Tomb of the Dragon Emperor definitely suffered for the lack of Rachel Weisz. I like Maria Bello just fine but having an American play a role popularised by a Brit is rarely a good choice. It was a bit like having an American play Bond.
I don't even think it was the American vs the Brit thing. First of all, that movie was just flat all-round. Mid music, mid sfx, mid script. Action sequences were decent enough though. Then, both Alex and Evy were established characters who were recast, leaving only Brendan Fraser and John Hannah of the original cast in tact. Remember that their characters were only meaningfully connected by a former actor's character. Because the movie also shifted continents, the entire context pretty much demanded an all-new cast of actors aside from Brendan Fraser and John Hannah anyway. And on top of all that, those new actors had to act out an established history in a whole new context and story. At that point, they should have simply re-done everything instead of desperately clinging to a tiny left-over fraction of what came before. I think the people pulling the ropes figured Brendan Fraser's, Michelle Yeoh's, and Jet Li's names would be enough starpower for that franchise, and it's probably the only reason the movie has done as well as it has given the circumstances.
The primary driver of success is a Good Script, Second up is Good Casting, followed by Directing. This film had mediocre casting and directing at best - but if it had an alright script it would have been fine. What it had instead was something that resembles a lot of modern film in that it's a Hot Turd wonder-bread sandwich. The reality is - when you have bad scripts presented to good actors/actresses that don't need to take on work right now, they are going to pass it by. And what is left is a lot of less experienced actors/actresses hoping for a break into more larger roles. Instead: We have movies being produced that disillusion the actors/actresses, disillusion audiences, and really just gut the entire industry. And thus we get into a bit of a reality check: It's not a British or American actor thing. It's a bad script thing. And that script should have faced significant re-write the moment a former main cast member declined.
Linda Hamilton's comments about what they were wanting to do to her character in part 3 is not nearly as bad as what they did to John Conner in that last one.
X-2 is one of the Greatest Superhero Movies and Sequels of All Time. It’s up there with Spider-Man 2 and The Dark Knight… That Intro Action scene with Nightcrawler was Amazing!! Wolverines Rage scene with Strikers Intruders was Hugh Jackman’s best portrayal of the character 🥸

It was smart to not do sequels of very profitable and loved movies. Many sequel try to capture the fanfare of the original but, except for a few well done sequels, they do not equal the quality of the original ones.
Who knows what's gonna happen after the strikes are over, but they did put a Keanu Reeves-led Constantine on the radar over at WB-D. We'll see what's what when the actors return.
The Crispin Glover segment is trippy, so all this time he wasn't in Back To The Future 2, how the hell they were able to do that, cleverly i may add for 80's special effects, is sheer amazement.

Mummy 3 was the greatest disappointment for me. Why not have it be that Evies resurrection was only temporary and the reason why Rick and his son were estranged was that he remarried? Perhaps to a spy or whatever nonsense that was. Maybe then it would be slightly more tolerable.

Imma jus' clear this up right now: "Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan" is the best movie of all time. So, no, "Back To The Future" is CLEARLY not the best science-fiction movie of all time. It's a comedy with science-fiction trappings, and though a good movie, wasn't even the best movie that year, of any genre. Actually the second Mummy film was lackluster itself. The first one was a fun throwback to the same sort of movie adventure as Indiana Jones. I think of the first Mummy movie, Raiders Of The Lost Ark and The Rocketeer as an ad-hoc trilogy of classic serial-based movies, perfect single films that capture the kind of high adventure you just don't get anymore.
