It's probably good for any .308 rifle using 20-round magazines - G3, FAL, M14, AR10, etc. The Germans overbuilt this gear so that it will last a lifetime. Good stuff.

Actually. I always thought the suspenders and buckle portion of the belt always felt very weak compared the the main belt. Also the plastic clips are prone to breaking alot. Really doubt a life time.

I think the official name for it is Koppeltragesystem or Koppeltragegestell "KTS System 95" but it`s usually only called "Feldkoppel", "Lochkoppel", "Koppel" or "Gerödel".
The exact name probably stands on the list you get where all your issued gear is listed. I don`t know if i still have it somewhere but probably not.
In 2015 the Bunderswehr ordered 125.000 new ones of this and to my understanding it`s still standard issue to everyone in the Bundeswehr.
The german standard setup for it is different.
Usually you get: 4 single mag pouches for the G36, 1 water flask pouch, 1 univeral pouch, 1 etool pouch, 1 pouch for your NBC gear and that`s it. We sewed the access straps on it to make it stronger. As for the G36 pouches you can make 2 cuts on them with your trauma sheers so they become easyer to use when you reload.
Depending on the unit you might only have the mag pouches on it. The upper bag (where you put the universal pouch) is usually left free. If you set it up right it works in conjunktion with the standard 60L Kampfrucksack(backpack) although the Berghaus backpack is much better to carry stuff.
Usually you have everything you have on it on the belt.
I don`t know if there even exist pistol mag or compass pouches for this. Not even grenade pouches which would be usefull. If i remember right you can somehow fix the handheld radio onto the chest straps but if i had it i usually had it on the sling (usually had the bigger radio though).
There are aftermarket double G36 mag pouches for it which probably will fit 3 AR15 mags.

I've seen three cell grenade pouches that were made sideways, almost like for attaching on the suspenders, a P8 holster, pistol mag pouches, kartentasche, G3 scope pouch and a pouch for those square lamps with colors on google images, when I last searched for hours, but very rarely on any online surplus stores. Usually it's G3 mag pouches, UZI mag pouches, P1 holsters, those bread bag pouches, e-tool pouches, canteen pouches and gas mask carriers. I bet BW is still storing all those rare pouches somewhere and not selling them. I wonder if there is a bayonet scabbard/carrier for the KTS95.

One way to stop the heavy duty canvas from absorbing water would be to wax it. Might be a little heavier but it will be waterproof.

My understanding is that this gear is made from Nylon.

    • @SashaTheDog

@@Steinstra-vj7wlits most likely a cotton canvas with nylon mixed into it to make breathability better.
Since soldiers joke that this thing is unbreakable and seing how the ends are cut and melted it's not pure cotton.

Its called the _Koppeltragesystem-95_ or KTS-95, or just System-95. It works very well with a PTR-91 as the mag pouches are specifically designed for G3 mags, that is if you dont mind wearing dated surplus _non-MOLLE_ gear.

I'm getting very angry, if someone wears the sternum strap twisted. I mean angry in a crazy german style and if you forget to put the fastex clips together, you will get a cold, as a German soldier.

I have one of these belts and my buckles do not stay secure on this load bearing setup. I do not know how to thread the straps on the main belt and they do not hold tension, can you maybe make a video or tell me the process to properly lace the belt buckle and/or harness straps so they dont undo themselves?
    Please and thank you

As a military history freak, I can say that the German military never really had any real designatio0n system for uniforms or combat gear. Names like M35 and such were given by more western collectors and historians as a means to identify gear. This was the same even before the First World War.

The prototype of the gear was called KTS88 so I'm sure the modern version is KTS90 I guess.
The prototype only had the shovel at the top portion. (I own about all the KTS88 stuff.)
Also there's no pistol mag pouches, there's holsters that have an inbuild mag pouch but the whole system was never designed to be used exclusively with a pistol.

You already touched on the subject that if someone is running anything but a G3, they would need to look at something else. However I just have one question, will the magazine pouches work with M14 or aluminum AR10 magazines?
