    Love ChromeOS and Chromebooks. I've been running virtually everything through Chrome OS for a number of year's now, but since the pandemic hit and we've been working from home for nearly a year now my Pixelbook Go has supported everything I do for my work. Connect it to a remote work desktop and I don't need anything else tbh.

    I come from a Windows background (since early 90s), so I know a bit about PCs, and it's great to see a Chrome OS review "for newbies", but without it being too dumbed down. You got the balance just right. Many thanks :-)

      Lol dude I got you beat when I started I only had aol and 144bud modem to get online VGA display and sound blaster sound card Yes that's right All those are extra options some time I have to setup IRQ so they won't interfere with each other but that was the fun in trying to figure those out and install driver on window 3.0 no plug n play next step probably will be brain interface which is a helmet like device to wear and can interact with PC maybe even it will devices hook up to our sense kinda like a VR games so with Chrome os been in the cloud my grandson is probably going to spend his life in the VR cloud for school,fun and date 🥰🤪who knows what is going to happen in the future and when I started I be happy I have a 144byte connecting speed gigabyte speed sounds like a science fiction novel

    I was a long term windows user ( I am 66 and have had a personal computer since the commodore 64). I was running windows 7 on my 12 year old pc. It was so slowwwww! I just bought a chrome book 2 weeks ago and I love it. I am convinced that the majority of pc users would be better off with a chrome book. I was worried that my excel and word apps would no transfer over but they work great on Google docs. Besides all this it is much more economical.

      You might be able to install Google Chrome OS Flex on that ancient notebook, if you kept it. I'm age 73 and started on the Tandy TRS 80 with an 8" floppy. 64k was a ton of memory in those days! LOL.

    I have been using Chrome OS for last 3 days and I am fan of simplicity and elegance. For me being a developer Linux support is the biggest point.
    PS : Running on my budget gaming laptop on dual boot with windows 10.
    And I am loving it. Sure serious gaming is missing but for most people it is good. Hope google brings inbuilt app store to download desktop Linux apps. That would be really good

    I tried using Chrome OS via triple boot on my 2014 HP laptop with Pentium N3530 CPU, 4GB DDR3 RAM, and 500GB SATA HDD. It was painfully slow to run games in it. More than that, some mobile games like Real Racing 3 can't be installed in Chrome OS. So really, Chrome OS is nothing more than just a glorified RAM-eating Chrome browser with Android tablet app support.
    To be brutally honest, I'd rather buy a flagship-grade smartphone that has Desktop Mode capability like Samsung, LG, and Huawei instead of a Chromebook laptop.

    7:39 the claim that security is a deliberate bonus is bull, you'll learn quickly that there is a less of a point to attack uncommon OSs Because there's just less to to gain. Because chrome OS is based off of Linux, they'res not any real threats to individuals, and because chrome os is a supped up web browser, any important data is almost garenteed to be stored in the cloud. Google is doing the bare minimum for security

    • @itGenius_
      @itGenius_  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree… hardware boot security as well as account encryption out of the box are a solid security features

    • @dealerofdeeth6043
      @dealerofdeeth6043 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@itGenius_ again if the majority of your files are online then encryption is less important in my opinion, administration can more effectively recover from damaged and out of date hardware. Which I admit that Cos would be a great option for but Google drive shouldn't be the only option for data storage.

      I honestly would just get rid of that PC at this point. Even though ChromeOS is pretty light weight and can run on older systems, that's just too old. Browsing the web (the main purpose of a Chromebook/ChromeOS) will likely be very slow and not worth it. ChromeOS Flex requires at least 4 GB of RAM.

    I have Microsoft Surface go tablet, I installed Chrome OS, I loved the OS simplicity, the clean desktop, the easy use of Google apps, the only issue I had, is the disabled wifi, I can't connect to wifi, I can't even activate it. I Can connect using my phone but not with home wifi.

    This guy is right. Chrome is not for anyone not fully experienced with computers. For all others it is essentially crap.
    Forget the BS that Chrome is simple and fantastic for everyone.
    Basic problem is that it is designed by experienced experts who knew too much about computers but nothing about the needs of those and less experienced.
    Most simply said - they knew nothing about their own 'over'comings.
    On top of that the systems/machines seem to have minds of their own and do not function well - frequently just willy-nilly changing their own settings multiple times in any session of use.
    The 'Edsel' of the field and a waste of funds.

    Is there an easy way to remote into a Chrome OS without the user doing much in their end except clicking on a popup button to allow such remote access? This is great for remote screen sharing so tech support can see what the problem is or teach people how to use Chrome OS.

    • @itGenius_
      @itGenius_  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately not... remote support is limited, frustrating

      Hey there! Chromebooks can connect to mobile networks using dongles, or even devices that can connect to wireless broadband networks. And quite currently, Chromebooks have supported a few models of dongles like Huawei. If you need more information or assistance with Chrome, don't hesitate to hit us up: www.itgenius.com/
