@tyvek05 He was out there with 3 guys for a whole day. At $25 an hour (probably an underestimate) that is $600 for just labor. It is probably above a grand for a recovery like that. He can stay in buisness because high costs are reasonable for recoveries that intensive. If they don't pay him, it will just sit there. And nobody can undecut him because of upfront cost and consumables (i.e. power steering pump, axles, tires, alternator)

Dear Matt, Can you please stop showing these videos of our new “trail-ready,” off-road Wranglers getting stuck all over the place? Thanks. - Jeep/Chrysler/Fiat.
LOL! As far as I can see, Matt shows that these vehicles _can_ do a lot of serious off-roading in the right hands. I would say that the main issue is people with no knowledge taking these gravel-road-ready Wranglers into situations where most off-roaders would only go with custom build sand buggies.
i know. When we see a tesla or audi , it's like yeah that seems right. All there over hyped wranglers me me laugh. Soon you will see him pulling out those new Ford Broncos .
That looked tough. Heat, elevation, gravity, loose sand, fatigue all working against you. Lots of traps out there. Many times you show where it’s easy for people to take their vehicles into places. However, it’s impossible to get out once past a certain point. Even with properly equipped vehicles.

Here in Australia we use max trax. They are a very versatile recovery board that you put under the wheel to get unstuck when you can’t tow or winch. In sand they are often the best option. TH-cam them as I think they would be a great addition for recoveries like this one!!

I needed a four-wheel drive recovery once. Not from Matt. I drove down two Cliff Terraces in a three quarter ton 4×4 Chevy. Going down was sketchy but easy. Could not get out either side. Called a four-wheel drive Recovery Service don't remember who. He brought some equipment. We needed it all plus more. 400 yards of cable to get to my truck. He drug it back up the cliff. With a big Wrecker. $650 approximately a six-hour day.
Matt always has such a calm demeanor, even after all the frustration in 104 degree weather he keeps tackling the problem. The Titanic might have had a different ending if he was on board.
There's a thing called editing......lol
You know its serious when matt airs down the customers tires..
Was thinking the same. Plus... a WINCH!
Matt is one of the few people I know of that actually needs beadlocks
@@Treyorrrr seriously.

Matt you must have kept hearing Ed's voice saying "We'll get em out!" Great job and video . Thanks for taking us along on the adventure.
I too missed Ed’s “We’ll get em out”
I watch alot of different recovery groups on TH-cam but out of all of them matt is probably the most wholesome family oriented person I've ever witnessed on this app
Well done Matt and team, that was certainly the toughest i've watched you perform. But all credit to everyone for keeping their cool and someone was watching over you all. Best wishes on easier recoveries in the future but this one is a "tucked under the belt" experience stay safe all of you.....
That's the worst(negative) comment I have heard Matt say... "please don't go down the shute". Haha!
People want to see the lovely country, but don't understand the challenges. (Matt should sidework 4×4 tours)
Never downing the customer, never negative, just going to get 'em unstuck.
Cheers Matt. Class Act
I think it is absolutely awesome that Ed has a gold claim he is working. He's a rare breed.
Id buy a few g's of some Ed gold
The real gold is on YT. Make money from the customers and then make more on YT.
I secretly wonder if “gold claim” is some kind of euphemism
@@CordCrenshaw I've known his type my whole life and built gold processing equipment (shaker tables, spirals ect...) for guys like him, he screams every part of an old guy with an actual gold claim which isn't all that uncommon.

I have been in the automotive towing industry for 35 years and I have so much admiration for you guys. You have more guts than I do.
When Matt opened the trunk and I saw the winch, I knew Matt was concerned, and when Matt is concerned, *you'd* better be concerned.
Wow, that was quite a mess to deal with. Never doubted you though. If I ever get stuck anywhere near you, I will be calling you for sure.

Dadgum. That was a tricky one. Every time I hear Matt say "Sand shute" I can feel his tension. Having seen it and experienced it (on my old Banshee 25 years ago) I am impressed every time I see Matt getting up it.
I think this qualifies as extreme duty on the vehicle maintenance scale.
Loved the comment about this is how my night is going and it used to be my day a while ago. Haha
I'm thoroughly impressed with Matt's off roading skills. This video is testament to "his less is more" style of getting things done! Good job Dude!
Matt, I just wanted to let you know that I’m two years into this channel. The other channels you have teamed up to build the support and community services you all provide has been one amazing ride. I’ve shared all the different channels with so many off road groups. I hope I can meet you someday, only not like the folks who “made a call.”
Much respect to the help and support the community has pooled together to help other’s who are in need.
I'm glad Ed didn't go on that one. 104 degrees, at his age, climbing that steep mountain for that many hours. Poor guy would have been toast.
Ed’s pretty tough. I wouldn’t have even made it out there though.
Ed would rip a pack all day and be just fine. he's like the 4.0 of humans
Ed dunno, but I'm 42 and I had to drink cool water just for watching the video
I still remember that one video where a young in was complaining about breathing in high altitude then you see Ed rip a cigarette out. Ed is a machine.
Eds a Lion in a Tigers suit wearing wolves boots..
At the end of the rescue:
Guy: So uhh, how much is this gonna cost me?
Matt: How much ya got?
Guy: On me?
Matt: In your savings account
Might have been cheaper to leave the jeep at the bottom and buy a new one...
When I got yanked out by a different company here in Colorado, I was way out in the boonies and it took about 5 hours and a lot of obstacles and it only ran me $580. $100 an hour and $80 fuel charge.
where i’m from all that work is about 600ish plus fuel charge

