Nice to see a fairly modern twin-stick truck where the second lever isn't hooked up to an air valve on a 13 or 18 speed. Also, nice to see a man that knows how to shift one of those properly. Back in the early 70s, I cut my teeth on a B61 Mack with a Thermodyne diesel and a 15-speed twin stick Triplex. To this day it is still the most fun I had driving. The company upgraded me to a RL700 long-nosed Mack with an 8V71T Detroit and a 10-speed Roadranger. My first thought was that this is a transmission for lazy drivers lol
Yeah, well any transmission that requires me to take both hands off the wheel to shift it is a POS set-up. It might be cool 50 years ago or whatever, but this ain’t 50 years ago. Here’s my suggestion: make the shift to modern day equipment that doesn’t require two hands to shift.
@Mike-hb4pc you don't need to take both hands to shift. This guy is just showing off. Your supposed to make the big jump up with the main box and then shift the brownie down. The guy who taught me would hit me with a flapjack if I tried this.
yes i always do find it funny reading the comments sections of youtube videos and you see idiots who got there CDL and have driven a manual truck for like 5 hours then hope in a auto that they have driven for the past 5 years but still come on here and backseat drive from the comments section telling old school truckers how to drive
thats not a 5x4. that's one of those truck stop 2 stick splitter kits. The right stick is just an open pattern hi/lo range - the side button on an 18 spd
To monitor truck. Gauges were used before computers. Computers and automatic transmissions made it so any idiot can drive them. That's why there are so many idiot truck drivers out there.
yeah those old trucks sound good but they dont get out of their own way even empty. Thats the reason for all those gears. Seriously. Even todays small 11 liter motors put out more power and torque than the biggest motors back then. Only need 8 forward gears
I liked the 4th to 6th split with the left hand - nicely done👌
Retired truck driver thanks for the smiles, im gonna be smiling all day🎉
Awesome stick work, real smooth

That shifting was absolutely mint

Oh you wouldn't like a truly modern truck then. It's got cameras watching you and shifts gear by itself!
Good job here! Loved my k model cummins. This is a lost art right here, most do not know what is even going on with the Stixs.
Just a air splitter for his hi low right? 😏

That sends chills up and down my spine I mean you can just hear the raw power of that 1150 cubes
And we currently have drivers that don't know what that 3rd pedal is for...
That’s some smooth shifting.
A big motor and a set of sticks 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sweet ride! Love the shifting of so many gears. I absolutely love that sound. 😲😳😃!!!
i drove 5x4 for many years, before internet lessons. good see you splitting the main gear only twice until highway speed.

I had 1977 Pete 1693/425 cat fuel turned up 5x4 it would pull. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

@@iBackshift sorry son, that's the real deal.
@iBackshift
You're correct, it's not a 5x4.... it's a 6x4. The poser kit second shifter only moves forward/backward 😂
Love the sound.. miss driving so much... God Bless..
When trucks where trucks, and men where men
Na this is a custom job. Totally unnecessary 😂 The single stick range/splitter was invented for a reason.
Shutup
No this is a true twin stick 5&4 or 6&4 or so on
@@Big-Show1 factory original 6x4. Still matching numbers on both boxes when I took this.
------And sheep were scared!
Sounds so good, sounds just like my turned up Cummins Big Cam❤
amazing job with those twin sticks
lol I came and looked at your neighbours w900. Saw you driving that Pete. Very cool truck.
Thank you!
Very nice shifting! That KTA sure does sound good! 👍
Straight artistry there my friends
My dad drove a 5x4 Spicer. But never used his left hand. I’m sure there are those who prefer that method, but it isn’t necessary at all.
That thing sounds beautiful 😍
I drove one in early 90s they were bad ass
OOOOOWEEEEE I gotta see more of this action!!
Still want to learn how to drive one
Nothing to it but time in the saddle, you’ll be an old pro before you know it
The guy who invented this type of exchange was a juggler or liked to play arcade games.
Very nice
That's a Real Cummins motor...........Look's like you have a Double Over setup
Like a 1950,s Leyland Beaver.
Needa 4 year degree to shift that beast.
Nice!
Awesome
Why are there 5000 gauges and 2 gear sticks ?
Sounds Fkin awesome 💪🏼 💨

Idiots don't know what they see on gauges anyway. @@SamMaass-s5h
Yup. 👌
where did you get the chrome stick's from? looking to buy a factory width+ height chrome shifter stick and i cant find anything
Probably best off to make one these days. Those were in the truck when I bought it so I couldn't tell you unfortunately.
They were an option when ordering the truck
Go to wrecking yard
Or have you're chromed
Does she ever sound sweet.
Work it work it owwwwwn it
Can't b reaching thru the wheel
Why?
Sorry but 5/4 is ridiculously stupid
How so?
If you knew how it work you wouldn't say that never drove a twin but I know how it works and why it would be really useful
Its ancient technology
@@bradsegee1069 That works!!.
Nice job Slick👊
Thanks 👍
Whole lot easier than a B81 I started with 😂👊
Sounds like your empty

@@mikegrazio5376its not a race buddy
@@mikegrazio5376I'll gladly put my KTTA up against anything new today. There is no comparison to old big blocks to today's small over the road trucks
