I didn't, have a cell phone or home phone or social media for the longest time. It used to be fun watching my boss get totally aggravated when he couldn't contact me. Of course it got to the point several years ago where you couldn't do anything without being on line. I still miss being a ghost.
Yeah, I keep getting sales calls from people like Edward, Joe Ann, Steven from local numbers all with heavy accents. I return a call to the number and it is some private person that has no idea what I am talking about.
IF you can get one. they have been disconnected by CenturyLink here locally. IT sucks. Never wanted cell, but no choice here in Portland Oregon. Only businesses get landlines.
Years ago I set up a Google Voice number and set it to forward to my home phone and cell phone. I only give out the GV number which allows to me to block calls and give custom messages if I desire.
I have two phones numbers, One is my personal phone number. I change this one once a year.... The other one is unregistered, I keep it for my OTP & gaming....
I don't put my personal cell on social media, and a big "maybe" on relatives. Lots of social media ask you to share your contact list, so it's not private anymore.
In Europe there are 10 countries that allow phone SIM prepaid without ID , passport checking when buying. Roaming in European Union means that you can use a SIM card with 5/ 20 GB depending on offer with any 5/ 20 Euros in any UE county. Cheapest way to be online and safe. A second dumb phone with 5 euro plan for calling is a must.
Looks like a great product. I recently travelled with an esim which I purchased for 1 month. An esim and new mailbox is a simple alternative until cloaked is available in your region.
Have you looked into this company personally? It appears that their privacy policy isn't exactly focused on privacy. Also the numbers available are UK numbers?
The anti-span software I use is expensive, and does not have the capability of products like Cloaked. Thanks for pointing out this option! Have a great trip in Europe! And thank you for all the great advice.
A problem with a cellular number is that THEY DO CHANGE. They are not truly permanent for the person using the number. Companies asking for your number are making a mistake to think they will always be with the same person. Trouble with a carrier? Go to diferent carrier and often need to have a new cell number.
@@LironSegev A better question is, 'how long did I have my previous number'? I lost two of them because the companies would not continue my service. I did not know ways to move to a new service and keep the same numbers. Those times, lack of knowledge - in part mine. Still learning, off and on. The lost numbers would have become recycled by now and likely belong to other people.

Hi. This is an impressive service, TFS I'd like to request a current video about VPNs, if it's possible. I'm absolutely not interested in doing illegal stuff, but I'm concerned in case things go extra totalitarian over here.
So not all burner phones work internationally. You could buy a local sim card. However that doesn't solve the problem on an ongoing basis when you aren't traveling. If you keep one burner number then you are associating that number with your accounts so kinda defeats the purpose.
@OlettaLiano In order to create or access my online accounts, they ask to send a text to your phone number. My phone crashed, and for a few weeks before I bought a new phone, I couldn't access anything or even open new accounts anywhere. TH-cam is my only "social media" account.
Can't you do most of this with a google phone number? That's what I do and it's free! I just give out my google phone number and mute notifications so I don't hear if someone calls or texts it.
nope because you aren't going to get rid of your Google number when you are done with say a trip or with using a service. And if you give out your Google number to every website/ service you are effectively just leaving tracking data anyways - so what's the point?
@@reefhound9902 eh...so you agree. Fingerprinting. So I am not sure how you can say that having a constant like a Google number provides adequate separation. Oh and congratulations on the 20 years of cyber security programming. 👍

I've had my current cellphone number for 13 years. Yet I still continue to get texts for its previous owner.
I ignore calls. I can call them back if they leave a message (most don't).
Thats the only way to handle it
Some sites block 3rd party email addresses and phone numbers.
