Such an inspiration to anyone learning magic. This man paved the way for most people performing magic today whether they know it or not.

I agree with dc. Thank God his work has been preserved on tape. The man was a genius and we magicians owe him so much.

The get-ready move for the rope stretch is baffling to me. It without a doubt looks like magic.

I was taught that exact rope trick at a Bible Camp several years ago. It was meant to be an evangelism tool, and there was scripted patter about the trinity or something to go with it. There was an entire chapel full of camp counselors fumbling around with rope practicing that trick to each other. That's probably about the only useful thing I learned there, if I'm honest.

Dick Cavett had some fascinating guests. It just seems like everyone he picked to be on his show was someone who is worthwhile. Very few empty-headed actors or other such boring people.

The rope trick is called The Professor's Nightmare. Doug Conn has a tutorial on his channel.

This guy is supposed to be the master?? He doesn't have any charisma and takes too long to get to the tricks.
I've seen many other rope magic acts far better.

Cool story bro. This guy is a legend and anyone who disagrees has no respect for the history of tricks like this.
