I knew these would sell out fast. I placed a pre-order for 14 cars and have multiple road names. I have a lot from the very first run years ago. I’ve noticed the CSX is Gray in the first run and White in the second run. I wanted to do a BNSF Auto-Max train and now I have a total of 23 Auto-Max cars. Still waiting on the KCS anniversary, BNSF and AOK models with the slanted/etched roof tops.
Very cool car! I have a BNSF one from a run several years ago and it's great! The extra drawbar allows the car to negotiate 22 inch curves (the car as assembled has a 28 inch minimum radius) unfortunately, the longer drawbar makes the car look very prototypical when negotiating tight curves. Also, it's a good idea to swap out the McHenry couplers for Kadees as the plastic McHenry couplers can have reliability issues.
Glad you finally got more of these. Articulated racks are very interesting.

Change out the McHenry couplers for Kadee number 5 you'll be glad that you did.

I see these all the time in one of the railyards near my ranch. They are the Kansas city ones.
I found the couplers are a bit high on my model as well. Overall very nice cars.

I believe the drawbar is for connecting multiple unit together without having to us couplers, that's how I have mine connected.

"ATHEARN parts is very responsive and gets you what you need". Laughable. I bought 8 of their SD60M's and couldn't get me a missing electrical cabinet for one. They don't treat us customers all the same.

I think individual experience with athearn customer service vary from person to person...
this was my last experience with Athearn parts. I hear due to their move, it has all but stopped any sort of parts delivery.
