Thank you for this clear video but it appears the latest update changed so that the 'Screen Lock Options' are no longer available in Chrome OS so that you will only be able to unlock your device after you’ve already signed in. You will no longer be able to sign in with Smart Lock after a reboot. I liked this option since I always had my phone handy on my belt holster. I suggest petitioning Google to restore the option. No one is forced to use it
When I'm on the lock screen and my Smart Lock is on the lock screen down in the right hand corner tells me the Bluetooth is off and my Wi-Fi is off but it's on it shows that it's on but it's faded that I can't click it how do I fix that so I can just ha log in to my computer without putting in the password or passcode and just touch the pitcher to log in to my computer I have a Dell Chromebook
I'm not very computer savy (I'm old! ) I only have my chrome bk for home use. I just received my new chrome book yesterday my old one did not have this function If I DON'T wish to switch on Smart Lock as I fear it will cause me a lot of confusion, is it ok to just leave it as it is without doing anything? I'd be very grateful for your advice, sincerely Maresi L
Could have been more informative... I'd suggest adding an update/part 2 that includes any consequences to other apps or functionality when using smart lock. Does it block some authenticator apps from working? On Chrome OS it does for me.
Works fine if you have a pixel phone and pixel Chromebook. Restricted on some other devices as far as I'm aware. Works fine for me, but I am using a pixel phone and a pixel Chromebook.
This login setup for Chromebook makes me not want to be happy with the machine. Terrible system to log in. You complex password, please but you can't remember it when it's complex, so you have to look it up each time. Bad feature! And now this person says feature not available. Tempted to return the Chromebook.
I noticed even if my phone is far away and its unlocked, someone could just unlock the chrome OS device... this is very not secure.... unless you walk completely out of the house it will open...

I did hear about some changes. I guess it's for security purposes.

Yes, you don't need to use smartlock. That's absolutely fine.

Am I correct in assuming this feature won't work on older Chromebooks whose OS reached end of support?
As far as I'm aware, only if your Chromebook support ended before this feature was released.

Doesn't work on Chrome OS Flex, as so many things ... Disappointing. Why does Google implement a feature in flex when its unusable?
It's not really about flex. Since this video was made it has also changed on ChromeOS, which I believe was due to a security floor.
