I was also a devout Baptist minister, graduated with honors from a Bible college, etc. When I finally realized I was mistaken about pretty much everything, it shattered me. And I knew I'd be losing my family (who I was VERY close to and who are still fundamentalist Baptists), along with every friend I ever had. It's the last thing I wanted, but I had to live an honest life. Luckily my family didn't completely cut me out, but it's never really the same.
If you're family are going to treat you a certain way because of something you believe or lack belief in you probably don't want them in your life. I'm an Atheist married to a Lutheran Pastors daughter, I've always been an Atheist and it's never been an issue. I met my wife when I was 17 she was 15, had our first son at 17 and 19, now young grandparents
@crazyprayingmantis5596 I'm trying to wrap my brain around wanting to be a teenage parent. Then being proud that your children are also young breeders. That is wild to me. 😮
@@Childfree334 I didn't want to be a teenage parent, but I was, and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. My son wasn't as young as I was, and absolutely I'm proud of him, he's an amazing father.
I was raised in the United Pentecostal Church from birth and believed in it until I grew in to critical thinking. The house of cards collapsed for me starting with their “holiness” standards. I was determined not to raise my daughter in that nonsense. I’ve been in and out of therapy the rest of my life so far to heal from the emotional damage caused by that denomination. I started deconstructing probably 30 years ago but in my search for peace in my life, I began listening to different videos and reading books and began deconvertion. These types of videos are so helpful to me and my journey for truth. Maybe there was always a seed of disbelief but stayed because of the fear that was indoctrinated in my mind. I am so thankful people like Derrick provide so much information and research. Not everyone has the ability to accept truth or face the possibility that humans are here alone.
The part where he said how can you wait 2,000 years, is such a genius statement, it’s something I thought when I was a Christian for 26 years and started nearing towards my leaving of Christianity. You just validated everything I knew was happening when I believed, AMAZING thank you Tristan for your knowledgeable words
@@StacyK1996 Hi Stacy, you have to also consider the fact that it is also 2000 years and more that Jesus along with the Holy bible with the Ten Commandments has specified to stop behaving like savages towards each other and one another. We the majority of men and women of this world of ours have been continuously refusing to listen to the words of our lord God Jesus and this is why Crime and brutality continues to exist!! Men and women of this world of ours are to blame for the suffering of our children and this includes me and you for accepting the brutality to continue. Don’t blame or belittle Jesus for being a failure, we are the failure!! We are to blame for the horrors of this world!! We choose not to listen and invite the horrors onto our children!! I hope that more people instead of ridiculing Jesus to at least read the holy bible and New Testament along with spreading the peace and love of Jesus when they can, so to make this a heavenly safe world as Jesus is asking of us. ❤️🙏❤️bless you
I am part of the audience that had not heard a lot of terms. Thanks for being a good interviewer and make smart pauses that progressed the conversation. Tristan was class
It’s validating to know I was not crazy in my analytical, logical reasoning all along! Thank you for validating the rest of us who have not been validated.
When you were a believer what did you think when you read "don't lean on you own understanding?" Because that would have been enough for me, I would never believe something that told me to not use my brain.
I enjoy this channel and a bunch of conservative channels. I wonder how the latter would react to the videos that Mythvision makes. I’d have no idea how to answer this if I were Christian.
- Isn't it 'weird' your mom got so scared and this is not unusual at all. Shows what this book is, what Christianity is. It is insane, everyone is so scared because the whole "faith" is based on and built up with fear since children were babies.
There is no greater hypocrisy in this world then a rich Christian minister. I would be surprised if such a person knew anything at all about Jesus. They know 3 things: conformity, how to look good in a suit, and how to roll around on the floor.
One of the most powerful sentences that helped me deconstruct 40 years ago was “The one who cured the blind man is able to cure blindness - but doesn’t”
If you say the evil we see in the world serves the "greater purpose" of an omni-benevolent deity, then that evil is good. Once you think like that, you are denying the existence of evil: 🙈🙉 How vile! 🤢
I find it fascinating that people who are so rational and intelligent were ever "on fire" for Jesus. I was taken to church my whole childhood, but I never truly believed. I was skeptical even as a child. Most religious people, I feel, only remain religious throughout their life, by never really investigating their religion. It cannot be an intellectual exercise, only a cultural one.
