Going to purchase one soon because it's an affordable option and I'm brand new to cigar boxes:) Could somebody rattle off just some straightforward things I could do to upgrade it over time hardware wise and then I guess like I saw another video for the body some sort of a lacquer or gloss? Anyways any straightforward upgrade ideas that I could just kind of do here and there when I can to make it a better instrument than when it started; easy to purchase and install hardware and stuff? Thanks!

My other question is I was planning on plugging it into my Gemini 160 watt PA system instrument amp, either directly into it or running it through one of the channels on my Mackie 12 channel mixing board (48 v phantom power- that can be turned on or off/4 channels of mic/line in XLR and 1/4", balanced/balanced, with a button that says "75Hz"- I dont know what that entails? Then channels 5 through 12 splitting L (balanced/unbalanced
)/R (Line In), with each channel featuring a Button that says press for -10 or leave button up for +4 - again all Greek to me :) first four channels offer effects, level as well as high mid and low EQ and gain. Channel 5 through 12 do not offer EQ only level and effects. The effects range from reverb/echo etc, chorus and flanger. Then the mixer runs into the PA system amplifier into channel 1 of 2 both channels having gained separate from the master volume, XLR or quarter inch inputs, and a button that lets you choose between either microphone or line / instrument. Lastly there is a master EQ tone control for treble and bass. Effects pedals are not in question anyways because all I own is a bass overdrive pedal what time assuming would not be appropriate for this anyways. After that long ramble of mine which I really apologize for I'm just anxiously excited to get this thing very much and obviously; can someone suggest how I should plug this cigar box and should I go ahead and run it through the mixer since it has more options and so forth, and then into the amp? And then also what parameters should I use. Which input should it go in on should it be a channel 1 through 4 thing or a channel 5 through 12 thing; how should I utilize the gain, the EQ and the effects, what setting should I choose in terms of those buttons I was talking about awesome including the main 48-volt phantom power option, and I think lastly when running the mixer into the PA amp, anything specific I could do that would be helpful including should it be on microphone or line / instrument, and so forth. The bass and treble on the PA amp I'm sure I can just figure that out by ear. Sorry for the manic talk to text question but anybody that can read this piece together and answer my questions so I can, get the best sound out of this as possible when I start messing with it which the more bluesy and overdriven and grinding I would say the better in this case :) all feedback I would really appreciate it especially if somebody could help explain about the functions and different options I mentioned on my mixing board! Thanks ❤

Hahaha I guess I’m not the only one that thought distortion as soon as I found out this was electric. Mine should be here this weekend man! Cant wait. Now only if my new Spark amp will get here.

Thanks for the video. I probably would have bought this if I had seen the video before I bought my first CBG last year. I basically have the same type of CBG, locally built and I saw it at our County Fair and bought one.
I'm looking to upgrade now, so no more low end CBG for me! (Soup Nazi tone)

Haha ran it through a 100w tube head gain around 230 set to metal on to a line6 hx stomp Eqed compressd with two wahs , pitch shifter with some IRs like that of a vintage 50 then to two more distortion pedals mostly being used as boost haha it screamed liked a dead dying family of cats lol ,should have used a real cigar box and could have a 4th string ,I dropped the nut bolt right behind were it’s suppose to be but had to raise the low g just a notch just doubled up on some of that card paper get in the mail and I may file down the bridge bolt some ,like my strings really low for maximum action, yeah I know that’s not what this fiddle is about……WELLLLLL ITS GONNA BE ,Really tho it’s probably gonna be right next to my bed for when I don’t really want to get up hook up everything I can just play in bed I’m really considering putting a high end pickup with a vol knob ,would have done much more if at least it was a real cigar box ,it is what it is ,but the sad part is I’ve had real guitars that played much worse than this 1x2 cardboard plastic nut and bolt lol

How did you get it amplified. Did you go into a DI and then into an amp. The one I have doesn't do anything when it comes to amplification.

DI with an amp sim. It seemed to work pretty well.

Mine took a while to settle in. With it strung up, can pull the strings out of the nut and bridge, put them back, retune and sometimes that works.
