I love this because Marcus King is a blues rock guy and Billy is a bluegrass guy and together they are doing a smooth jazz song. The best of four worlds of music. If you haven't heard Marcus sing, go find something he sings. I think there is a live tv video of him doing a song from his new album. look for Dalila

@Noble Failures Yes for sure, he has brought some needed excitement to the music bringing some younger ones into the fold which will help to keep it this music going. Billy does go back to his roots and is not shamed to say so which is great.
Somehow Marcus seems to mix blues with jazz, if that makes sense and Billy mixes everything with bluegrass. They’re both old souls. Billy’s voice is unexpected but amazing and Marcus’s is out of this world. They also happen to be 2 of the best guitarists alive and maybe ever. Also playing maybe a hundred grand + worth of guitars
That's from listening to Django Rinehardt. Many finger style, improvisational flat-pickers are heavily influenced by roots blues, "gypsy jazz" and bluegrass. Spin them in a blender and this is what you get. This is the kind of thing someone an orchestral player, classically trained, likes to play in their spare time.