I was one of those. I didn’t really apply my critical thinking to my belief in god. I just assumed it based on everyone in my life accepting it. I caught fire for god so to speak, around 19. I went with friends witnessing to people. Sometimes they presented difficult challenges. I assumed my faith to be true so I knew there were good answers for their questions. If only I knew the Bible better. I started in apologetics. Some of their contentions had very reasonable rebuttals I came to learn. Some did not. This presented bit of a crisis. But i always stamped out those concerns, because of my one trump card. The resurrection. I firmly believed the evidence for the resurrection was so strong that it resolved all other concerns. Errors in the Bible? Resurrection is true so somehow it works out. Contradictions? Somehow it all works out since I know the resurrection is true. God legitimatizing slavery? Resurrection. Prayer doesn’t work? Resurrection. Eventually I very very slowly and stubbornly began to recognize the validity of the concerns.
Grew up in a strict Southern Church of G, Pentacostal Grand Father Pastor, both sides of family. Never took. In 9th grade, my 1st term paper subject, HYPNOSIS! Understood it all!
Sometimes I think I had it bad as a kid because my church got all mad at me bringing Harry Potter to a church meeting, but then I remember other people grew up Pentecostal and I feel humbled 😆
Man, I love you guys! You’ve given me the answer I’ve been questioning for years: Where is the Jesus of the Bible I’ve been using to tell people about God? You covered everything in this TH-cam video. Keep it up, everyone! Maybe you are the young man God is using to help us Christians find the truth of what the Bible talks about.
Great insight! According to many Christians, Christ has been sitting stationary on a throne this entire time for the past 2,000 years. It's difficult to morally and ethically accept this. Kind regards
Religion, like government doesn’t want people to think that we have one bite at the apple of life, because perhaps if we didn’t they wouldn’t be able to kick the can down the road on so many important issues.
Tristan is your BEST guest yet! I love all of his validating talking points on why Christianity CANT be trusted. I 100 % resonate. Great job both of you 👏
I was raised in a very mild type of Catholicism, quite common in the 70s, after Vatican II. So, no trauma. My rational mind is atheist but I have feel so many peculiar vibes in many situations, something hard to explain, that lead me to believe in a Christic Energy or something, in a non dogmatic, non judgemental, very personal way. Still remain in the Church taking it easy. At the end of the day, personal experience is everything.
I’d love an anthology of the myth’s Derek! I was just reminded of Agamemnon’s sacrifice of Iphigenia to appease Artemis to get the winds for the Greek ships to sail to Troy!
I deconverted in my 60s, now 72. Always a realist and truth seeker my doubts started in my 20s and grew so slowly that leaving religion (even with my dad and brother both pastors) was a painless and natural process. It has been a disappointment none of my family are the least bit curious about my renouncement of the fairytale. 🤷🏼♀️
i never was a preterist in my christian days but man i can still relate how it felt at the climax when you genuinely admit it’s probably not true. really good interview.
Derek, when you mentioned the book you intent to write, i started thinking about titles and thought about using something like: "Myths within Myths: the stories that informed the writers of the bible"
I’ve brought this up in other Mythvision videos, but I pointed out in a Catholic video that if God could make people born without sin like Mary then it’s reprehensible he doesn’t. I was told that original sin is a just consequence for Adam and Eve’s mistake.
The idea of writing a book listing all the tropes the bible stories come from is good, but Robert M Price has done that. His series of books, Holy Fable, go through each passage of the bible investigating its source and giving further commentary. I’ve been working through it 15-20 mins a day, Bible open in front of me for over a year now, finished the Old Testament and now up to Luke. I make notes in my bible as to the outside sources. Price actually quotes large translated passages right in his books - and right next to the bible passage so you can see their remarkable similarities and be certain they were copied. Price’s layout is clunky and a bit dated, a clear modern looking version with contents would be handy, but I just thought readers may like to know it has actually been done. It’s a great resource. Hard work- real study- but well worth it.
