      Dpt me only surface defect detect hota hai.. And in mpi surface and subsurface defect detect hota hai upto 5 mm depth

    As per ASME 31.3 what are the RT requirements of socket weld in severe cycle service

      Socket weld and branch connections weld which are not radiographer shall be examined by magnetic particle or lpt methods in accordance with Para 344.3 or 344.4

    sir my question is how much allowance of depht of undercut we can accept you said not exced 1mm for less or equal one by four of thickness of the weld, i didnrt understand weld that part can you clarify me please?

      Undercut depth is allowable upto 1 mm and the tw/4 is the length of undercut..

      generally it is less that 3 percent , however it is not mentioned in any codes and standard .Please follow client requirement and how to calculate the percentage please see below .
      if welder did 100 joints but RT requirement is only 10%. so we took 10 joint RT. and suppose we have 2 joint repair in those RT joints than %repair = 2/10 * 100 = 20 %

      0.5 mm for T from 3 mm to 6 mm
      1 mm for T greater than 6 mm to 50 mm
      1.5 mm for T greater than 50 mm
