    You are very lucky you can take so many cigars home with you. I live in the UK and we can only bring 50 cigars home. If we buy cigars in any EU country we can bring 100 home. Cigars are very expensive in the UK. A cigar that you might buy in the US for $10 would cost £40 in the UK. People may have noticed that you will never see any individuals in the UK showing their cigar collection on TH-cam. Thats because they don't have many cigars.

      @KimoKapaku  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was in the U.K. last May and visited the Davidoff lounge (check out the video) I feel sorry for the Brits but not as much as I do for the Aussoes bc their taxes are worse than the U.K.!!!!

      @ivotheg2397 ปีที่แล้ว

      You think the UK is bad bro, try Australia 🇦🇺. You can only bring in 3 cigars.

    I love videos of the farms like this. Only handful of them on TH-cam. While smoking a nicaraguan because usa isn’t over with their honeymoon with Cuba it’s getting old and boring now usa. Chop chop stop limiting us in this free country

      So let me differentiate between what I call "custom roll" and the term "Farm roll"

    I'm just curious, were these cigars from the farmer as good as the margarita cigars from the Comodora? Wow, someday I'll find out for myself.

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @joescopo8933 the farm rolls from my 1st trip were the best I've ever had. This past year not so much. The farm rolls have become touristy and are not in the same style as what farmers smoke (petit coronas) they're seeling sizes like "esplendidos" siglo 6 and behike which is purely for the tourist market. Truthfully I prefer the margaritas from the comodoro shop to be the best custom rolls in Havana

    Great video again! Thanks!
    What did the cigar taste like fresh? And how do you think it would taste after aging for 3-4 years in the humidor?

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can tell you the farm rolls are damn good but unfortunately, the new or current farm rolls are not as good becuase they make them bigger. Before all farm rolls were pretty much corona size. If I had kept some for a few years they wouldve been amazing but thats the trouble with aging cigars, HOLDING THEM FOR THAT LONG!

      I have lancero, robusto and bhk 54 from Cuban farms. The lanceros at 3 years are getting smoother yet complex. I think in a year or so that final third does too. As for the bigger ring gauges, really nice but need time. Farm rolls have the twang, each farm I believe it’s taste… all Cuban tabaco no matter how harsh at first, really a step above most new worlds.

    Who decides what 90% the gov gets? Do the farms manage to keep the best quality for themselves?

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question. Not sure how it gets separated or if the farmers get to decide

    Hey super educational video thank you so much for sharing! Quick question what did he say about selling his cigars? Something about only being allowed to sell 5 per person or something?

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  ปีที่แล้ว

      No he was saying that 90% of the tobacco they grow goes to the g9vt and the 10% they keep is for them to use or sell

  • @Aaron-ep9ne
    @Aaron-ep9ne ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you visit the farm as part of a group tour? Was it a day trip from havana or did you overnight in the area?

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was solo and it was a day trip but I would recommend staying overnight and seeing all the different sights like the caves and underground pools. The town is great and you can rent airbnb or "casa particulars" which are like bed n breakfast rooms

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're asking some great questions btw!

  • @Aaron-ep9ne
    @Aaron-ep9ne ปีที่แล้ว

    So the stuff he pulled out the bag that was treated with the honey water mixture is the normal process for cuban cigar production or he was trying to create an infused cigar?

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The process is what some farmers used to do but i have not seen this process done anymore however some other ppl may have an update as my last trip there in 2022 did not encounter this. I believe it is a farm to farm thing where each have their own way of drying and fermenting

  • @Aaron-ep9ne
    @Aaron-ep9ne ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does the gov pay him for the 90% or his pay is from what he does with the 10% he keeps?

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both I believe but of course they make more on the 10% they keep and sell. The govt subsidizes all the equipment, fertilzer, gas, etc

  • @jeffherdz
    @jeffherdz ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A true shame that the powers that be, refuse to change even a little. If that day should ever come, and the government's grow up, Cuban cigars might even become harder to find. As I am sure that they would be snapped up real fast.

    • @KimoKapaku
      @KimoKapaku  ปีที่แล้ว

      The govt has issues like all govts. They are inefficient and cannot run themselves without screwing it all up