Man, can I relate to this conversation. I left the Catholic Church because the priests still defend and excuse pedophile priests. They live in a closed world of misinformation and delusion. I was told by a priest that what a pedophile priest had done was "nothing", so I walked out. 🙏🏽🧘
@ Do not mourn for me. Mourn for the millions of innocent suffering children who are being sex trafficked, molested, murdered & dying of starvation (while Christ sits on the throne and watches) Kind regards
I am sorry for whatever abuse you went through as a child, but these psychological conditions can be changed over time, they aren't set in stone and unchangable.
I still respect the apostolics for their faith. Of course there are good and bad apples in the mix. I'm glad you are no longer feeling bound by religiosity and I wish you happiness in this life. Kind regards
Derek, always ask your guests to use headphones with a built-in mic (wired or BT) if their laptop or phone doesn't have a better mic. I’m having to raise and lower the volume, lol.
Tristan is a wonderful guest and an articulate thinker! Two questions: 1. Do you think Don Preston lost the debate to Richard Carrier?? As someone with "no dog in the fight," it looked like Preston was the clear winner of that debate. 2. The problem of evil is not answered satisfactorily by religion. But...is the materialist answer better? (Evil as "novelty in nature," etc.)??
Hi! I don't want to insult you and I understand why you would ask the question, yet I want to share a perspective with you: The "winner" of a debate can be seen as the person whose followers/fans walk away from the experience with their beliefs/ worldview reaffirmed/vindicated. In light of this, it's often the case that both participants are the "winner." Good health to you! ❤
I personally believe the debate was one of a cordial discussion. I think Don performed well. I do beleive however, Don lost the debate when I asked the superchat question where Don stated the saints "Danced in the Streets" in 70 A.D. during the time when women and children were being tortured for 5 months. It cost me thousands of dollars and it was worth every cent. I am hoping Don will be a good sport and debate or have a live discussion with me in return for my favor. Kind regards
@@tulpas93 What a great and classy comment. Yes, as Paul Simon once sang, "A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest." I am not a full preterist or a mythicist, but do think Don Preston won that debate on most points. But your point is well-taken.
@@tulpas93 That is very true! Very well said. However, I think there are small inklings of people that judge debates fairly and they some debates have the power to change perspectives. Kind regards
I think I was lucky, I was raised in the Salvation Army church & Catholicism simultaneously. I know lol, but different sides of the family. So I never really acquired that heavy guilt from either one. As a young adult I was baptized Mormon & attended church briefly, then started studying. After 50+ years I’m still learning. Thank you!
@1:09:35 Thank you, Tristan, for being so direct and explicitly stating _exactly_ which evil/ suffering you're expecting to be addressed in a response to your question on the problem of evil/suffering. I firmly believe that this is _exactly_ what should be presented to every apologist who attempts to argue for your typical 'omnipotent, omniscient' creator god, that also includes the supposed property/ nature of being some variant of 'all good', or includes the notion that its every act is, definitionally, de facto one of 'moral perfection'. In no world would the concepts, notions, suggestion of, or inclusion of _any_ understood definitions of 'all loving', 'all good', or 'morally perfect' be used, suggested, implied, inferred, or even make sense in any god damned context, if used to describe the passive observation of children being literally tortured, not to mention if it is the case that the passive observer has the foreknowledge that the torture will occur _and_ the unfailing capacity to prevent it, nevermind immediately stop it upon its commencement. In NO way could such inaction be excused, or justified, AND be claimed to be 'good', 'loving' or 'morally virtuous', because those concepts, as understood by everyone who understands what they mean, are diametrically opposed. If reality supposedly exists as a result of the intentioned, informed, and purposeful creation by will of an 'all powerful', 'all knowing' creator, then the unmitigated torture and torment of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, (or even eventually billions throughout humanity's time, from its start to eventual end) of trafficked children at the hands of sadists, is literally, demonstrably, irreconcilable, with *ANY* assertion that said creator is in any capacity 'all good', 'all loving', or 'morally perfect' as well. To attempt to argue otherwise, to try and 'well actually' and excuse, to special plead, and attempt to gaslight, just to justify continuing to assert an 'all good' nature for your omnipotent, omniscient creator, requires you to be as morally bankrupt as you are intellectually dishonest. Should you make such an attempt it can be taken as evidence that you clearly do not have even the slightest understanding of what is meant by *any* of the terms used when intellectually honest, empathy capable, emotionally mature adults discuss or debate the existence and nature of morality, or the existence and nature of moral virtues and ethical behaviors. You've forfeited any right to expect people to take you seriously, or view you as honest.
