This music, the kits, the players, the commentary.
These were the days.
Always
What a golden era of life this was
probably the best saturday morning football magazine show ever...
Maybe in the UK. The best one was on the Italian RAI television. It's an Italian BBC. I am not sure, was it Domenica Sportiva or something like that. Was a teenager and it was the best football show for the best football league (90s Serie A) ever, here in the region of southern Europe.
They used to air a similar program here in Canada Saturday mornings before the games called premier League world I believe, it was phenomenal as well
Can’t get enough of these football Italia days 👌🏻
It's my ringtone 😏
Seriously
As a child of the 90s, I miss this show so much
The good old days used to watch this on Channel 4 as a kid
For those precious 48 minutes I went back to 1997 and became the 13yr old boy I was back then. I loved watching this growing up. Thank you for the memories.
Ah man, this takes me back. Good times
Loved watching the Italian football every Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon back in the day . Great memories
Please bring back the 90s
Man, that theme tune takes me back to saturday and Sunday afternoons as a kid. Watching Footbal Italia on channel 4 was the best. GOLAZO!!!
What this shows is just how much football has changed over the years...for the worse.
It doesn't matter that the best league was then Serie A...or that it became Primera Liga and now the Premier League.
What the biggest issue is that over that period the number of 'world class' players produced by the game has decreased phenomenally.
Look at the Italian league back then...Juve, Milan, Inter, Lazio, Roma...and even Parma and Fiorentina...all had legendary players.
When the Primera Liga took over, Barca and Real had legends obviously...but so did ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal...and Bayern as well.
Now while Man City may have great players...are they legends in the making?
Real may have a couple...but otherwise there are really no other clubs (maybe Bayern and Barca) that have players that are world beaters.
And that is why people still follow CR7 and Messi...because there is nothing approaching them in the major leagues.
Totally agree with this. The talent pool of skilful and quality players has reduced substantially. The generation born in the 90's and 00's are just not as interested in sport or as dedicated as those that came before them.
These are fantastic. I watch these has comfort tv just like I used to all those year ago.
Ahhh these were days channel 4 Sunday morning highlights then full match in the afternoon magical
Wrong day
The best football days of my lifetime 💜 ⚽ stil to this day have my fiorentina top with rui Costa on the back 🔥
Luther saying how it would be a disaster if Italy didn’t qualify for the WC, they’ve missed the last two (with a Euro sandwiched in to be fair) and it still feels incomprehensible. Definitely some sort of glitch in the matrix…
I miss these times
One of THE BEST FOOTBALL SHOWS EVER!
Absolute legend. Thanks so much for uploading 👏
I loved Italian football back in the 80’s and 90’s.
Amazing, please upload more from seasons 98/99 and 99/2000
This is fantastic. Thank you so so much.
nice episode and hope we ll back 1993 94 season again
7:40 Bryan Ferry looks pleased with that goal 🤣
This was so good I’ve watched it twice.
Wow thats a defensive selection from Maldini Sr. Proper 5 defenders across the back. When I first revisited this I presumed it was in the period Del Piero was out with a broken leg...I can't believe you would select both Ravenelli&Casiraghi with a young pre injured Del Piero available. I think Zola, Baggio, Chiesa or Signori were all having decent seasons too.
Football Italia is the reason why I’ve always had a soft spot for the Azzurri.
Amazing channel. Brings back so many memories
Thank you so much for uploading these!
Used to love Sundays watching C4 and Gazetta Italia
Thank you
0:37. A funny way to start the show.
Dunno about anyone else, but at 42 every day I’m nostalgic about something. Guess today it’s this!
Saturday mornings. Up at 0800. Wash. Run to my childhood best mates house. Turn on C4. Watch this. Transworld Sport. Go play football. Gladiators. Perv on Jet. Noel’s House Party. MOTD. Saturday night graveyard shift movie. Bed.
Give my kidneys to go back!
My surname sounds like a certain Roman team often confused with what they are saying at the end of the opening. It was sometimes my nickname at school. I became an Italophile so much thanks to this show I bought the blue shirt for the 98 world cup.
The music used in this program is crazy
As a child I always thought the chant at the end of the theme tune was: GOAL LAZIO, I was an adult when I finally realised what was been chanted was "Golazo" 😅
Same 😂
For years I told people it was golazo - which means what an amazing goal. But then I heard Steve De Berry who'd produced the music for the show say he'd wanted it to sound like 'go Lazio' because of Paul Gascoigne presenting it and so had added a twist to the soundbite. It became the signature sound of Italian football for a generation of English fans. It also took me more than a season to realise why the show was called 'Gazzetta', and it was again because of Gazza.
Who else is here for the escapism…from this awful dystopic existence?
The only other journalist on the same level as James Richardson is Tim Vickery
You joking right? What about Alex Scott?
Those were the days every Saturday morning football Italia on channel 4
I’m here just for the intro
I remember this commentary ,
The state of that pitch in the Italy - Russia game 🤣
Harsh on Gigi to miss France 98. Baggio was great though
Saturday mornings eating Scampi’n’Lemon Nik-Naks, fantastic days.
What's the song in the into ?
Tnt sports
I totally forgot about Ibrahim Ba. He was rapid!
Sheer quality
The era when match fixing and doping in Italian football was at its worst and Juve was at the centre of much of it, but far from alone.
That's the worst spag boll I've ever seen 😅
