Thanks. I don't see the point in managing hyprland declaratively, it disables the hot reload and makes things harder.

hi man, thanks for the video!. i have a question. how much would the process change if you dont use flakes? i struggle of finding a "vanilla" installation without flakes and home manager. if i only add hyprland to my environment.systemPackages, it rebuilds but it doesnt start after a reboot. i assume im missing a service or something?

Hyprland has a program variable you can just “enable” it. Check out the nixos options on the nixos packages website :) and then make sure you have a compatible login manager like greetd or so or launch Hyprland from TTY once installed

@@TechSupportOnHold1 The only problem is that Hyprland won't be running newer releases if you don't use flakes. The version is stable is v0.32.3_1713477760 and it's not changed much at all. Latest unstable is v0.39.x and it's changing rapidly. This is fine, but you'll need to make sure you select version 0.32.3 when referencing the wiki or you may reference features that don't exist in your Hyprland config.

I'd really appreciate more details on your gnome config customisation.

I will do a complete tutorial from start to finish to set up hyprland and flakes in the near future but I’m quite busy lately which makes it hard to find the time