Tristan said he now sides with the Atheists, rather than that he is an atheist. If we do enough study of the origin of religions and religious ideas, and the nature of human beings and the universe we can be certain that ideas like the existence of souls, life after death, gods, supernatural beings etc have no evidential basis in reality. It takes time to reconstruct our worldview to exclude the ideas we absorbed from our cultures and religious backgrounds and experiences. But we can come to feel comfortable knowing we live in a world in which humans evolved, and developed supernatural ideas that don’t stand up to scrutiny and to the available evidence.
But there's OBEs where people see something somewhere like on a roof and when they're back in body sure enough there was something on the roof. Also not the same but similar to remote viewing. Or getting messages in dreams that turn out to be true. And there's much more.
@ If you take a deeper look at the evidence for OBE’s providing information that could not come from within the persons brain, or by coincidental occurrence, you might find that topic less convincing. There are people who have claimed OBEs who have later admitted to making them up. There are people who tell stories of OBEs to convince others of supernatural ideas. There are also plenty of people whose brains have generated very intense and seemingly realistic experiences when under near death conditions. These experiences often confirm for the person ideas about an afterlife that they had been previously exposed to. Eg Christian’s experiencing a presence that corresponded to their understanding of Jesus. Stories of non Christians experiencing Jesus tend to be less well verified by evidence.
I grew up with zero spiritual influence but I've had experiences since that made it quite obvious to me. I wouldn't be so certain about what you're saying. These ideas transcend time and cultures so there's something there. If you follow science and philosophy to it's furthest extent, you'll find yourself somewhere that is missing an underlying layer of knowledge. I'd argue it's a lot more important to look at the motifs that transcend all different beliefs rather than disproving these concepts just because you haven't experienced it. That is extremely far from certain
Derek mentioned the phrase that god is the “perfect father”. Pun intended, this is the perfect example of the Platonic Theory of Forms. The eternal realm where perfect geometry exists, versus the earthly realm where the geometry deviates; where colors aren’t the true colors; where the God of the eternal realm is good in juxtaposition to the god of the world. Christianity has so many Easter eggs hidden within.
24:19 _"...especially when you talk to other religions-like you said, the Mormons, you talk to Muslims-and here they are using the exact same special pleading, the exact same faith card..."_ I think, because I researched different religions (I still have Walter Martin's _The Kingdom of the Cults_ on my book shelf) and witnessed to people of varying faiths, this played a vital role in my deconversion from Christianity; seeing the special pleading arguments and the emotional belonging and purpose ties to any given religion. This idea of exact-same (special pleading and faith-card) and the varying beliefs within the umbrella of Christianity, caused me to question the validity of my own religion. So like Lee Strobel and J. Warner Wallace _supposedly_ did before me, I compartmentalized my faith (put my faith and biases aside for Sundays and prayers only), I put the Bible on trial and attempted to construct a religious system from the ground up by studying the Bible critically in its own right and on its own terms, comparing any given passage to the historical record and historical backdrop it was written in. Needless to say, I never arrived at PCA/CREC reformed Christianity, Judaism, or any subsect of Judeo-Christian belief at all. I arrived at deism (or a possible poly-deism due to Intelligent Design arguments), but then eventually I came to label myself an agnostic atheist.
