- The main things to keep in mind when choosing a vehicle for a stakeout is to choose a color that blends in, most people that live in the city drive black or grey cars, most people that live in more rural areas drive black, brown, dark grey, and dark green cars. Should you be following someone that you know and they know the car that you drive, you may need to rent a car as to not blow your cover.
Urinal cup? Dude, as you get older (which you are doing) that prostate gets bigger. When it does, you’re going to need more than a urinal cup. It is a nice start to a vehicle, but, not the best. I’ve seen so many investigators use what they believe is the BEST vehicle it boggles my mind. If it works for you, that’s what’s best. Distance and pretexts are your friends. Utilize them!
Best way to not look like a PI is to look like a drug dealer...
Also use the Nikon P1000 or P900 while on surveillance.
I use a (4) in car 180 degree each camera system to watch over my car in bad areas, each camera is motion activated and records automatically of where only motion is detected. I FREAKING LOVE IT , CLEAR IMAGES ALL THE TIME. No videos of my surveillance car is allowed to be shown , SORRY😢
everyone does things differently and i see quite a few videos of all the different setups. some are cool, some are beyond to much. i used to have all sorts of stuff. I have really simplified my vehicle and gear so i dont have to lug everything around anymore
I have a power invertor, 3 ports and its small so it fits nicely.
laptop stand hooked in the front. its actually nice and easy to work with. it doesnt get in the way.
sony 250gb hard drive camera, with a large battery. i have 3 backups just in case that i bought over the years.
window tint
i then bought a large 1 gallon water container from walmart, where the ice stays cold for days
cellphone with a cd mount wireless fast charger
essentially thats it.
I also wont freeze or sweat to death, so i do constantly run my vehicle during the summer, and as needed during the rest of the year.

I am going to be buying a new car soon. The one I want is a ford focus "RS" hatchback. It's really sporty and it would definitely stand out. Do you think that I should avoid buying that car, or could I make it work? Driving is my favorite thing to do, and this is simply the car I want to drive for the next 5 years, but I have recently been thinking about trying PI work and if having a flashy car is going to squash my chances of having any luck I might have to look at something less "fun" for a surveillance car.
My friend told me (hes a police officer and i don't if this statement is correct but its make sense to me) good undercover car is the one that stand out like pink jeep or something because you won't ever think car like that be an unmarked car but good surveillance car is the one that low profile
that's called reverse psychology and it can work but you're going to notice a pink jeep following you right away

@dreamscomingtrue6424 called the Ascension Parish sheriff office and reported a suspicious vehicle. They came out 5 cars deep and when they pulled up on him it was a foreign looking dude and he flashed a badge. The police told him he couldn't be there because it was private property and he wasn't a resident.

Wrong the biggest red flag is your limo grade tint that blows your cover also if I’m had any suspicion I would grab your plate and have you followed on a later date and either disabling you car or plant explosives on it. All this said I’m not in any criminal organization or commuting any crime nor do I have any intent commit any criminal act but simple from a civilian perspective this is what can give you away.

lol so the very dark windows that people know are to dark and looks suspicious it sticks out like a sore thumb. the best surveillance car I seen was an old 90s Mercedes diesel 4door with a couple stickers on the bumper and. back window stuff dangling in the rear view mirror that usually have tinted windows not as dark but dark enough my old friends never knew it was until their bust. and they were meth heads and were constantly paranoid of being surveiled so they were all about counter surveillance. my little story on surveillance vehicles. I'm sure you're works but it totally sticks out

Mercedes diesel could never keep up in pursuit type activity,I do agree that the van should have lighter windows on the front two windows as to not look suspicious since the investigator will be in the back