I expected nothing less than Ed being an ol’ fashioned gold prospector. Fits him perfect. Wish he hits the mother lode!
Then he can buy 20,000 cartons of cigarettes.....
And he’s smart enough not to go out in 104 degree desert with a hill from hell
Good on Matt for keeping his team's safety in mind & hydrating appropriately. It's too easy to turn a recovery into a MedFlight.
I'm amazed. Matt makes the difficult look easy, the extreme look mundane and the impossible, actually possible. I applaude your talents and attitude!
This could have been titled, "How to put 10,000 miles wear and tear on a vehicle in only a 1/2 mile!". 🤣

Love to watch these rescues. You and your crew are fearless. Full of true grit, and a driving ambition for success. You know not, the meaning of the word, quit. Very inspirational program. And the price to take it out
Dear Matt,
Can you please stop showing these videos of our new “trail-ready,” off-road Wranglers getting stuck all over the place?
LMAO!!!!!
i know. When we see a tesla or audi , it's like yeah that seems right. All there over hyped wranglers me me laugh. Soon you will see him pulling out those new Ford Broncos .
😂
You forgot Toyota! Laughed at the new Toyota turd that was stuck everytime tried to gun engine getting out.. the computer reduced rpm.
That looked tough. Heat, elevation, gravity, loose sand, fatigue all working against you. Lots of traps out there. Many times you show where it’s easy for people to take their vehicles into places. However, it’s impossible to get out once past a certain point. Even with properly equipped vehicles.
I know, it’s gonna be hard job when Ed says I rather look for gold. Lol
Yes! Love it.
Matt's dogs bark at me every morning when I ride my bike by his shop. I've wondered who was nuts enough to go down the chute and I've passed lost souls on the Babylon Mill Road. Didn't know Matt was a TH-cam sensation until my nephew told me about him when he came down Mt. Biking the other day. Good job. I'm glad I did enough off-roading when young to not do such dumb stuff.
Look like a set of bead locks would be on the future shopping list. lol
New tires too.
And some Maxxtraxx.
shocked he doesn't have them already he runs 5-8 psi most the time! and theres idiots that spend thousands on beadlocks only to air down once a year lol
@@gkanai He claims that if his tires were new that he would be stuck right next to his clients...
I made a comment about the tread looking thin in the last video..
Funny cause when he got the tires over a year ago he said they were great.
it would be too heavy. he tries to keep his jeep light so that he doesn’t sink, which is unfortunate, because i agree that beadlocks would help
you're a good man Matt and you really care a lot more than you show us ,God bless mate , you're a skilled operator.
This is the first time I see Matt airing down the customer tires, I knew the title wasn't clickbait XD

Steve Smith the first video i watched was when he got the wrecker stuck with the rv probably close to 5k subs
Yes, Matt very rarely makes changes to the customer vehicle, such as airing down. Presumably this is to limit liability exposure. Clearly, this recovery was so difficult that he had to break the rule.
Holding my breath on that one! Was amazed that little pump was able to re seat the beads! Thankfully I've never had to try that with mine. Another great job!
There are some tricks to getting it done. It's all part of the game playing off the beaten paths.

Nice one, I was waiting for a post like this 👍🏻🇬🇧🇷🇴
starter fluid works a treat.
Watching those tires wear and wear and wear and wondering just when Matts gonna change them (yes I know he’s already addressed it, just curious where he draws the line)
No cords are showing they are good.
shallow threads are good for floatation on sand, that's why he keeps them
I drive a lot in Florida sugar sand and I've found that tires with very little tread do great in the sand. Deep tread just seems to dig a hole while slick tires stay on the surface.
Less tire less weight
I'm sure Matt's Jeep has been the reason that more than a few sets of PATAGONIA tires have gone out the door...time for PATAGONIA to show some love.
Wow that’s an impressive effort. Matt broke his truck helping that guy out. Never go out alone, especially if you are inexperienced.

I'm part of an off-road recovery group here in Quebec... and I tip my hat to you good sir :)
Here in Australia we use max trax. They are a very versatile recovery board that you put under the wheel to get unstuck when you can’t tow or winch. In sand they are often the best option. TH-cam them as I think they would be a great addition for recoveries like this one!!
Matt has a saying about such devices, something about how if they get you out then you really weren't stuck
I like your equipment storage in the back. I figure it's quicker to just untangle what I need than to wrap everything up really neat and have it get tangled anyway from bouncing around.

That was hectic, there should be a warning sign at the top of that hill, well done on a really tough job
There probably is. People make mistakes.
Just a photo of Matt's face with the caption "Don't drive down the chute" ought to do it.
Seriously. Or maybe just a picture of the bill of pulling someone up that hill once they stuck. I have no idea how much it costs to get rescued like this, but i imagine this one was a costly one. They been there there the whole day and suffered damage to their car.
The Banana made it after 500 lbs of human got removed lol
But like he said, it depends a lot on conditions. That sand is LOOSE and deep right now.
Legend has it, they're still out there, but somewhat closer to the top.
Great show! MaxTrax need to be added to the tool box!! For sand, deep snow and mud situation traction boards are a great simple tool to go with a winch! I had a few sand recovery, without winch, just using traction boards, not saying that in this situation it would be enough but it would help :)
II would say to put a "Warning sign" at the top of "The Shute" but that would probably only encourage more people to do it. You need a yellow recovery helicopter.
On the sign it says by passing this sign you hearby agree to 15 times the normal recovery rate.
Too hot for the "Dawgs"?
Put a windscreen washer nozzle so it sprays on the radiator.
I was thinking the same thing but with one of those nozzles off a mister and a switch that keeps it on for longer but then I see where Matt put another heater core under the hood with a fan venting it through the louvers in the the hood and has no problem with heat now
Put a larger radiator...
@@14KiloWhisky there are limits to how effective this can be. You end up with less of a differential temperature so it may run cooler but not necessarily cool enough.