The Jesus figure didn't die. He just took a three-day nap, which he knew was going to happen. Death doesn't have any meaning if you know it's not permanent. If the resurrection happened, it was a con. He fooled his followers to thinking he died for their sins. But he didn't really die because he came back three days later. So where's the sacrifice?
I wish right wing commentator Matt Walsh saw videos like this making concrete arguments against Xianity using the Bible itself. I wonder how he’d react.
For all the triggered christians do you all really believe the other 6 billion are going to hell for eternity and you just happened to have it figured out??
We havent figured it out we are following the only one who is worthy of it all and is the atonement for our sins. The wages of sin is death no way around it. Doesn't matter what your views are or mine.
I've been listening with interest to the deconstruction stories. They generally follow the same sequence... 1. Grow up in a Christian environment. 2. Usually, in teens or early 20's get "on fire" for the Lord. Possibly after an emotional experience of sorts. 3. Get into eschatology...dispensationalism with the pretrib rapture. 4. Mostly involved in charasmatic/NAR circles. 5. The problems and errors with this eschatology and the charismatic movement cause doubts and move towards a more preterist and sceptical outlook. 6. Begin questioning everything and ultimately deconstruct. I can relate to so much of it, but I have remained a Christian. There seem to be certain fundamental differences, though. Primarily that i had zero Christian upbringing and came to faith in Christ whilst resisting Christianity as much as possible. The radical and outright change within causes me to know that Christ is real, even if I have questions. This was 30 years ago, in my 20s. I will listen with interest in the future. I have also noticed that the general accusation against apologists being biased in their argument is evident the other way also. Thanks for the podcast
As to the discussion of the "unseen realm", I would add that in Dallas many years ago there was a new-age cult where the leader was shaking down followers by charging them to build imaginary dream homes on the Astral Plane for their use in the afterlife. It's good work if you can get it! I would direct you to the SubGeniuses and their promise, "Eternal salvation or TRIPLE your money back!" Praise "Bob"!
I experienced sleep paralysis and that was the most eye-opening time for me. There are "beings" about whom we know absolutely nothing... religions don`t teach us about them. I believe that we should only be interested in various topics of philosophy. The development of our spirituality should be based on this, religions/sects/cults are institutions that make money, they aren`t here for any Goddess/God/Gods and even less for us... travelers in time and space.
You made great points! Sleep paralysis is very interesting and it happens to many people despite of their religious beliefs. And yes, philosophy is a game changer and many Christians aren't interested in these topics unfortunately. Kind regards
The greatest alternative to the negativity of eschatology in the Western world is in astrology. People may rationalize a syncretism into the hopeful idea of going from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius. I could write quite the essay as to why this applies. 100 reasons why its just as good a prophecy as anything else. We've all had our journeys. 😊
You guys need to start tying together all of your interviews and moving other individuals forward that can project it into political power. We are out there and we need to put a challenge to this delusion while the human race ,condition, existence, is in jeopardy as an adversarial competition to mythology power of fear, greed, and despotic ambition
I view my formal Christian life as Paul When he left his formal life as a Hebrew of Hebrews. Im a Christian that rejects Greco-Roman Christianity "TRINITY " I almost completely turned myself against Jesus for many of the reasons you all have gone over I thank GOD I questioned Main doctrine within Christianity The trinity and by this I came to the TRUTH of how there is distortion within Christianity As well in Judaism and Islam All three deny GOD that HE has a literal SON and it denys Jesus that the only TRUE GOD is his FATHER amen The truth that remains in Christianity is the truth that brings people to the knowledge of the HEAVENLY FATHER and the SON Amen There is only ONE TRUE GOD and the SON is GOD'S first creation The evilness of man through the backing of the devil has altered the truth Jesus is a historical fact, and I believe wholeheartedly who he said he was and not thus sayeth men
There is no such thing as good or evil-only awareness and lack of awareness. It is the absence of awareness that gives rise to all forms of horrific actions and behaviors. At the end of the day, humanity is trapped in dualistic consciousness, dividing the world into absolutes like good and evil, when in reality, these are simply reflections of varying levels of awareness. When we see acts of harm, especially toward children, it’s natural to feel outrage and label those acts as ‘evil.’ But what if such acts are rooted in profound ignorance-a complete disconnect from empathy, love, or understanding? The harm itself is horrific, but labeling someone as irredeemably ‘evil’ perpetuates the cycle of judgment and separation. So, the question is this: If awareness is the key to transformation, what would it take to expand our collective consciousness to a level where such acts of harm are no longer possible?
