  • I don't really know what I made here. Hope u like it :)
    But I do know I made this for Buffer Film Fest 2023 and it's always a ton of fun to be a part of that. Thanks Buffer!
    Additional Animation:
    Matthew Lei ‪@lei_doodles‬
    Understimulated into boredom or overstimulated to a point where you can't focus- ADHD makes conversations tricky. I tried to put my own thoughts under the microscope to help others understand why I can never finish a story and how I can't remember things we talked about 5 minutes ago.
    This was made for Buffer Film Festival 2023. Thank you to the wonderful people at Buffer for everything :)

      proper social educate is to pause in between thoughts in order to give the other people in the conversation a chance to speak.
      Like, obviously, that's the best way to have a conversation. The alternative is someone sitting and listening to a monologue.

    I frequently experience the “no, I swear that your work story reminding me of an iguana fact makes perfect sense” thing. There was a whole mental odyssey of connections I’ve gone through that the other person just wasn’t aware of, so it seems completely out of nowhere.

    This is probably the best representation of adhd in media I have seen. It avoids the trope of audio compiling a bunch of random whining noises, and actually, quite originally explains the process of your adhd brain trying to fix itself from beings sidetracked whiles getting sidetracked in a weird meta way. It shows that you’re aware but it’s hard to fix because it’s your brain itself that is flawed. And fills in the much lacking void in most videos on the topic.

    It's so funny cause I've seen people with ADHD do the opposite of this to.o. One example off the top of my head is when a neurotypical asked them how their day had been going and they interpreted that to mean that the other genuinely cared about how they were feeling, so they went into a long rant about how they were really sad recently for several reasons and then the other person clarified that they just wanted a simple yes or no.

    • @mystic_atlas
      @mystic_atlas 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Yeah, as someone who is neurodivergent I do the tangent kind of response 'cause I think they actually want to know, I've only ever gotten the yes or no thing from neurotypical people so it was interesting to see some neurodivergent people also feel like that-

    • @GuiriTV
      @GuiriTV 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      It depends, because as someone with ADD, I give "yes or no" answers to people I have no interest in talking to. If I have interest in talking to them, Im open and honest. Plus, saying they only wanted a "yes or no" despite sharing their struggles is kinda rude... Ask and you shall receive.

      That helps me understand a lot! Thank you! :D

    As an autistic person, I can relate to this (this is why it’s sometimes stressful for me to socialise and/or I can’t always concentrate on important stuff). Sometimes I just have too many thoughts in my head and things get too overwhelming to the point where it feels like my head could explode, or it’s sometimes the other way round and I have ideas about what I want to say but either I struggle to get them across properly or I’m scared I’ll dominate a conversation with stuff only I’m interested in without considering others.

Only, instead of many different yellow thoughts, it's one yellow thought constantly and infinitely cloning itself until the glass breaks.

      Just a heads up, you shouldn't self diagnose yourself, I'll give you this one since ADHD is very easy and common to self diagnose because of how common it is and easy it is to spot but at the same time self diagnosing shows a lack of respect for people who are actually diagnosed as you could just be fidgety, naturally fast thinking or just younger than 16 lol, and not fully understand what people with the actual illness go through on a daily. ADHD is a lot more than what's portrayed in this video though, no mental illness should be seen as just "quirky" yet that's what I've noticed a lot of self diagnosers do - they claim to have something in which they clearly don't and treat it like a personality trait and that their just so "quirky and different" E.G you cant diagnose yourself with bi-polar without seeing a professional as that's just very disrespectful "my mental illness is not your sweater to wear" stuff like that, and you likely don't have it. Personally I have all been diagnosed with both of these things so I'm just a bundle of "fun"
