  • From a silent 8mm cine film of our family summer holiday, which was on the coast at Coulderton, as far as I can tell. We filmed Whitehaven and Egremont and some of the local area. The farmer and his family lived near the holiday cottages, which were on the beach at Coulderton, and shared a single standpipe water supply, with the railway line immediately behind. Notice the double header steam passenger train.

Where is that at 1:58? The bridge road is the only part of this video I don't recognise

No idea sorry Tony. I was a young kid and we were on holiday in the area. I wish someone knew the farmer on his tractor and the family by the wall. Be nice for their family to see the bit of film. I think we were near Parton, staying in a tarpapered shack on the beach. The railway ran directly behind the huts. Water for every hut from a single standpipe. We drove through a tunnel under the railway line on to the beach. Ring any bells?

@@colinains I honestly have no idea, either, maybe someone else watching it can shine some light. It's a superb video, thanks for uploading it.

The bridge is at Portinscale, over the river Derwent. A stones throw from Keswick.
