    The magnetic drawer is actually useful. If you use the drawer for token cards you can easier get the drawer out. This would be my box IF they had a version which could hold deckboxes.

    • @beyondthedeckbox
      @beyondthedeckbox  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can definitely see that. I guess for me personally, I'm just puzzled by small magnet flap on the drawers themselves. It just seems unnecessary as they could have just put in a little space for a finger hold and it would have done the same thing. But I can absolutely see how they could be useful in various applications.

    This is my favorite product ever. I use the side slots to carry oversleeved commanders and the larger slot for a digital life pad which I've NEVER had a product be able to accommodate and it fits it perfectly. So nice to not go digging blindly through my backpack for that every FNM.
    As for the drawers I'm a player who loves to have tokens and counters physically represented and if possible, with the official, appropriate, token from Wizards. The open-topped tray perfectly fits a Cheesex standard dice set as well as a large d6 container (the one with like 25 d6s) and the slotted trays I use to hold my "token board" which is 30-40 of every relevant token, monarch, innovative, dungeon, On an Adventure, etc card I could ever need and when they come up from any of my decks I'm carrying I have access to the real thing right there.
    I will concede it would have been nice to have smaller deck boxes fit in the main compartment, it's such a snug fit even oversleeved cards cannot fit which is a bummer for my most blinged-out deck. The material could also be better, color options as well.
    Great review, just wanted to drop my anecdotal experience with the product!

    The flap is there to help get tokens out of it when you only have one or two left. There’s even a little indentation on bottom of the drawer. If you don’t want it flapping out when you go to pull it out, just put it in with the solid side facing out….

    • @beyondthedeckbox

      Thanks for the comment! Other commenters have mentioned similar uses for it. I'm glad it works for you!

  • @aegidaeon

    basically you just want a box. That's fine. Get a box. This seems the wrong tool for your needs. But judging it based on those needs is like saying: Water - 0 points, because i'm not thirsty, i'm hungry. Those drawers with the flap for instance have the purpose of being able to be filled with cards and when you can't put your finger in the slot anymore because cards are in the way you can pull the flap down and grab that to pull out the drawer. Also the size is to also fit like a cube in it. Cube as in "the format", not a deck box.

    • @beyondthedeckbox
      @beyondthedeckbox  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And that's why I said it doesn't fit my needs, but it might fit yours. Which is great! I hadn't thought about the flap with cards, so thank you for mentioning that! I'll remember that if I come across these again in another product. Thanks for watching!

      @@beyondthedeckbox I'm not sure if they released an English version, i recently watched a German review including an interview with the developers which is where of course all the feats where mentioned - however it was about the newer lair 600+, which does feature both those magnetic drawers and bigger standard drawers for dice and tokens. Thanks for the video! I did not mean to be mean, sorry! I wished you had the chance to learn more about the feats and then tell us 'look, i wouldn't need those' or why you would improve on them technically. Those thin slots i totally agree about - guess those should've gotten some slots at the bottom...

    I luv it. I bought it for a cube but ended using it for all my fab decks, dices, tokens, extra sleeves, artbooks, it's my fav box, not only ferpect for their use but beautiful; but you're right about the external material. the compartments are basically a copy of tolarian's academic and the flapping things instead of normal draws give them much more longevity since the friction is high.

    I like this review because it’s honest. Now I personally love these because it fits my preferences but it’s still good to know what the limitations might be. I use the side slots for score pads and random leaflets that came with various magic products. The draws I use as follows, the top is various dice and the rest sorts tokens. I also see the need for a loose card holder because most stuff out there is for deck boxes. The dungeon holds those like a champ.

    too much of this review was you being unhappy that this isn't a carbon copy of the Arkhive. It already exists. This covers a different set of use cases from the Arkhive. And good news: It doesn't require buying a bunch of Boulders.

    Why don't you just reverse the drawer and push the side with the magnetic flap in first, so you will only be pulling at the non-magnetic side. Then when u pull it out, your D20 will not 'pour' all over the place. Actually, I love this case design. Fits my need totally.

    • @beyondthedeckbox
      @beyondthedeckbox  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I used to play Magic, but I don't these days. When I saw this at my local store the first thing I thought of was using it for a card based game that has some extra tokens or pieces. Something like The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, or Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition.

    Hi, I know this is an old video but if you see this, how hard is it to pick your deck out if you happen to fill it with 4 decks + tokens if they fit? Also I'm assuming planechase cards are the same size as the oversized commander decks? Just to be sure those fit in there? And thank you. Been looking for a box that can protect my planechase cards and smarthive isn't an option since the only ones left on the market are pink. Not my color.
