That time where McFly wasn't active was hard as a huge fan. I follow the boys on everything and so seeing them doing their own projects and following all that was interesting but at the same time it was just like something was missing. They don't owe us anything and it's all that stuff about parasocial relationships, but it really made me realise just how much this band meant to me. Growing up loving their music and just them. The things they've shared about their struggles, whether as a whole or individually is heartbreaking. Especially all the mental health stuff. I'm so grateful that they are back doing what they love. I'm glad to see people like you reacting to them, getting to see how great these guys are!
I've watched this so many times and it still makes me cry, haha. Dougie really went through a lot. Having his dad walk out on his family, joining a band at 15, addiction, etc. He also tried taking his own life at one point (it's in their book.) He was extremely shy and quiet in the beginning of McFly, and when there are other "big" personalities in the band, I think it can definitely be hard to speak up and make yourself be heard - especially if you're not good at confrontation. Over the years he's definitely opened up a lot more, but he's not the most talkative of the 4 (unless it's on stage during a gig, he's really in his element there.) I think he's extremely reflective and thinks a lot about things, and that's why he can seem really quiet and often has that same facial expression in interviews and stuff. When it's just McFly messing about he's a lot more "free". This program really shows how important communicating is in all types of relationships.
But it was crazy while they were away. After mcbusted, they just disappeared and at first no one thought anything about it. McFly just taking some time off, but as time went by, we all began to wonder what was going on. I remember all the comments and post by so many, asking where they were. Tom had his TH-cam channel posting videos and Danny had his. I, like most, it crossed my mind they weren’t coming back. Of course we had no idea what was happening behind the scenes. I still have never seen them live. Living in Washington state I wonder if I ever will. I know if they ever came over here, I’d go, no matter what state it is, I’d go.
thank you so much for this! it's not really a full story cause they did do the anthology tour after the mcbusted shows so i'm assuming the stress of that contributed to some issues within the band, but anyway thanks for being so understanding of all of them. cause dougie did have a right to a break, danny did have a right to make music when the band wasn't there etc, they're just people trying to get on with their lives. it's a nice doc, i feel like it left out a lot but still, a good summary of what happened (also i love when a brit watches mcfly cause finally i dont have to see someone being confused by danny's accent, its not that difficult to understand 🤣)
I always found it strange how even in interviews at this time they acted like the Anthology tour never happened. They kept talking about how they’d been away for years and years, and I just remember thinking “I’m sure I saw you live just a couple of years ago 🤔”
@@km692 maybe they still have ptsd from having to learn 60+ songs 🤣 but seriously, not only did they do anthology at the end of 2016, i vividly remember them going on a writing trip in early 2017, but the doc suggests that their last writing trip was before mcbusted and after mcbusted they just went their separate ways, which isn't true. oh well
Thank you for your reaction Lee. You may think this a strange comparison , but McFly and Dimash. I mean, the fact that they are happy in their work is that they make the music they want to and it's not all about monetary gain. Also, they totally appreciate their family, friends and fan base. Watch both these artists every day. I love them both.
Good one. A bit similar to the Parkway Drive documentary. They couldn't even talk to eachother at one point. Then they got some counciling and are now fine again. Another great documentary 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Copyright blocked the sound on that part as well as a couple of others, it was out of my control
@imrmediagaming2479 such a shame. Would have loved to see your reaction to that performance. Danny's voice wow