I still do not understand your "either-or" philosophy. Either every word of the Bible is true, or it is all false. We know, for example, that the writing style of the ancient Hebrews was one of exaggeration, so it was never meant to be true. We know that the Gospels were written in different times, based on oral traditions. We know that Jesus spoke to the poor, the "working class," but that he tried to convince people that kindness, love, and compassion would make life more bearable. Who knows what happens when we die. We can live by the words Jesus left us and live a happy and decent life. I would say that Jesus is probably as good an example as Bertrand Russell, and maybe even better.
Its the culture to dig into the Bible because of the belief its the Word of God. At some point (for some of us) it falls apart, especially with the Internet which is ironic, because the printing press facilitated the protestant reformation and the Internet is facilitating the end of it all.
@edwardadelman5360 It's pretty simple. The U.S. was founded on a largely Protestant culture vs. Catholic. The U.S. is largely Protestant. The majority of the U.S. is "white." You're seeing what is the dominant culture. If he were in another part of the world, it would reflect that.
Usa is about 25 per cent catholic and eastern orthodox. On the atheist channels it seems like less than 1 per cent of the guests are catholic or Orthodox.Cant understand why
@@edwardadelman5360 the South US is like 80% Protestant though. Catholics are concentrated in the North East. Might just be where he’s geographically located and the culture he grew up in.
When I can't find my car keys, I blame the Time-Travelling Archeologists From the Future. This Ex Minister, clearly was NOT filled with The Holy Spirit. You are supposed to decode The Bible. Nothing is new under the sun. I hope to speak with him one day. (Proverbs 3:5)
20:00 on a serious note, you guys are still working for The Lord, but it seems like you just don't identify with religion, which makes sense. Listening to the gentleman talk about fasting and celibacy, I was thinking, well what's so wrong with that? He's talking like he was robbing banks. I'm sure every parent would want their kid "striggling" with fasting than murking people on the streets. And then he admitted that he still practised fasting to this day! See, you guys are doing it, but you just don't like the labels. We would say you're avoidance Personalities. In my Schema, you'd be Personality Type 2 (see About Section).
I had a vision of Jesus just a few days ago. Jesus is a figure who came to help. It's okay to have love for him, just know the Bible isn't explicitly Jesus. The Bible is Jesus story told by the Roman empire, be cautious but follow your heart brother
And I can't explain the "ego death" I experienced as a Buddhist, but I later I realized how easy it is for our brains to summon up "representations" in our imagination, and interpret an experience through a religious lens. Was the Jesus you saw a middle-eastern man? If not, how do you know that it isn't something your brain made up based on cultural reference? People from every religion have these experiences; so is it more likely that all religions are real, or that people are just good at tricking themselves?
Here is what I constructed: David, their king, whom I will raise up for them. (Jer 30:9 NAB) Blessed is the kingdom of our Father David that is to come! (Mar 11:10 NABO) Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father (1Co 15:24 NABO) The Son himself will (also) be subjected to the “One” who subjected everything to him (1Co 15:28 NABO) David, the Morning Star, rides the donkey. The bride of David rides the foal of the donkey. Christ rides a horse - of many colors, aspects, or perspectives. White - The wine press I have trodden alone (Isa 63:3 NABO) - there was a white horse, and its rider... rode forth victorious to further his victories (Rev 6:2 NABO) Red - Do not think that I have come to bring peace (Mat 10:34 NABO) - a horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take peace away from the earth (Rev 6:4) Black - I came into this world for judgment (Joh 9:39 NABO) - there was a black horse, and its rider held a scale in his hand. (Rev 6:5 NABO) Pale Green - Who will go down into the abyss?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). (Rom 10:7 NABO) - there was a pale green horse. Its rider was named Death, and Hades accompanied him. (Rev 6:8) Then I saw the heavens opened, and there was a white horse; its rider was (called) "Faithful and True." He judges and wages war in righteousness. He himself will tread out in the wine press the wine of the fury and wrath of God the Almighty (Rev 19:11-15 NABO)

I agree with this saying “Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.” ✌🏿
What happened? Did you convert to another religion?
