Yeah I can’t remember a funny ad from these times. They’re all simply like “buy this”, no mini stories or twists. Gotta be the medium. The collective prime time viewing allowed cultural infusion.
You should have watched “de paarse krokodil.” It’s funny but also painfully true 😂 also the Douwe Egberts commercial of 2 grandma’s talking slang is hilarious!

I think he said it on national television. At least I already knew before this commercial came out. It made it so brilliant. Pieter's father was involved with the PSV football club. This commercial suggests Pieter was playing for the PSV football club. I don't know if that's true, but Pieter did start swiming for the PSV swim club. This commercial is so brilliant because it all comes together.

I'm surprised there's no Melkunie commercials in this. But all of these bring back so many memories. And of course we'll still use some of the phrases in these today.

The Yogho Yogho song actually came out as a single in 1993 (Het grote puntje puntje lied because of course they couldn't use the brand name) and reached number 12 in the Dutch top 40. It's just a very silly, very Dutch 90s thing. It's catchy.
You're right, I totally forgot about that. I do remember how popular it was though. The commercials, that is. It was totally new back then. We had some kids over from Hungary for a few weeks. They were staying with different families. When they met again to go back home after 3 weeks, they all knew how to say 'Yogho yogho!' They were talking about it among each other. They all learned at their separate families. And keep in mind, 'yogho yogho' is very hard to pronounce for non-Dutch speakers, but these kids all could. This is how immensely popular and omni-present this commerical was.

The one of Snoop Dogg is an almost exact copy of an earlier commercial from them, so Marco Borsato already knew what to expect behind the counter (because he had seen that previous commercial) and still he was surprised in this one. That's the joke. :)
I remember seeing some of those back when I was a kid! The Calve ones and ice cream one are really nostalgic. My mom loved the one with the old lady driving like a nutcase a lot. They were so much better than the current commercials. I really miss them.

The Yogho Yogho one is definitely marketed to kids (it's a fruity milk drink). I remember when my nephew was just learning rhymes, he thought they were hilarious and tried to make some up himself too. Apparently grasping rhymes and being super silly are often around the same age for kids so it really plays into that
I still greet people with "goedemoggel". That commercial great too, difficult to translate, though. But if you just throw in a bunch of auto corrections at the worst time, he'll get it 😂
Oof, that Amstel commercial! I haven't had a linear TV subscription for years, never seen that one. Yeah, that Yogho! one was VERY popular in like 1991-1992. So catchy! I believe they did later ones based on the same idea but they weren't as good because it wasn't original anymore.
5:19 they had also one with a guy who’s shower suddenly went cold but he took it like a boss. The boxes fit/unfit appeared and obviously he was considered ‘fit’. Up to now when my wife or I are taking a shower, we yell ‘unfit!’ to each other to prevent one of us using hot water somewhere else in the house lol!
Well, since you asked: opening beer bottles with your teeth is doable. Back in the day I used to do it with my molars in times of need, would not try it with the front teeth. It's also not adviseable to continue doing this after a certain age 😉Entertaining video btw!

They guy from the next garden, to whom the dog did listen was a good fit. The message of the commercial: Test yourself, before you apply. We only need real men with real competence.
I did this once with my teeth for some American archeology students working on a dig in the Netherlands. They had seen the commercial and they liked it a lot. I had opened the lid on the bottle with a normal opener and pushed it lightly back on. But they were impressed. I just had to explain how I did it, because i was afraid they would try it and damage their teeth. 😀

i almost always open non-twistoffs with my teeth but i do it differently than in the commercial, even tho seeing that commercial when i was younger prompted me to teach myself how to open beer with my teeth. it has come in very handy at those degenerate hangouts and everybody either used a lighter or a me.
Tell you what just yesterday I was thinking about this channel and that I didn’t see a video from you guys for like years
18:08 I did use to do that (DUMB MOI!), back when I was in my teens/early 20's but I used to use my molars to open up a bottle of beer. Silly me
Die reclame van centraal beheer. Met die rastaman die bijna de afgrond in rijdt. En die met leeuw op dak van auto😂. Even Apeldoorn bellen.
The yogho yogho advert must've been before the late 90's, since that was when I left the Netherlands. And it was so catchy and a trend at school, that I still remember all the lyrics, the video I totally didn't remember, except Dracula. Haven't seen the brand in ages. It is a very bad ad, but if it still sticks 30 years later, it certainly did it's job.
Centraal beheer ging vroeger echt hard met grappige reclames, die van Delta Lloyd met boomcar was ook goed.
You forgot the best of all, the Douwe Egberts grandma Commercial.
And goeiemoggel from KPN is funny as well.
Yogho yogho was a typical 90s commercial 😂😂😂😂
I can open my beer like that kinda a dutch thing I think😂😂 it happened with the first one I opened like that and now it's an unwritten rule😂
Yogo commercials next to the even apeldoorn bellen are the best.
So funny to see Americans being shocked about a "bad" word on Dutch prime TV, when 2A commercials on US TV are no problem 😄.
As an European i approve this commercials...very good and smart..something that Murica doesn't understand..keep up the good work Lower Countries!!
