support would be awesome! I also remember them saying that everything like the buttons etc need to be so carefully placed etc so it all feels right and that it would almost be impossible to add it in later and have it in a state there happy with. Really hoping to see sails or food!
4:10 -- RE: Modified CAD creation system, Construction and Deconstruction; IMO the comparison here probably isn't with Minecraft but rather something like From the Depths. I also seem to recall that in the past it was possible for players to get blueprints for the AI vessels they were interacting with, so perhaps "Salvage" says it better than Deconstruction.
I’m betting it’ll be survival too! I made a survival add-on a few months ago for managing food, drink, rest, and bladder, and now I can’t play without it. 🤣 It adds a whole new layer of depth to the game, especially during long playthroughs! Unfortunately, add-ons can only go so far since we're limited by the existing in-game items. 🤷♂
The only thing about the builder system I want fixed is the little glitches in the editor, like not being able to select certain things randomly and your cursor moving the camera when not pressing anything
Didn't the dev say before that they may add xml into base game? Also remembering the "leaked" motorcycle handlebars and seats, it will probably be something about land things, don't know if just motorcycles, but we'll see
i just want QOL updates, bigfixes, better multiplayer, optimisation, and i also would love some warfare updates, like better handheld weapons, better damage system, 4 chaff in 1 block (like instrument panel) and also a better career mode, and better AI
I think it might be sails, just as a natural extension of the building mechanics and developments they have done so far. however, i wonder if it migh go a step further, personally i dont think sails alone will really 'revolutionise' stormworks, however, sails require LIFT which afaik does not exist in the game as it stands, and having much improved aerodynamics might very well revolutionise stormworks.