If you're family are going to treat you a certain way because of something you believe or lack belief in you probably don't want them in your life.
I'm an Atheist married to a Lutheran Pastors daughter, I've always been an Atheist and it's never been an issue. I met my wife when I was 17 she was 15, had our first son at 17 and 19, now young grandparents

Hi Stacy, you have to also consider the fact that it is also 2000 years and more that Jesus along with the Holy bible with the Ten Commandments has specified to stop behaving like savages towards each other and one another.

Once you think like that, you are denying the existence of evil: 🙈🙉
How vile! 🤢
Powerful indeed.
Indeed, it's nothing more than a cult of compliance and comfort.
@@nocup8692 What were your top 2 concerns? What convinced you the "resurrection" did not occur?

You covered everything in this TH-cam video. Keep it up, everyone! Maybe you are the young man God is using to help us Christians find the truth of what the Bible talks about.
Great insight! According to many Christians, Christ has been sitting stationary on a throne this entire time for the past 2,000 years. It's difficult to morally and ethically accept this.

More of these Derek!
I was apart of the UPCI organization. I know who Bishop Haney is. Stockton, CA Christian Life Center/College.
Derek, when you mentioned the book you intent to write, i started thinking about titles and thought about using something like:
"Myths within Myths: the stories that informed the writers of the bible"
You got to play the Benny Hill theme in the background while you read the Bible. It'll make sense then 😊
Great guest!
Thank you for your kind words.

Hi!
I don't want to insult you and I understand why you would ask the question, yet I want to share a perspective with you:
The "winner" of a debate can be seen as the person whose followers/fans walk away from the experience with their beliefs/ worldview reaffirmed/vindicated.
In light of this, it's often the case that both participants are the "winner."
Good health to you!

@@tulpas93 What a great and classy comment. Yes, as Paul Simon once sang, "A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest." I am not a full preterist or a mythicist, but do think Don Preston won that debate on most points. But your point is well-taken.

@1:09:35
Thank you, Tristan, for being so direct and explicitly stating _exactly_ which evil/ suffering you're expecting to be addressed in a response to your question on the problem of evil/suffering.
I’m glad you see it! Children suffering is the #1 reason why I cannot morally and ethically side with any mind - human or divine.
Kind regards
What is the name of the song playing in the very last part?? I love it 😍
Tristan said he now sides with the Atheists, rather than that he is an atheist.
Thank God I’ve left UPC and WPF.
Great move!
24:19 _"...especially when you talk to other religions-like you said, the Mormons, you talk to Muslims-and here they are using the exact same special pleading, the exact same faith card..."_
I think, because I researched different religions (I still have Walter Martin's _The Kingdom of the Cults_ on my book shelf) and witnessed to people of varying faiths, this played a vital role in my deconversion from Christianity; seeing the special pleading arguments and the emotional belonging and purpose ties to any given religion.
I arrived at deism (or a possible poly-deism due to Intelligent Design arguments), but then eventually I came to label myself an agnostic atheist.
had the same delay during my discussion with Tristan. I believe it was caused on his end. Dang California internet 🙂
Yeah he was crucified for like 12 hours, mercy killed, and then became ruler of the universe. I'd take that deal every day of the week.
I wish right wing commentator Matt Walsh saw videos like this making concrete arguments against Xianity using the Bible itself. I wonder how he’d react.
