You didn’t see roger base reaction to the original roster reveal. The guy was so over whelmed not only was he crying he could not speak at times he started rapid breathing. I thought the poor guy was going to have a fainting spell out something like that.
Out of all the people who've posted reacts to the Pyra/Mythra reveal, you are the only one to go into the past and dramatically document how long you've been hoping and yearning for this. I'm literally in tears. I'm glad I chose to open a longer react.

After the initial announcement, even though I REALLY liked Splatoon, and was ecstatic to have the Inklings, I'm like, "...I would love to have Rex/Pyra in this, and it makes sense...". And every subsequent reveal I waited to see if I'd get my wish (although, Banjo/Kazooie was an exception, since they were like the "why weren't they in before?" kind of character). ...The season's pass was like, "sigh... okay, at least he acknowledged why. He's at least aware there was actually a demand, so... it's something." Season's Pass 2 comes along, with more characters... but by this point, I'd pretty much resigned I wasn't going to get the character. So I started thinking up other characters that could potentially have better odds, that I also liked: Shantae, Rayman, Eggman/Robotnik... but also kept some other "random" ones just in case. So... Rex/Pyra, 2B... you know, the more unlikely characters. Then this happens, and it's like trying to convince yourself it's not real, while also getting hype. All I can say otherwise, is that the Sakurai Presents livestream, I hope he answers some questions... like... what took so long?
I can answer that for you. Decisions in game development have to be made and planned LONG in advance. You have to remember that the fighters for FP1 were decided on before the base game was even finished. Sakurai even said during the Rex Mii Costume reveal that he badly wanted to put Rex in the game (he LOVES XBC 2), but couldn't since Xenoblade Chronicles 2 wasn't far enough in development compared to Smash Ultimate at the time. If you look at the content in FP2 so far: Min Min, Steve, Sephiroth, and now Pyra/Mythra...it all seems to be content that Sakurai *wanted* to include in the base game, but couldn't due to scheduling conflicts or difficulties in rights negotiations (Steve took five years of talks just to get him into Smash, for example). This pretty much explains why it took so long to get Pyra/Mythra in the game.

Luckily, it seemed they realized how much of a demand there was for certain characters, and decided to go ahead with the 2nd pass. Hell, I'm pretty sure Sakurai was the one who figured it was worth doing, and vetoed to make it happen. Afterall, there might never be another opportunity to get such a crazy roster into the game, so why not go all out now?
5:10 It's always funny when people think a character being announce disconfirms unrelated characters. When Steve came out I watched someone say "we could have gotten Sephiroth instead". So it's funny that repeated here.
I almost feel bad for Rex. He is a Mii fighter, appears only in the final smash, his Blades are the character, his house is the stage, and we his biggest supporters turned on him with a, "Fuck off Rex it's Pyra time!"
Dude, I was on the same journey for the past 3-4 years. I was also upset at Pirahna Plant getting in before Rex and Pyra. So happy to finally have a real main.
I cried like a Baby when I saw this trailer. There were just a few times in live when I was this happy. Xenoblade ist just the best Gaming Franchise out there.
I can’t get over how well drifting souls goes with those character reveals, like the intro goes into the fiery smash logo, the second verse starting is when joker throws the envelope, and the finale is sephiroth being a badass
I’m right there with you, every step of the way. I don’t play a lot of non-Nintendo games because I just can’t afford to, so seeing the 1st fighter’s pass get dominated by 3rd party characters I had no connection to was demoralizing. So much so, that I told myself not to spend money on the 2nd fighter’s pass until I felt it was worth it. Steve and Sephiroth were great, but I didn’t have that special connection to them so I was starting to lose hope again. It was a very emotional moment to finally, after 3 years, to see a character I desperately wanted in the game and exactly, to the smallest detail, how I wanted to see them.
I’ve never touched Xenoblade Chronicles in my life, but I sincerely hope that the song in the 1st half of this video comes with this new duo of fighters.
to be honest, Byleth hyped me so much, after all if HE can get into smash Rex absolutely could have a chance. I was also hyped because Byleth was one of my wanted characters but still.

This was the exact journey I went on for Rex in Smash. A long haul of pain and suffering, but a glorious light at the end of the tunnel.
