Karzai's War - Afghanistan

    Hamid Karzai's early attempts to restore security in Afghanistan are being hampered by the Taliban, who are using Pakistan as a base to launch further attacks.
    In post-Taliban Afghanistan, politics remains a deadly business. The vice president and a cabinet minister have been murdered and Karzai himself narrowly escaped assassination. The most serious threat comes from a re-invigorated Taliban. They are distancing themselves from Al Qaeda and allying themselves with disgruntled warlords. Ahmed Rashid, one of the world's leading analysts of the Taliban, believes they are being covertly assisted by Pakistan: "The intelligence agencies have given freedom of movement and freedom of access across the border to the Taliban." In the madrasses of North West Pakistan, new Taliban graduates are still preparing to fight the Americans. The Taliban are remarkably well equipped with surface-to-air missiles, body armour and night-vision equipment. Another problem is that US officers simply don't trust the Afghan army or pro-Karzai militia. "A lot of the times you don't know who your friend is and who your foe is," complains Captain Mike Gonzales. Ordinary Afghans have seen little evidence of the $5 billion aid promised and are unlikely to see much reconstruction while the country remains so unstable. If the issue of security is not addressed soon, experts like Rashid predict that the situation will only get worse.

      I'm sure many Pakistanis asked the same of Afghans when they refused to recognize their nation's sovereignty in 1947, even when India did. Why not teach that part of history too? The Afghan invasion of Bajaur and whatnot? The Afghans aren't helpless victims. They deposed their king and invited in the Soviets, which started this whole mess.

    It's to solutions for the ending of war in Afghanistan.
    1. Take out/eliminate the ISI, which is only posible by the USA.
    2. cut all contacts with Pakistan diplomatically, economically, people to people contacts and build a 50 meters high fans/ wall with security cameras along the border.

    something is very wrong with you. like a stubborn child you want to discuss the bihari issue on a pak afghan forum , fine. Biharis are not the original inhabitants of pakistan. at the time of partition muslims living closer to the western wing migrated to west pakistan and muslims living closer to the eastern wing migrated to east pakistan( modern day bangladesh )the muslims migrating to east pak included biharis.

      Even Ayub, a bigger secularist than Musharraf, was better. He brought in investment and developed the country. Meanwhile, Musharraf turned on Pashtun Muslims, including our own Waziri civilians, and now 20 years later we have to deal with the annoying TTP.

      Yes. A joint Soviet-Indian invasion of Pakistan was a real possibility. The Soviets even violated our Pakistani airspace and started sending over aircraft, some of which intended to target Afghan refugee camps. Pakistan retaliated by shooting some jets down.

    • @greeneast
      @greeneast 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-qm7hq1de9i Complete Bullshit, Russia and Pakistan were not enemy. General Zia was killed by within Pakistani establishment and American CIA. War is War but it was over and Pakistan was in service of Americans. Soviet Union and Pakistan were allies under Military rule, Bhutto and with the Russian Federation. Pakistan's only enemies were since inception, the United States and India. There is no sense in outlining any other party as Pakistan's enemy.