Sounds like according to full preterists, we're all dead and this is hell. 😂. Mmm they may be onto something 😂
You can literally make the Bible say or mean anything you want it to mean so it agrees with your current beliefs.

All good here Nor Cal.
Wow, that puts NFTs and digital real estate to shame

Make your own channel! Do what you are suggesting and let's see who ends up with more views! 😂
Jesús forgot about sexual education
Acts 5:11 Great *fear* seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.
It is known the Jesus character of the Bible was not a real person.

Not Funny, guys. Do something else in your off-time.
Sophomoric nerds will exist I the future, folks.
This Ex Minister, clearly was NOT filled with The Holy Spirit. You are supposed to decode The Bible. Nothing is new under the sun. I hope to speak with him one day. (Proverbs 3:5)
Beastmode!!! What's good!
I prefer proverbs 21:19
No true scottsman fallacy
The devil's my bro. He's never lied in the bible or caused any harm that wasn't allowed by God.
17:38 well now that he's abandoned his vows can i shoot my shot?
But yet there is a political power in our country that will pick and choose who to punish for their sexual deviations.
I had a vision of Jesus and cannot explain it to others, but to the best of my knowledge, it happened, and I also saw shapes singing in the sky.
Get some help. This can be dangerous if you have visions while driving or handling sharp tools!
Good health to you!
I’m not going to put God in a box. Almost all of these so-called visions originated from the god of this world.

Watch out for what spirit is inside the churches
lol 😂this is hilarious
Here is what I constructed:
David, their king, whom I will raise up for them. (Jer 30:9 NAB)
Blessed is the kingdom of our Father David that is to come! (Mar 11:10 NABO)
Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father (1Co 15:24 NABO)
The Son himself will (also) be subjected to the “One” who subjected everything to him (1Co 15:28 NABO)
David, the Morning Star, rides the donkey. The bride of David rides the foal of the donkey.
Christ rides a horse - of many colors, aspects, or perspectives.
White - The wine press I have trodden alone (Isa 63:3 NABO)
- there was a white horse, and its rider... rode forth victorious to further his victories (Rev 6:2 NABO)
Red - Do not think that I have come to bring peace (Mat 10:34 NABO)
- a horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take peace away from the earth (Rev 6:4)
Black - I came into this world for judgment (Joh 9:39 NABO)
- there was a black horse, and its rider held a scale in his hand. (Rev 6:5 NABO)
Pale Green - Who will go down into the abyss?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). (Rom 10:7 NABO)
- there was a pale green horse. Its rider was named Death, and Hades accompanied him. (Rev 6:8)
Then I saw the heavens opened, and there was a white horse; its rider was (called) "Faithful and True." He judges and wages war in righteousness. He himself will tread out in the wine press the wine of the fury and wrath of God the Almighty (Rev 19:11-15 NABO)
why do you keep copy and pasting ?
@@penttimuhli9442 I wrote it. It is not a Christian or other world view on the Bible. The verses provide both the statement and the support. That way, I avoid people saying I am making stuff up. Deconstruction leaves the pieces laying around. It doesn't mean you become an atheist.
Adam, the Christ, the only unique Son of God, who was without sin and was not deceived, descends into the Abyss. He is the Star "Wormwood" (of Bethlehem) fallen from the sky and given the key to the Abyss. He rises up from the Abyss as the rider Death on the Pale Green horse with all of Hades at his heel admiring (striking at) and protecting (gripping) him at the resurrection.
Here is another example:
Strike at my heel, will you! You little deceiver (and usurper).
Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau! (Gen 32:12 NABO)
Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, and flinging himself on his neck, kissed him as he wept. (Gen 33:4 NABO)
Jacob couldn't have had a nicer guy serving him. Gripping Esau's heel also means for protection. Striking at the head or heel also means admiring. World views weren't any help. They focus on the enmity, such as between Esau and Jacob, Adam and the Snake

This is boring and upsetting I already know religion sucks. It just reminds me of my own bad experience.
