I respected Patty Duke so much for being courageous enough to tell her story. I remember when I was a little girl, my dad was diagnosed with manic depression. It affected the general mood of the whole family really. One could just see the devastation and fears in both my parents' faces. When my mom found Patty's book, there was a shimmer of hope in her eyes. Her hope transferred to my dad, I think, and helped us all remember that, in time, it would get better. And it did.
Thank you Patty Duke. Your book helped me so much. Knowing that I wasn't alone. Knowing that it was just a disease - saved my life.

manic-depression was a more descriptive name then bi-polar.
The interviewer has good questions but man, I wish he had let her fully answer them
