A lot of people aren’t realizing a couple things. He has a lot of pressure on him going into this draft and being the possible new face of the SJS. Him and Will have never played together before but they know and respect each other. I think he will like being a shark and will get behind the rebuild 100%. Last thing is he’s also going into the draft the next year right after Bedard which is also a LOT of pressure. He will hold his own and make a great NHL player.

Honestly, his interview is just like Bedards. Alot is being put on these young players and they know they have the whole league looking at them. He wants to be a shark and he wants to bring the sharks to glory.

Stoked for this kid to be able to grow with the sharks rebuild. He's got the right mentality and the highest floor of a prospect I've seen in a while(minus Bedard and McDavid obviously)

I took two things away from this :
1) There is a very real possibility that Macklin goes back to B.U. for a second year.
2) Macklin and Will have zero off-ice relationshiop LOL. Hopefully this rivalry goes away when they are both playing for the Sharks. We need them to get along and play well together.

I don't know about point 2. Sure they were rivals but both are good people and being on the same team and being both the youngest guys on the team will bond them early. At the end of the day it's they're just formal rivals in college. No serious beef there lol.

Not sure I agree.
He tends to refer to college hockey as the past and not the present. “The coaches *were* great”. “The school stuff *was* a bonus”. “I *loved my year* of college”. If he really was thinking of going to college for another year I would imagine he’d keep it more present, especially when talking about the academic side.
And for the second point I think thats just natural. They haven’t met yet and only know each other as opponents. Once they’re in the same locker room and get to know each other outside of hockey it’ll change.

Am i the only one (slightly) genuinely concerned that he kind of gives off an "i dont wanna play for the sharks" kind of vibe? I get that maybe im reading too much into his responses and such, but like he seems to think the sharks aren't gonna choose him 1st overall

He hasn’t been selected yet, it’s obviously gonna happen, but it would not be a good look for him to do anything other than playing dumb. It’s just way too cocky to say out loud you’re gonna get taken 1st overall
That is why. Trust me, him and his whole family are thrilled to be going to the Sharks organization who are ran by basically a bunch of former BU players like him but also back to the Bay Area where his family lives

He knows he will look like an arrogant asshole if he just assumes he's going #1 no matter what. The Sharks haven't drafted him yet, so he needs to speak in that way. Bedard did the same thing saying things like "whoever drafts me" even though it was obvious Chicago was going to take him at #1.
